I have this, if all you do is read books id suggest Kindle is better?

I read and markup, so the colour is nice to do that

The kindle has a crisper screen , well my partners old Paperwhite side by side does.

    It's too small for PDFs.

I have a meta pen but don't use it much, no fusking dock for it.

I manage all my books on Calibre and sideload only via cable and did so on my old Kindle as well. The Kindle was only connected to Wifi once to set up ownership.

I have down loaded 2 firmware updates on the Kobo, the last one fixed an annoyance over not being able to turn it back on if the screen cover was folded back to cover the off/on switch becase the switch was covered.

No charge LED is super annoying, has it finished charging ? No idea at a glance.

Can now power on via the page turn button,

I really like the page turn buttons.

I went from Kindle -> Libra2 -> This (just now).

IMO, if you want the kindle store, get a Kindle. If you want to use epub calibre, the Kobo is way better.

Also, no Overdrive support on Kindle for Australia so not a good option if you borrow books.

Good price, but the quality control is poor. I went through two units of this model at JB Hi-Fi and had to return them. Both had a lot of dead pixels, and the screen was darker/dimmer than normal black and white. If you decide to buy this model, it’s best to purchase from a store with an easy return policy.

I had this with my Kobo a year or two ago when I bought it.

The backlight on several units had a heavy green coloration, it was apparently a known issue as they just swapped them until the 3rd unit that didn't have the issue.

All colour eReaders are dimmer than BW ones. That's a side effect of the Kaleido screen tech

Good luck withdigidirect. They didn't ship my order after 2 weeks and I spent a month gettinga refund. Avoid unless you go to the shop and they have the stock. It seems they dropship

I highly suggest trying out the colour eink devices in-store. People's experiences vary, and some may not appreciate the poor B&W experience on colour eink. Some people don't mind it. Best to come to your own conclusion for your own needs.

Great price. Bought mine on release and love it.

  • This or wait for Kindle Colorsoft?

Well, this isn’t great. I have one. Feels toy like. Calibre works but is cumbersome if you already have a collection of books in the Kindle store. Your notes won sync between the two devices.

That said, not sure if a color kindle would be better in terms of how the color is implemented.
