  • can you fast charge these via a solar panel?

  • Code not working

    • Are you using ZIP as payment method?

Need to be paid by zip

      • Cheers

I got one in the last deal and it runns pretty good as a going shopping in town buffer for a fridge, in the shade on 30 day I kept my 65L Escape fridge running set to -10 for 6 hours, around 20 set to 0 (nothing in the fridge except a water bottle mind you

    • So as a freezer at -10?

      • +2

Yes, set to -10 it still hadn't fully frozen the 1.25 water by the time it was flat though, probably 60% iced…

        • +1

Most portable fridges are actually crap at freezing stuff, they are more for keeping stuff frozen.

          • +1

@Calvin27: Yup, once you add something not frozen already, expect the compressor to go 100% cycle if you don't have alot of stuff in it

  • +1

    FYI the capacity is: 307.2Wh

    • The equivalent of 4 4ah drill batteries.

      • +1

Depends on voltage. It would be more than that for usual drill battery voltages

  • Could I power a fridge like this: https://www.bcf.com.au/p/engel-mt-v45f-fridge-freezer-40l/58…

If so, for how long could I power it?

    • +3

Yes. But depends on power draw.

At the fridge’s lowest power draw (0.5A), the battery could last approximately 48 hours. At its highest power draw (3.0A), the battery could last around 8 hours. In and out of usage (variable current draw), maybe 24 to 36 hours? Depends on if you have a cover on the fridge, the outside temp, how often you open/close the fridge.

      • Thank you so much. How would this Kings battery differ from those that are $1000+?

        • Are you referring to like a power station? Yes, they are very different. This is a smaller battery compared to those. All depends what you are specifically trying to compare to.

        • +1

This is a basic lifepo4 pack with a ciggy output and usb type c. Power stations come with alot more circuitry like solar charge controllers and 240v inverters.

If your sole purpose is for powering 12v appliances, this is pretty cheap for the capacity it offers.

    • It tells you in details of fridge - " POWER CONSUMPTION 0.5A to 3.0A per hour (12V DC) " so at 3A per hour 8 hours run time. I would think less than that in real world usage, imo.

    • I use it as a buffer, it's not realistic as a sole power source. in my car the fridge runs off it directly, and when car is running - the battery is also charging at the same time (via a cig 60-100w usb-c) so I can basically sit in town a few hours, or take some time to setup camp with the fridge all happy (and organise whatever external power I have access to)(edit: more better grammar)

      • The guy at kings yesterday told me "we had 2 older ones come back last month. They didn't even get rma as they used em while charging which voids the warranty…

Take that for what u will

Ended up buying the jackery 500 for $350 at bunnings as it was over 40ah, has 240 out etc so if blackout more useful

        • +2

I wonder how they could tell that you used it while charging. Could just say it failed while in normal use right?

        • How did you get the Jackery 500 for $350?

  • Anyone know if this support pass through charging?
Want to hook it up to charge while the car is running and powering a fridge.

    • +2

      Yes as per previous comment

      • This voids warranty according the their sales person

        • I doubt the sales person knows what pass through means and just tried to cover themselves.

          • @mlakmlak: Some would, but not sure how they could see/prove that unless you told them.

            Now we know better…….

            • +1

@ozhunter68: I also wondered how they know being just store staff, I imagine they asked.

              :)

          • +1

@mlakmlak: Lol got ,the same thing from two staff

            • @Slippery Fish: Did this happen to you (faulty battery), if so did you tell staff, or just test out and ask staff?

    • Looks like the 36ah supports this function but not the 24ah. the 36ah also supports solar input.

      • Yeah, few upgrades. If I were to buy one now, I would hang out for a deal on that if not in a hurry (not discounted much yet as new), but at this price the 24 Ah is good value and bit smaller/lighter, if you can plan for slower charging and less capacity. You could get 2 of these for same price, which could work even better. Can always solar charge using DC input and cheap solar charger.

To work out fridge run time, divide the power the unit contains (~300Wh) by power draw in watts from the electrical compliance sticker and assume the compressor is running 50% of the time on a hot day.

My fridge runs at 45w so:
    ~300Wh /45w x 2 = 13 hours (very roughly)

There are lots of factors that can alter this such as ambient temperature and whether the contents were pre-chilled so its only a rough guide.
It is OK to run the battery right down to 0% as it is LiFePO4

  • Any luck taking one of these on a plane? Will they read labels?

    • Haha, good luck.
