Do you need to buy the chicken powder or the egg powder first?

    • The government license first.

    • Chicken Flavour (contains EGG) (2%)

    • First you need a car or bike or some way to get to woolies.

    • +1

Only after it's crossed the road.

    • You buy the egg powder first as long as you have some chicken powder in the cupboard.

    • Powered eggs? Too exxy for Ozbargain

Not surprisingly, main ingredient is MSG (624 flavor enhancer)

    • +1

Nice. Wasn't going to buy it, but now I want it.

      edit: You have mislead us.

624 is monoammonium glutamate, not monosodium glutamate.

      • +2

        Mag!

    • +3

Main ingredient is salt - 220g of it.

  • Does anyone know where to buy the same brand of fish stock cubes? Seems to have disappeared

For anyone who is used to using Knorr "Yellow" Chicken Powder which just has an outline of a chicken on the front, this is a different product. I have no idea how close they are in taste, but they are not the same.

The "yellow" chicken powder has the following ingredients (including MSG [E621]) and is made in China:

Salt, Flavour Enhancers (621, 631, 635), Maltodextrin (from maize), Cornstarch, Flavourings (contain Egg), Sugar, Chicken Meat Powder (4.0%), Vegetable Oil, Chicken Fat (0.5%), Yeast Extract Powder, Thickener (415), Spice, Colour (150d).

The chicken powder being advertised here has the following ingredients (with monoammonium glutamate [E624] instead of MSG) and is made in Turkey:

Salt, Cornstarch, Flavour Enhancer (624), Sugar, Onion Powder, Sunflower Oil, Chicken Meat Powder (2%), Chicken Flavour (contains egg) (2%), Chicken Fat (0.5%), Yeast Extract, Celery Powder, Thickener (415), Garlic Powder, Flavour Enhancers (631, 627), Colour (150d).

The inclusion of onion powder, celery powder and garlic powder suggests that it is adapted for use in European/Western cooking (whereas the yellow chicken powder is popular for Asian cooking; Lee Kum Kee does a very similar product).

    • Thank you! I was just about to head out and buy out my local store but the new one isn't Low FODMAP! :(

chickens Knorr that they crossed the line with MSG.

    • +1

It's nice they are making an Asian version, but why do they insist on calling it "yellow"?

  • +1

jv would like to know if it includes the neck and feet.

  • Wtf is chicken powder?

      • aka the dust that builds up everywhere, at the chicken noodle soup factory.

  • Wow now it's the same price as everyday at the Asian grocery shop

  • Saw a guy at the back of the crematorium selling it cheaper than this.

  • I have a relative who swears by this stuff to a fault. She's like look I made this soup with nothing but an old chicken wing and a cup of this powder.

  • Can I just use these to make the soup broth that most Chinese restaurant serve you when you order a set menu?

    • I think those soup don't use this one. Just chicken/ pork bones and carrots, corn etc and little bit of msg. Don't need msg when you are cooking at home tho.

      kinda like the ABC soup.
