is there actually anything worth buying from temu… still havent made a purchase yet

    • +3

      Plenty.

I bought a pair of footy boots from there just after it opened. $22 delivered. Lasted weekly/twice weekly training (year round) plus games. Still going strong.

Its search function is crap. Usually i add what i need to cart, and then system suggests cheaper options.

Bought screen protects, a cheapo "apple" pen, a bunch other stuff which was made more attractive by cheap prices and delivery faster than aliexpress delivery times (though aliexpress have stepped up their delivery game)

    • I have bought a lots of items throgh all those 100% cashback. They are really not bad. Solar light, mini projector, oven thermometer, magnetic hooks… etc.
And all free. So why not.

    • Some people used to say Temu was a scamer before…

      • Never had a problem myself. But if it happens I think their refund should be quite easy.

    • Definitely. I just browsed around and bought stuff for my home mainly kitchen and bathroom stuff. But also stuff like desk mats slippers tape etc. Probably over bought so you just need to control yourself lol

    • Temu is wish 2.0

  • +2

Okay I just had a quick look at old temu posts to see what’s worth buying and can see that there’s a lot of data harvesting with Teemu and recommendations as to using PayPal etc. I might just stay away from it for the while.

    • +3

whats the deal with Paypal nowadays, teaming up with Honey as well to get last click referral links lol

      • +2

PayPal purchased Honey in 2020 for $4bn.

    • Curious, does data harvesting result in security implications? And how does using paypal avoid data harvesting?

  • never bought from Temu.. how is it compared to AliExpress?

    • +5

I've bought from Temu; I don't think it's that much different. Just the marketing is even more gimmicky and aggressive (Temu loooooves them fake spinning wheels).

    • +2

I haven’t used Temu, but AliExpress has been reliable over the past 2 years, unlike eBay, which has the worst customer service I’ve encountered, and I'm Plus. I still have an unresolved case for a tracked item that was never delivered (the seller only generated a tracking number). After eBay put the case on hold for a month, I opened a PayPal case in November, and eBay promptly closed my case because of it.
AliExpress typically resolves returns and refunds within a week with free shipping, and delivery usually takes less than two weeks.
      eBay: 4/10
      AliExpress: 7/10
      Amazon: 8/10

Back in the day AliExpress was supper cheap, but then you'd have to wait 1-3 months, 0 customer care, no returns and no PayPal.

Aliexpress doesn't have a minimum spend threshold, you simply pay a small shipping fee if you spend under a certain amount

With Temu, the first time you make a purchase you're asked to spend maybe $25 to $35. Any cart value below that and you can't check out

Subsequent purchases made on that account will have increased spend thresholds. My account now requires me to spend at least $45 to $50.

You can of course make a new temu account to reset the threshold.

    • Well, Aliexpress probably doesn't have a cable connecting its database direct to the CCP (but the CCP could require it to be handed over at any time), while Temu appears to be some sort of data harvesting instrument for the CCP.

      • Why harvest from 1 when you can harvest from many and ultimately harvest more. Rinse repeat across industries. You win, your competition loses (or flat out fails). It's not rocket science, but many still do not comprehend just how nefarious the CCP are. Again, they win.

Temu is too much like a bad gacha game with the constant pop up spinning games or 'chance to win' crap. I can't put up with it and pay more on AliExpress instead.

    • I bought more from Temu than aliexpress even though I only started buying from the former 1 year ago. I find them very reliable. Good with refunds. And packaging is very suitable for me.

Did CR track better with Temu?

  • How does the new user bonus work with this offer? So if you get something listed at $65, you pay $50 and get $50cb?

    • If the 30% off works as well, you can spend up to $72, end up paying $50 and get the entire $50 back.

  • If i have done a temu purchase before, can i make a new temu account and purchase on my existing cash rewards to get the cashback?

      (asking for a friend)

Hello, How long is delivery usually? Similar to aliexpress?

    Thanks

    • I reckon quite similar. And nowadays their support is quite good and refund quickly if not received. Also usually $5 credit if item delayed. Had one that was delayed a week ago. They said if item arrived to keep it. It arrived 2 days after. So got full refund on o my PayPal, $5 credit and item. Was US $38.

  • @PoorFromOzBargains What if the order is partially refunded, do you still get cashback for the order amount less refunded amount ( with $50 cap) ?

    • I haven’t personally done this using CashRewards so I can’t tell you from experience. It’s unclear from reading previous deal comments if partial refunds will void cash back on the entire purchase or is calculated based on the total amount minus the refund. I guess be wary of this and don’t refund something worth $2 if you want the $50 cashback.

  • Not sure what happened to yours but I bought something half year ago and rewards still "Pending".

Has anyone actually gotten any Temu purchases tracked and received cashback?

    • +1

in fact yes. I received temu cashbacks but i never shopped (or even browsed) there. good times.

    • I got once from Shopback

  • +1

I can't see the 30% off $39 for new users, how do I get i

    • Doesn't seem to be working, I remember people complaining about it on a previous offer as well

  • I'm happy to be a new customer again if I'm allowed.

    • I'm happy to be a new customer again if I'm allowed.

Did they mean new Temu account or new CR account?

      • Suspect a CR account and Temu account

      • From Cashrewards webpage.

Special terms: New customer offers are limited to 1 reward per Cashrewards account.

So I think that means one new Temu account cashback per Cashrewards account.

        • Boo they ruined it now

  • New Temu account is required, but I assume you cannot stack it with the referrals from OzBargain as they open in the Temu app…

  • How do you make a new account? Is it tied to hardware ID or a phone number?

  • +1

Yep, Temu now wants a $50 minimum order from me each time. I've gone back to Aliexpress

  • Temu currently has a PayPal promotion on "spend $80+ and get $15 off", but does anyone know if this will void the Cashrewards cashback?

  • last time I did the cash rewards 80% off it didn't register me as a new user. even with new mobile/account setup. I suspect it's because it was in the same cash rewards account

  • Is there a coupon code for 30% off $39 on new accounts. Doesnt seem to auto apply

    • I found some websites listing coupon AUSNEW30 , but i haven't tried it myself
