IKEA UPPSPEL Sit/Stand Table Underframe $375 (Was $750) + Delivery ($0 C&C) @ IKEA

660

Looks like a good deal (half price RRP) for those looking for a sit stand desk like me.

Seems sturdy when I checked in store, probably someone who already owns this can confirm?

    anyone got one of these?

    • +1

I have one, but i got the complete desk and $198 in an earlier deal.

      It's been great, no complaints

    • I got one. My desktop is 200cm wide and it's excellent. Very sturdy.

  • +20

    Min height of 70cm
    Max load of 70kg
    No table top

I think the ozb favourite is a lazy Maison? Typically +100kg load, dual motor, better min height

    • +1

Yep I’m sitting at a Maison right now 😀

    • +3

      Or even a flexispot

      • how are their desks? is it stable enough?

        • +6

So far so good. I have the E5 which I've attached to a Bunnings 220cm beech panel as my desktop. Along with a heavy duty monitor arm + 42" LG C2 TV.

        • Have 2x flexispot E7 desks with solid wood tops from a bench maker. Each with 2x monitor arms and pretty heavy PC's on them.
Super solid even when fully raised and would definitely recommend

          • @Pyrock: Got an E7 Pro arriving Monday. Glad everyone is shitting on this IKEA frame as I was having serious buyer's remorse!

      • Using E7 with an old desktop. Similar price but more solid, rated 160kg.

    • I can only see Maisons with 71cm min height. Where are you seeing less?

    • -1

Thanks. Saved me from a regretful buy. That height is a joke. My current one (Manual one that I operate with Ryobi Drill) is at 110cm max height, which is where I put it when I stand. Thought this would be a good upgrade to automatic but nope.

      • +2

The max height of this one is 120cm

        • Oh, you're right man. Ok back in the game but seems mixed reviewes on how sturdy this is

  • The Max width is 180cm but they don't have a matching 180cm Uppspel top. Can you use any of their other 180cm tops?

    • -1

Scroll to the bottom of that page. They show a ‘set’ with a top and the top on it’s own for 119.

      • That table top is 140cm only. The max width of the Uppspel base is 180cm so the top won't fit at max width.

        • Oh, right I get you now. I don’t see would you not be able to screw on any sized top you like?

    • also seeking 180cm table top but seems to be gone from Ikea.

      • Yeah they used to have a 180cm Uppspel. I currently have a 180cm Utespelare but I see they don't have that either.

They do have them on the US store but that doesn't help us here.

        • do you think 60cm wide table top is ok for this frame? Or does it require 80cm wide ?

          • @ggfatty: No clue. IKEA only officially starts the Uppspel top.

  • +11

For what its worth these were on clearance down to $150 for the base + $49 for the table top during the mid year sale.
I'm salty they never restocked until now.

    • +2

      HODL

    • If only the product gets ID's at ozbargain, might sub and hodl

    • Yep, I wonder if they'll honor the click and collect they cancelled on me then?
      Also salty.

  • -7

    This is frame only…

    • +37

The joys of being able to read - well done!

      • -2

        Username checks out

        • +1

That's actually a really good come back I must admit

  • -2

I’ve tested this in multiple stores and I thought it was quite unsturdy, but it’s also much cheaper than other higher quality standing desk frames, and has ikea warranty too! Just depends on your expectation.

    • This is normal frame price for many brands. There are only a few manufacturers in the market, with many products just being these but with a company badge, last I checked.

If the frame is good then this price is fine.

I use a Fortia, 120kg, 60-126cm frame. I find it's good. But I'm not in a position where I would be overly concerned with wobble (not that I find it wobbly, but I think some people get more worked up about it than is reasonable). It cost me about the same as this but has dual motors and higher load rating.

Note that all options wobble slightly as the legs are telescoping, they have to be.

      • I agree with you here. I also have the Fortia standing desk. I got the 140cm table top with a single motor for around $180 (pick up). Very good value and comes with free delivery or cheaper if you can pick it up from their warehouse at Seven Hills.

        • link? was that price on a deal

  • +2

Woolies has 20x bonus points on Ikea gift cards to essentially get 10% more off

    • Is this instore only? I can't see this offer online.

  • Anyone know how the motor mechanism works? Like is it gear or chain driven or what?

Might weld up a frame and make one myself if the hardware isn't too expensive.

    • +6

Honestly how many projects do you have on the go already? This is one of the situations where you just need to value your time

Plus you'd be better off with dual motor to improve capacity. Getting motors to run synchronous so it doesn't jam and break… Bleh, stuff that.

  • +1

Got two of these at the $150 mark; didn’t get the table top due to stock availability however I did mount a karlby kitchen top instead. Pretty stable however only one downside is that the table is a bit high even at the lowest height setting at 71.9cm.

Edit: Idasen is a much better sit stand desk table

    • +1

Yeah I'm super short, I grabbed a manual Idasen about a year ago so I could have a 60cm desk and it's been wonderful. Manually changing the height doesn't even seem doable tbh but I've never wanted to, I rate it.

    Secretlab MAGNUS Pro!!!

  • +2

Bought this one in june for 150, bought the 160CM table top to match it.
Compare with Lazy Masion, it is so much sturdy then Lazy , which I have returned within 7days.

Compare to Updown desk, it is on par with it if not better.
And package price for this is around 300 compare to updown desk 800+.

70KG is enough, table top is 20, ROG case is 25, 32 monitor is 7, so still plenty KG left.

    • +3

Can’t have recreational activities on the table though.

      • +1

just drop it (like it's hot) to the lowest position first, then go for gold.

    • Compare to Updown desk, it is on par with it if not better.

      Lol, sure it is.

I remember testing one of these out in-store, it was unbelievably wobbly from the slightest touch in both sitting and standing positions. You really do get what you pay for when it comes to sit-stand desks.

Also the Uppsell's specs are far inferior to the UpDown desk frames/motors:

      • Min/max height range is less (72 - 120cm versus 62 - 127cm).
      • Maximum loading is far less (70kg versus 150kg).
      • Maximum table top size is far smaller (140cm vs 205cm).
      • Doesn't have a 10 year warranty.
  • PSA: Be aware there's some eclectic pattern stuff on the angled bracket at the bottom.

  • +3

I have one of these, bought during COVID for WFH and I am pleased with it.

It was a bitch to assemble to be honest though but its great for my setup with 2 x 27" monitors plus 1 cat

  • These are absolutely shocking. I bought one and returned immediately, do yourself a favour and go for Omnidesk or something.

    • +1

Can you share why it's crap?

    • Just piggybacking off your comment to plug UpDown Desk. I've been using their 150cm bamboo desk for several years now. It doesn't skip a beat. Obviously it costs a lot more but you get what you pay for with these.

      • I got an updown desk recently, and whilst it's really good, only downside is that its a bit wobbly when typing. It's the KLINK series Melamine 180cm. Still trying to work out a way to get it to be less wobbly when typing.

        • I can't say I have that problem with my Pro Series bamboo table top however, even UpDown themselves market the Pro series as being more stable due to the assembly method for the Pro series using bolts/screws whereas the KLIK series seem to use a mostly tool-less assembly with most of the components joining together with clips/interlocking joinery (click on the "Full Comparison Table" link on that page). The Pro series frame is also nearly double the weight of the KLIK series, which would add to its stability. That plus melamine being lighter than any of the hardwood table tops is probably why you're noticing more wobble with your desk.

All sit-stand desks will have some wobble when in standing position though, that's normal, especially at or near the maximum standing height.

    • +1

Idasen is the only real sturdy Ikea sit stand desk.

  • I have owned mine since 2019 (I think) I haven't used any other updesk but if this one broke tomorrow I would buy another one immediately.

Have 4 different customisable heights settings, stops on any type of resistance and goes the opposite way for a second.

Really good quality and so was the top that I got from IKEA at the same time.

  • I got this just yesterday with the 140x80 top. Frame build is mighty sturdy, it's a heavy metal. Motor tackles the heavy 140x80 table top with ease, moves smoothly and no noise grunt. Very happy of the purchase, was lucky with the price discount. Will easily support a monitor arm as the table top is solid. Some nice features, the lift controller has a decent USB-A charger, a cable organiser tray also included. Love the matt black look.

  • Simply get a bench top from Bunnings and cut it, this is what I have done and I am happy with it so far since June's purchase

    • I have a spare 60cm bench top would it fit the frame ? Or need to get 80cm wide ? thanks

      • Mine is 60cm in width, it just fits perfectly only if you don't need a wide top

        • thanks!

  • +1

This comment by @Bedgrub helped heaps when I was making the decision!
Just throwing it out there in case it helps someone else.

  • I bought this table top from Ikea and it works perfect. The holes on the table won't align so just need to screw the it in yourself.

  • +1

I have this one in black and has been great so I bought another one. It was close to $325 when I purchased it
    https://www.amazon.com.au/AIMEZO-Electric-Adjustable-Motoris…

It sits on a 2200mm x 900mm bunnings table top which I bought for $299

    • +1 for the Aimezo, it was recently on sale for $200/250 and took about 8 days to arrive.
Easy to setup and holds all the weight.

Paired it with the old IKEA worktop bargain I got.
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/560552

  • This has two stage legs - so limited in height range at bottom and top - also less stable at highest position.

I'd only get standing desks with three stage legs (and dual motors). There only seems to be one manufacturer globally - just get one with the right specs. Not this one.

    • Dual motors are good as it allows you to support a heavier load. However, you do double the chance of motor failure - if one motor fails then it won’t work properly anymore.

I don’t think much of this deal compared to something like this:

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/737481

  • I just bought a Flexispot E1 Standing Desk for $290 and it's a treat.

    • Where'd you get it from?

      • From their online shop, google Flexispot

  • any recommendations for a monitor arm ? have 2x27" Monitors.
I've read the OZB Fav is North Bayou - F100x2. But, the stock is not great. Thus, Open for recommendations.
