85 a month for 12 months of 1000/50. Didn’t check other plan value. About what Superloop was on Black Friday deal.
nbn HFC note: Southern Phone 1000/50 is only available in selected HFC areas. 1000/50 HFC is available from just about any other ISP.

True to my word, I'm back after contacting customer service as I didn't want to be behind CG-NAT.
The first level customer service tried a few times, then escalated to next level and was completed in a couple of minutes.
Now have a public IP address and they were awesome to deal with, nothing bad to say at this time.
And the network speeds even during the peak times is faster than with Superloop. I'll be back with any other updates.
How's your experience going? I'm considering churning from Exetel
@iMagoo: Absolutely zero problems so far.
Speeds are as good if not better than my previous connection with Superloop.
If this continues on the same positive path, there is absolutely no need for me to leave Southern at any time, even if a competitor had a price within $10-15 of what I'm paying.
Good luck and I expect you will have the same experience if you churn to Southern.
Can anyone with FTTP with no battery pack kindly send me the photo of the NTD adaptor.
thanks.
I need one of those too.

This isn't the stock standard one but it will work. Mine is inside under the cover and I don't have time to take a pic atm, just about to head out the door to work.
12v 1amp
Thanks mate. I had looked at that one and Jaycar also showing one 12v with 2.5a. So I was not sure which one match the spec. My NTD Model is G-240G-P.
I have joined 1000mbps plan today as I missed superloop deal.
Ookla speed results are way better then my last one on same plan with other provider
Download speed 652mbps (12:30pm AEDT)
Upload speed 50mbps as of now
NOTE: I have several device running with wifi (10 atleast)
Your download result means absolutely nothing testing on wifi.
I'd probably say thats real world performance. fwiw I was getting 900+ when running tests from route and likely would get similar speeds on wifi on sustained download if the server uploading could support it.
If anyone is signing up for a future date (dare say most as they have paid in advance) there is a known issue and it resets on the last "review" page to today's date.
I asked if I could submit it and then they update but they have to do it for me.
EDIT: just as I sent that they said technical support is closing at 6pm my time so they can edit the date if I place the order myself haha
My discounted AGL NBN expired recently so signed up with Southern Phone yesterday on the 100/20 plan. After signing up only got the "Your connections are underway! You will hear from our team shortly, please check your email inbox." screen.
Today I received an SMS advising my connection has been completed. No idea how payment will work but I assume I should receive an email eventually. Also assuming I don't need to do anything with my previous AGL connection as I marked the order as a transfer.
Note that I understand AGL NBN and Southern Phone are essentially the same company.
You log in and add your payment details…very odd way of doing it tbh
Thanks, I registered for the portal a few hours ago and never received the email. Also tried a forgotten password and haven't got the email either.
Will be going home soon hoping I have internet.
yeah. comms aren't a strong point with them I've noticed .
Is 1000/50 only available on business?? - That seems to be the case with my address on the website… anyone else having the same?
I'd rather not phone up at the moment but will if I have to!
What a joke. Can’t sign up to HFC 1000 even though I’ve had it with 2 other providers at this address.
This or the Leaptel deal for 1000/50?
Well leaptel is more expensive…. so…
I've been with Leaptel before and never had issues.
They just can't match Southern's deals right now.
Not a good sign - the phone number listed on their business plans to sign up is disconnected…
Prob office closed for holiday break.
It's alright, just called their main number.
I confirmed that they can set a later start date, and that 1000/50 was available at my address when it wasn't visible in the residential plans (only business).
I'll be cancelling my spintel, getting a date and then porting over as soon as I can.
During checkout my connection date (I choose mid Jan 2025) ,revert back to today
Anyone else experienced that as well
1.5 out of 5 from 70 reviews on trustpilot says something about the company
https://au.trustpilot.com/review/southernphone.com.au
I'm like you, always looking at reviews on various sites before I make a decision… But with most things, usually people only comment if they have a bad experience, not always, but it's typically those that want to vent and not enough people with good experience making the effort to put in a review.
From my experience, if it helps, Southern Phone have been awesome in the connection time, speeds at all times and customer service fixing a public IP for me. And the price reduction is the cherry on top.
Good luck with your decision.
For anyone on HFC who "can't" get 1000/50 plan via the website, simply use their online chat and they will sign you up manually - signed up via chat on Friday afternoon & was connected at sometime early Saturday morning - used their chat again on Sunday and simply asked for a public IP and within a couple of minutes that was done without any hassle or having to speak to anyone!
For $85 a month for 12 months - hard to beat deal…so far achieving around 875/48 (tested @ 9pm on a Sunday) so I'm pretty happy!
I can’t see the link to their online chat. Where did you find that?
Great deal, however I have a few issues:
1. They don’t let me get more than 100 down, which tells me they’re likely over contending their backbone/ core. And they’ve dropped high tier plans for the CVC’s in my area
2. They push for a credit check - this is a massive red flag for me. As no ISP should be running credit checks prior to providing a service. (Note any credit checks on your credit file are listed there for 7 years and are generally considered a bad thing and affects how often and what you can loan from home loans to… whatever I don’t have anything apart from a home loan. (I know this from when I performed work for Veda)
My experience:
Signed up last Friday 4pm nbn Basic $45mth for the first 12 months.
Provisioning / Activation took 5hrs, no internet till 9pm but for the price with cashback it's worth the wait lol…
Today's bill invoice was a bit of a disappointment showing a charge of $49 instead of $45 and 6 month Honeymoon offer instead of 12 months.
Customer service call at 3pm was good,
Only a short 8min wait connecting me to an overseas call centre & on request to be transfered higher up was connected to an Australian customer service representative :) Happy
Paying for 1000/40 and only getting 300/20 with southern phone. Tested with 2m good quality cat6 on each run to the PC. Contacted support multiple times and they won't explain why it's happening or try to fix it. And they haven't offered to put me on a lower plan. Would avoid them. It did start out at only 100mbps and when i complained to live chat the speed went up to 300 but won't go any higher.
Ipoe or ppoe set up?
PPPoE. Any idea which is best?
Signed up to transfer from ABB last night about 9pm.
Woke this morning to a txt from Southern that cutover was complete.
No router reboot of reconfig needed (Opnsense)
942 down & 46 up at Penrith POI
Easiest cutover ever !
Same experience as you, woke up to messages that it happened and without a router reboot, I was saving $25 per month and speeds like yours.
My ABB just went back up to $129 from the promo of $109
So a saving of $44 per month now with Southern
Can you use the Telstra Smart Modem 2 with this provider without changing any modem settings like you can with Superloop thanks?
If you need to make any setting changes is it easy to do? Thanks
Was about to sign-up but they asked my employment status and stuff to run a credit check. Wonder why you need a credit check on a no lock-in contract.
So happy that I changed, getting 837/44 on wired connection and 790/44 on wireless laptop. Mobile phones are not getting good speeds but they are helping me update the DNS settings to Google IP addresses (all new to me)…So when changing internet providers what settings do I need to change on the modem and should I be asking each provider every time I move?
Lots of dns options, I switch over to nextdns or something recently. Random link with other options https://www.techradar.com/news/best-dns-server. Someone more network nerd than me will will correct but ultimately the recursive nature of dns should resolve fqdn to IP but by choosing one of the big dns providers you’re more likely to get a response sooner that if you used the ISP or your own.
Also, one and done once you’ve set your dns option manually on router assuming clients are set up to adopt dns setting and you’re not rolling your own internally
Yeah that all sounds great but I have no idea what you’re talking about. That’s why I contacted the provider to help me set it up.
how to get upload speed to 44 why mine kept showing 22-26 :(
No idea sorry, contact them via chat or call and they are super helpful.
Super easy transfer from other isp to southern phone. Applied online later afternoon yesterday, and received email and msg around 2am and everything is ready. The speed is 770/47 at the time of testing with my asus router app via 5g wifi connection to my iPhone. Very happy with this smooth transition. Hope the network is stable as previous ISP. Then more than happy to pay few extra monthly for upgrading from 250/25 to this speed.
Hope my comments helps for those are still thinking. Only thing is that have not got any information about the billing yet, maybe later via the emails.
Right now I signed up with the online portal, the billing information is 105 per month. Not align with $85, I think the actual invoice will be offering $20 off as special discount for the next 12 months.
Hi all, for those have already got the first invoice, can u pls share the insights? Thx
Hi guys, just a little update here. Just as I thought they will give $20 discount for the next 12 month for the service. Happy ending. :)
I got my first bill a few days after joining.
Just signed up to the $65/m plan, coming from paying $90/m at Amaysim…
TCB tracked within minutes at 50% (for one moment, $32.50).
Thanks for sharing!
Anyone receive scam within 24hr of signing up?
Got this just now:
Your Southern Phone account remains overdue. Please pay $49.00 (GST incl.) at southernphxxe.com.au/pay-my-bill. Experiencing financial hardship? See our policy sthnphxxe.com/fh including payment plan options. Contact 13 14 64 M - F, 8am to 6pm (AEST) or email [email protected]
I've not received anything like that.
Sounds a bit odd and concerning.
My bad… it was my other property's NBN… totally forgot…
Just signed up to the $75 p/m plan. The entire experience has been super smooth and zero hassles! Thanks for sharing OP! 😊
Transferred from Tangerine today - Can't go wrong with 1000/50 $85/Month
Seems like the best deal around.
Topcashback also tracked straight after ordering (Pretty impressive)
Had a good experience shifting from Superloop (as a long time customer) to Southern - paying less and getting 2.5 x the speed.
Same here, I moved from Superloop as a long term customer, never had an issue with their service, however I've found more consistently faster speed with Southern and a $25 reduction per month.
I am currently on more 250 HFC plan and my address supports 1000 as well, but only see plans up to 100 with southern phone :/
I think someone said to try calling them.
Yep I rang and they hooked me up no problem.
i tried to chat but they asked to call 131464
how does it work ? do we need to give id and payment details over the phone ? :O
Yeh I think that's how I did it. Honestly didn't register in my brain enough to remember.
…Actually I think I didn't need to setup payment details as you do it through as SMS link after the phone call to sign up.
@Thiefsie: thanks mate, gonna try :)
@Thiefsie: all good, it is up and running, I got 913/48 over Wifi and didn't try to check over Eth :D
Is anyone having trouble connecting to their website?
Does Southern Phone have Looking Glass website to check international ping? Anyone knows what sort of international routing is used?
happy to run some command here if that helps.
If you could tell me the ping for countries like Singapore, India and Bangladesh, then it would be great :) . Just choose a server in here: https://www.speedtest.net/

@tsk2: Looks good! Thanks a lot :) .
@DealHunterBD: it does? when I saw the first couple of numbers come through I was a bit shocked but I guess its the standard line "you connection is only as fast as the slowest in the link"
I'll make sure I come back here to update on the crap isp point along my journey :)
