is there actually anything worth buying from temu… still havent made a purchase yet

    • +5

      Plenty.

I bought a pair of footy boots from there just after it opened. $22 delivered. Lasted weekly/twice weekly training (year round) plus games. Still going strong.

Its search function is crap. Usually i add what i need to cart, and then system suggests cheaper options.

Bought screen protects, a cheapo "apple" pen, a bunch other stuff which was made more attractive by cheap prices and delivery faster than aliexpress delivery times (though aliexpress have stepped up their delivery game)

    • I have bought a lots of items throgh all those 100% cashback. They are really not bad. Solar light, mini projector, oven thermometer, magnetic hooks… etc.
And all free. So why not.

      • +1

Did you use new email and ph no but same delivery address?

    • +1

Some people used to say Temu was a scamer before…

      • Never had a problem myself. But if it happens I think their refund should be quite easy.

      • +2

Always pay with PayPal, so your payment information is secure

        • +1

How about Google Pay and Apple Pay?

          • @bcYield: Probably secure. But never use card info directly

            • +1

@mkowarkski: Google gives a virtual card number, and I believe that will be given to the merchants when paying in-store and the same as online, I guess.

    • Definitely. I just browsed around and bought stuff for my home mainly kitchen and bathroom stuff. But also stuff like desk mats slippers tape etc. Probably over bought so you just need to control yourself lol

    • Temu is wish 2.0

  • +4

Okay I just had a quick look at old temu posts to see what’s worth buying and can see that there’s a lot of data harvesting with Teemu and recommendations as to using PayPal etc. I might just stay away from it for the while.

    • +3

whats the deal with Paypal nowadays, teaming up with Honey as well to get last click referral links lol

      • +2

PayPal purchased Honey in 2020 for $4bn.

    • Curious, does data harvesting result in security implications? And how does using paypal avoid data harvesting?

      • You use crypto or bank app on the same phone, they show you ads with phishing designed for breaking into your apps. Or just "update browser" "download free antivirus" that will pretend to be the one that you actually have.
After installation of OKX app my ads changed to crypto.com.

        • Thanks

Now im worried i did use temu a couple times in the past months ago to get some cheap jewellery

I uninstalled temu after about a month because i read about chinese monitoring

How do i know if i had been compromised?

Did u mean like fake adds on the temu app?

Im pretty sure i only update from play store and not from the temu app/ website

Oh so as an example so when you accidentally download okx app they change the home website to crypto.com which wasnt the original app you used?

          • @ATTS: By Temu or not, you've been monitored all the time. Better to have just separate devices for sensitive and for fun stuff. If you can't, from time to time reset your "marketing id" or advertising ID. Google where to find it and how to reset it. Or use a tool to change it automatically.

Any ads anywhere can be faked, trust no one.

No, with okx I mean they sold me and info to 3rd party marketing data miners as soon as I installed the legit app. But all ads everywhere are now treat me as a crypto trader.

            • @Ozzster: Thanks

Qlso Are anti virus for mobile phones effetive ?

              • @ATTS: They can do some side help, like have VPN, password manager, or have a blacklist of websites that you will not be able to open to be hacked there. But that stuff rarely saves you. If you update your phone and all apps weekly, don't have root, and do not do dodgy things yourself like install random apps and click on every banner, you should be alright without antiviruses.

                • @Ozzster: Thanks

                  So the playstore

When it says verified by play protect during install, does that mean anything

                  • @ATTS: It means they tried, but if you will download something bad it's your responsibility regardless of the source.

  • never bought from Temu.. how is it compared to AliExpress?

    • +5

I've bought from Temu; I don't think it's that much different. Just the marketing is even more gimmicky and aggressive (Temu loooooves them fake spinning wheels).

    • +3

I haven’t used Temu, but AliExpress has been reliable over the past 2 years, unlike eBay, which has the worst customer service I’ve encountered, and I'm Plus. I still have an unresolved case for a tracked item that was never delivered (the seller only generated a tracking number). After eBay put the case on hold for a month, I opened a PayPal case in November, and eBay promptly closed my case because of it.
AliExpress typically resolves returns and refunds within a week with free shipping, and delivery usually takes less than two weeks.
      eBay: 4/10
      AliExpress: 7/10
      Amazon: 8/10

Back in the day AliExpress was supper cheap, but then you'd have to wait 1-3 months, 0 customer care, no returns and no PayPal.

    • +4

Aliexpress doesn't have a minimum spend threshold, you simply pay a small shipping fee if you spend under a certain amount

With Temu, the first time you make a purchase you're asked to spend maybe $25 to $35. Any cart value below that and you can't check out

Subsequent purchases made on that account will have increased spend thresholds. My account now requires me to spend at least $45 to $50.

You can of course make a new temu account to reset the threshold.

    • Well, Aliexpress probably doesn't have a cable connecting its database direct to the CCP (but the CCP could require it to be handed over at any time), while Temu appears to be some sort of data harvesting instrument for the CCP.

      • Why harvest from 1 when you can harvest from many and ultimately harvest more. Rinse repeat across industries. You win, your competition loses (or flat out fails). It's not rocket science, but many still do not comprehend just how nefarious the CCP are. Again, they win.

    • +4

Temu is too much like a bad gacha game with the constant pop up spinning games or 'chance to win' crap. I can't put up with it and pay more on AliExpress instead.

    • I bought more from Temu than aliexpress even though I only started buying from the former 1 year ago. I find them very reliable. Good with refunds. And packaging is very suitable for me.

  • +1

Did CR track better with Temu?

  • How does the new user bonus work with this offer? So if you get something listed at $65, you pay $50 and get $50cb?

    • If the 30% off works as well, you can spend up to $72, end up paying $50 and get the entire $50 back.

  • If i have done a temu purchase before, can i make a new temu account and purchase on my existing cash rewards to get the cashback?

    • +1

      (asking for a friend)

    • Yes, have done successfully before.

  • +1

Hello, How long is delivery usually? Similar to aliexpress?

    Thanks

    • +1

I reckon quite similar. And nowadays their support is quite good and refund quickly if not received. Also usually $5 credit if item delayed. Had one that was delayed a week ago. They said if item arrived to keep it. It arrived 2 days after. So got full refund on o my PayPal, $5 credit and item. Was US $38.

  • @PoorFromOzBargains What if the order is partially refunded, do you still get cashback for the order amount less refunded amount ( with $50 cap) ?

    • I haven’t personally done this using CashRewards so I can’t tell you from experience. It’s unclear from reading previous deal comments if partial refunds will void cash back on the entire purchase or is calculated based on the total amount minus the refund. I guess be wary of this and don’t refund something worth $2 if you want the $50 cashback.

  • Not sure what happened to yours but I bought something half year ago and rewards still "Pending".

  • +1

Has anyone actually gotten any Temu purchases tracked and received cashback?

    • +2

in fact yes. I received temu cashbacks but i never shopped (or even browsed) there. good times.

    • I got once from Shopback

  • +1

I can't see the 30% off $39 for new users, how do I get i

    • +1

Doesn't seem to be working, I remember people complaining about it on a previous offer as well

  • I'm happy to be a new customer again if I'm allowed.

    • I'm happy to be a new customer again if I'm allowed.

Did they mean new Temu account or new CR account?

      • Suspect a CR account and Temu account

      • From Cashrewards webpage.

Special terms: New customer offers are limited to 1 reward per Cashrewards account.

So I think that means one new Temu account cashback per Cashrewards account.

        • Boo they ruined it now

  • New Temu account is required, but I assume you cannot stack it with the referrals from OzBargain as they open in the Temu app…

  • +1

How do you make a new account? Is it tied to hardware ID or a phone number?

  • +2

Yep, Temu now wants a $50 minimum order from me each time. I've gone back to Aliexpress

  • -1

  • last time I did the cash rewards 80% off it didn't register me as a new user. even with new mobile/account setup. I suspect it's because it was in the same cash rewards account

    • New definition of "new customer" is new cashback account and new shop account. It is the same as Shopback.

Assume that unless T&C says otherwise.

  • Is there a coupon code for 30% off $39 on new accounts. Doesnt seem to auto apply

    • I found some websites listing coupon AUSNEW30 , but i haven't tried it myself

      • Invalid

  • Referral stacks?

  • +1

    What's 30% off coupon ?

  • Thanks OP thanks CR.

  • Cheers OP, finally used this website. Will update whether it tracks or not for future reference.

  • +1

Well, I placed an order. Hopefully arrives on time… but more importantly hopefully it tracks. Hasn't so far… always had instantly for Cashrewards in the past…

Didn't see or get any 30% off $39+ order coupon though. Anyhow, spent $46 so hopefully it tracks in full and is (ex-gst) nearly free…

    • +1

My purchase tracked at only $14.09….. that's like 30%?

Edit: never mind, there are two different teachings for my order. Looks like it's correct, $44 ish! Great!

Tracking took about 12 hours for me.

  • +1

    *VPNs can break tracking
    *Allow third-party cookies
    *Disable your ad block software

    • Attach selfie with the credit card in your teeth, showing both sides.
    • Yeah and on top of that you have to dodge the Temu spinning wheels and all the other bs they throw at you

  • +2

It's the first time! What a shi**y website Temu has. On top, CR was tripping too, I logged out of my partner's account and logged into mine on my laptop but it still used my partner's account when clicked through to Temu. Can a CR rep comment on this?

  • Does anyone know how long it will take to track the transactions?

    • +1

      Typically 24 hours

  • +1

    Ordered, hopefully it tracks…

    • Mine just tracked, but I realised I messed up by forgetting about GST so only getting $44 tracked

  • Ugh. Had $100+ in my cart, but couldn't get the 30% new user code to apply so I gave up

  • +4

Ordered last night, no tracking yet 😬

    • +2

      Same here :(

    • +1

It takes time, should I expect it to track within 24 hours from my experience

      • Can confirm still waiting. Ordered about 6pm est.

        • I ordered last night around 12am and got the tracking at 12.15pm!

    • same here, still waiting

  • Ordered 10pm last night and still waiting for tracking….
    Anyones ordered got tracked?

  • +1

Yay - tracking just came through! Took 16 hours

  • +1

    True. Just received it too..

  • +1

For some reason the 3 items i ordered as a 'new temu customer' got put through in 2 orders. So cashrewards has treated them as 2 seperate cashbacks. They both got tracked at 100%, but I'd say they won't pay 100% on the 2nd order as a 'new customer'.
All 3 items were done in 1 transaction though.
    Any thoughts anyone ?

  • +1

    Yep mine just tracked too.

Order total was $52.32 and cashback was $45.65 which is confusing but w/e

    • +2

Cashback is always excluding GST :-)

  • +1

Mine is new Temu account, brought $50+ but tracked $2 ish, anyone else experiencing this?

    • +1

      same here.

  • +2

Over 20 hours but has not tracked. Consensus is, if not tracked within 24 hours, likely won't track after that. Getting ready for CR's incompetent customer service.

    • +1

Same here. Order placed at 6PM AEDT and still not tracking. Click history shows I navigated to Temu via Cashrewards but no tracking ☹️

      • I gave up. Others had said they got tracking when they ordered later than me, so I cancelled before it shipped. Still no tracking 24 hours later.

      • Same here, have been over 24 hours but still not tracked :(

        • I'm curious if there's anything "special" the others are doing to get their transaction tracked. Like using a particular browser or transacting on the mobile phone. I used Chrome on a computer, the same browser that I use for all other Cashrewards transactions which have tracked in the past. No VPN or custom DNS so not sure what is going on.

          • @ganjadeals: Same with you. I was using Google Chrome on a Window computer with Adblock turned off and not in incognito mode either. Had no problem with the tracking using the same gadgets before other than this time.

          • @ganjadeals: I used edge with default settings. No VPN. Always worked for aliexpress. This time was on my work laptop, so there is a chance crowdstrike was doing something.

            • @flagger: Also use edge for cashbacks, never had tracking issues until now. Not sure if I should cancel before it ships or just leave it and take my chances with a CR claim.
