Agreed, google home sucks, never detects when we are home until I open the app. Lots of phantom motion detection alerts.
Not to mention Google home seems to becoming more deaf over time…..
I have a theory that Google is devoting less processing to home responses as its useless sometimes but other times spot on.
Agreed about the cameras having phantom alerts though, at least for some of my cameras. This price is good as ill put one in the shed so i can watch my 3d printers without having to login
Bought two second hand ones set up presence and they have been working flawlessly, use them to keep an eye on my GSD using samsung …..What phone you using must be an app interfering..
A haunted house?
I suspect they are replacing it with a new model because it's not even easy to find it on the Google website right now but don't think they will stop the support. At least they cant do that in Australia according to ACL.
Google are still supporting Nest devices from 2017 (and I think further back), they're committing to at least 5 years of support on new devices iirc which I think is a fair lifespan.
That said, I really like my Nest Cameras (2x indoor and 3x outdoor) and haven't had any problems outside of having trouble connecting them on day one, very set-it-and-forget-it.

it's there, just google "Google Nest Cam 2nd Gen, Indoor" and it's on my 2nd top result.
Good price but too late. I’ve got Tapo cameras and am pretty happy with them.
Which ones did you go with? I've been thinking of an upgrade. I have Reolink Cameras but the quality is average & the detection algorithm is terrible (trees & shadows trigger it all the time).
I need outdoor ones.
Tapo C420 2K twin pack for outdoors - wifi, battery powered - being running for half years, mid-sensitive motion detection, the original batteries' charge still holds 40% power ($199 from Amazon)
Tapo C200 1080P twin pack for indoors - wifi, main powered ($59 from Amazon)
All connected to Tapo Hub (included in C420 pack)Hope this helps.
Same, also much cheaper.
These are pretty good. I don't think mine has ever missed anything because it's always on and ready unlike the battery outdoor ones. Downside is you pretty much need the subscription but it saves your footage offsite and is available anywhere.
This or Tapo ?
Tapo ones are great
It make sense to have this if you also have nest doorbell and have subscribe for nest aware, otherwise many other options in the market
Great deal, but silly question - what is stopping anyone from just turning this off at the switch, and that way they wont be recorded?
You've already been notified by the time they turn it off. This exact thing happened to my partners friends house that was robbed. Cops arrived by the time the Muppet decided to flee.
So just to be clear did the muppet getaway with anything? Or did the cops called the moment the video switched off?
She called the cops the moment she was notified of motion detection. He attempted to steal the camera thinking the footage can't be accessed any other way and some jewellery.
Interesting… but if someone was smart enough to manage to turn the switch off in a way that the camera cant pick him up, does the camera still record for at least a bit? Or stops straight away?
It would want to be in a strange location if you could turn it off without being detected. Usually, they're placed against a wall and there's no way you can get past it. The field of vision is massive.
@Maths Debater: Thanks so much!
Last question, any idea if this model has a magnet? I have the outdoor nest cam and was able to just clamp it onto a metal gate using the built in magnet…
Thanks so much
@Uncle Roger: No magnet I'm afraid. Purely designed to sit upright.
@Maths Debater: It comes with accessories to be mounted on the ceiling too, if there’s accessible PowerPoint.
@nosrad: Thanks, I didn't take notice of this.
@Maths Debater: You could turn of their power from the power box outside
@Mattyjames: Sure, unless they live in an apartment. You'll still get an offline notification anyway.
The smarter thing to do is turn off their power from the power box outside the home so there is no notification, unless of course they have outdoor cameras.
For those who are paranoid, put the router + camera on a UPS :)
I believe it has some offline recording feature which saves footage locally then uploads it when reconnected to the cloud.
@slankets: The battery ones might, but the current deal is the indoors wired camera so there is no recording if power is cut..
This is me. My internet is on ups and I have the battery versions. Turn my power off all you like you'll still be seen
Good price. I have a couple of these. No issues with them apart from needing Aware subscription. I have a few battery powered external ones too powered by solar panels.
Any deal or geo deal for the nest aware to make the most out of the nest system?
Nope prices keep going up for the same functionality really. I've paid them for several years now for Aware. I pay for the 30 day history. There is also 60 days but not worth it for me I only need 30.
I also do 30day but ideally Id like 24hour 30 day recording but 30 day subscription is only activity recording. Need to pay the extra for 60 day to get 24 hour recording.
Subscription requirements are a deal killer for me
Wouldn't be surprised if Google discontinued the product and support for this next week
