    • Don't know why you've been begged so much for a joke.

      • its Ozbargin lol its hard to say.

  • Highly recommend that if you buy this, get a cover. Will keep it cooler for longer and be more efficient as well.

Buyer beware, I ordered one from their ebay store during the Black Friday sale and followed them up on an eta after a week of zero communication to be told a day after that it was OOS. It took another week of messaging them to get a refund back due to being OOS.

In the end, I picked one up from a store while I waited a week for the refund.

The staff at the store said that a few have had nothing but dramas with the eBay store which is run by head office.

For the sake of a few dollars, I wouldn’t bother with their eBay store.

  • low energy consumption
    High efficiency

This comment notes that a smaller unit is very power hungry (5Ah). Anyone have any stats on this unit?

    Review on website:

3/5 stars - High amp compressor with a poor sealing around the door that is not well isolated to save some power.

    • that one is dual zone and smaller ?

      • Yep, sorry - just edited the post.

    • 80w, it's on page 10 of the user manual, not the best rating, but real world figures are usually much lower than stated figures, and if it's more capable at cooling than another system of a lower power rating it may not run as long before reaching minimum temperature setting and then resting, the thing that detracts from small fridges regardless of AC or DC is insulation.

Bought this 18 months ago for $320.
It's been a great unit. Have been using it for storing birthday cakes leading upto the party date.

    • Will it fit in the boot of a mazda 3 sedan

    • +1

Must have a lot of birthdays to beed a dedicated fridge.

      • +3

Birthday cakes take a lot of room in the fridge. Having a party food fridge is great for all the additional food stuff. Esky is used for drinks where the capsule is frequently opening and closing

  • whats a good battery to pair with this?

  • $299 for the version which supports a separate battery

$50 more for the versatility might be worth it

    • +4

Plus $200 for the 15Ah battery.

Probably better to spend that $250 on a portable power station with >2x the capacity and other functionality.

    • +2

The batteries are average at best. Low Ah and reviews suggest they have issues with disconnecting while moving and dying after 12 months.
Might be good with a solar panel but it would be best to use an external power source like a power station or Kings 24Ah portable power pack (Can't vouch for quality of these)

I thought most ozb'ers have the Yard Force 1200W Solar Power Station :)

I also just recently bought the Kings 24Ah LiFePO4 60W just prior to the Yard Force.

I intend to test both batteries on this to see how long they'll keep this running for

    • The 15ah battery is normally $279 (biggest of the 3 bats they offer for this unit) on special at $199 at the moment, won't power the thing for very long, a 60ah lithium from that crap company Kings is $179 on special, lots of people like their lithiums, so no, it's not worth it IMO! the benefit is it's compact and there would be less voltage drop loses as it plugs directly into the unit.

    • Has anyone tried using their ozito batteries with these? There's a stepdown adaptor for about $38 on ebay which converts 18v to 12v. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/305918997285?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mk…

      • +2

Theoretically you would get 1/3 extra AH at 12v, these are 80w rated draw units, probably draw less in reality, you'd be swapping batteries every few minutes, and you'd need to rest the compressor for several minutes each time to allow the high and low pressure systems to settle.

These run on between 12 to 24v (11 to 30v in reality, the lower voltage to protect a 12v battery from undercharging the higher voltage to accommodate the charging voltages of a 24v system) … so not necessary, they would run directly off an 18v battery, you'd need to parallel a bunch to get any worthwhile run time, be cheaper to buy a 12 or 24v lithium battery to run it.

  • Can you stand 1.25L drink bottle upright?

    • Fridge Height 450mm and a 1.25 bottle is about 290mm

So I would say so, yes.

    • The bottom area will fit 5x4 1.25L bottles of soft drink and the shelf which sits on top of the compressor fits 5x2 375ml cans

    • +1

I picked this one up for 250, plus the 15.6Ah battery for another 200. Great deal.
Charges via the car cigarette lighter, or there is a same brand solar panel which is another $200.

Could never justify buying an Engel but for $450 sure why not.

  • "Some would call it 'cozy"

  • @Series4Episode10

  • Noob question is the included mains power adapter for home use? Can you just plug it in the normal 240v outlet? Thanks

    • -1

i think you can buy something else cheaper and more efficient for home use?

      • +3

But you can pre cool it or plug into 240v on site

      • But this is great for a backup fridge or freezer at home when needed, like at parties.

        • Yep. Ive got 2 40litre camping fridges and when my main fridge broke i set them.both up and i dodnt have to go out and buy a new fridge strait away. I could wait for a special which was handy.

      • Cheaper maybe, I live off-grid …DC fridges are hard to beat power usage stats, I'm currently waiting for a new DC fridge, old one died, old DC unit used less than 60watts, it was small, running a 4 star 240v fridge off an inverter while waiting for new fridge, the AC fridge uses about 300watts after initial startup then settles to about 280watts, the DC fridge which is rated at 70watts and is a similar size will use less than 70watss IME, most ratings are the absolute max a thing can ever draw excluding start up rush current, my 900 watt nutribullet has never exceed 480watts and commonly uses about 230 when milling grains with the milling attachment, this unit is rated at 80w … could be better but way less than anything 240v, AC bar fridges use about double.

    • +1

Yes, the larger fridges come with both 12v and 240 adaptors.

    • +1

      Yes

    • +4

This unit definitely comes with both 12v cigarettes and 240v home outlet
