    Out of stock for me

    • Hmm that's strange. Just checked again and it shows in-stock when I'm logged into my Prime account and then also when viewing the product page logged out on incognito.

    • +2

"Usually dispatched within 2-4 weeks" for me (Prime, Sydney)

    • +9

That's because your delivery address isn't a metro area.

Amazon have decided that people in a regional or rural area don't need to be able to purchase products from them anymore.

      • ordered one just after this deal was posted and showing mid-Jan delivery for metro Brisbane

      • Perhaps it’s just not cost-effective for them to deliver to regional areas. There’s a reason 67% of the population lives in capital cities.

    • Delivery restrictions
Same for me, out of stock

Change to metro address and $39 and available

It's Amazon not allowing delivery to any non metro address

    • Perhaps try and get a price match at your nearest JB

i use these for my 3d printers never had a problem.

  • It shows in stock for me. Prime?

  • Are they surge protected??

    • +1

There's a mention of surge protection among a few other protection measures in one of the images on the product page.

      • +1

If there's no specs on surge protection (ie a joule rating) then it's probably a tickbox exercise that should be ignored. The Tapo specs on the TP link site don't bother specifying.

      • +3

It's very sketchy, even the official P300 data sheet does not list the actual amount of surge protection (in Joules). That's usually a very safe bet that it's something ridiculously low and useless, like 75J or something.

Are these known for lasting any better than the typical smart plug? (which doesn't seem to be reputably very long)

    • +1

the typical smart plug? (which doesn't seem to be reputably very long)

I have no probem with their free promo smart plug HS100

    • I've had the previous version (kp303) since July 2021, been used every day and it's great! No issues, connects easily, app is simple, added to google home for voice control, works and looks as new. Got this one recently also, expect it to last the same

    • Might be you, had a few of the smart plugs for over 5yrs now. Same with some family members.

    • my kasa single plugs have never failed
      I've had three tapos fail

now I'm trying the laser ones

  • +1

Are there any power boards that do energy monitoring (even if it is for the whole board)? Or is the solution still just a single port energy monitor + your traditional extension board.

    • +5

Tapo has a P360 coming soon that is a 6-port energy monitoring version of the P300:
      https://www.tp-link.com/au/home-networking/smart-plug/tapo-p…

      Dunno when it'll be available

      • They had this in the previous Kasa range as well, but it was never released in an AU version

      • From the image, all three USB A of P360, might not worth

      • Dang, if they had a 8 port version, I would replace the 2018 Cyberpower one I got.

  • +1

Usually dispatched within 2 to 4 weeks nice

Price matched through JB HI-FI live chat. Thanks OP!

  • Anyone know the length of the cord?

    • +1

Says 1.5m on the box at OW.

  • Anyone noticed OW has Bulk buy price being 2+ $63?

    • +2

I put 2 in cart it says $100

    • Me too

My Kasa version of this recently shat the bed, coincidentally within a couple of weeks JUST outside of the 24 month warranty offered by TP-Link. One plug randomly decides to switch itself on-and-off every 5 minutes, and the whole board regularly drops out from the app. TP-link product support refuse to do anything about it, nevermind the fact that I own countless routers, smart plugs, wifi cameras of theirs.
In researching the faults on this KP303 model, it appears it was a fairly common fault also.

    Never again, TP-Junk.

    • +3

Yeah unfortunately this is an extremely common failure mode for Kasa and Tapo smart plugs. As they get older, the chance of them failing like this (the "click of death" where they cycle on and off repeatedly) increases exponentially. I'd say you can expect 30-40% of them to fail within 2-3 years.

    • Other brands in this price range aren't necessarily better unfortunately.

  • +1

ask price match from JB HIFI live chat. got approve in 5 mins. sweet

  • ATL $25

  • Are USB ports controllable and/or desperately?

    • +1

you cannot control the usb ports, only the main normal power plugs, this board will appear in tapo as 3 plugs, and in home assistant in can be 1 p300 board and 3 individual plugs

      • Is HA local control? Which integration? Thanks

        • Should do for most of the TP-Link products as I know.

  • +2

Do not buy TP-link Smart powerboard, they will die just after 2 years out of warranty and support will not provide any support or replacement.

it is usually the capacitor which burns out with chip on board, its beyond repair.

    • Does the same problem occurs on the smart plug?

      • +2

There are mixed reports for a variety of TP-link smart plugs.
        Maybe check out https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/860271

        I haven't had any issues with the TP-link P110 or KP303. Got a heap been running 24x7.

        • I had mine died KP303 other forums said the same https://community.tp-link.com/en/smart-home/forum/topic/2707…

My one is the same as post #8 #9 totally dead no wifi connection No SYS light and nothing will recover it. The issue is I cannot even use it as a normal non smart powerboard. It's going to landfill. TP-Link will not help refers you to product warranty of two years.

It is not expensive enough to claim under ACCC consumer laws so I can't do anything

      • +1

Smartplug might be a bit different. My experience is over 2 years still ok with Smartplug but not powerboard. I would avoid

  • +1

Any suggestions for practical use? I've bought one for the deck to turn on TV, lights, etc. only when needed. I'm not sure that I have a lot of devices that need turning on or off periodically.

    • We use them for Christmas lights and also outdoor lights.
Also use them to manage lamps and radio for when we are away to make it appear people home.

    • I've been doing the Christmas lights! and the lamp in the bedroom, laptop, phone charger all have schedules set to them to turn on/off. Am running out of things though, but is a nice board either way with 2 usb & 1 usb C

    • Thanks. I already have a few of the old timers for Christmas lights.

  • This is how I learn TP-Link has a different line of smart switches than Kasa. How confusing.

  • HomeKit Enable – Control your connected devices directly from your Apple devices

Does this mean it can be a HomeHub?
