Comes with free bearing noise once warranty period is over

    • I just placed an order for this and now read your comment. Do you have this specific model or it's more generic comment about F&P washing machine?

      • +5

I've have had F+P 8kg, 9kg and 11kg and haven't had any issues with bearings (or anything else for that matter) in the last 3 years.

      • +1

I had 8.5 and have 10kg model never had such issues

      • +1

I’ve got F&P 11kg and haven’t had a single issue in 3 years. Great machine.

    • +1

Can confirm. Have a screaming bearing.

    • +2

I have experienced the same problem, just out of warranty. Dryer purchased at same time also has high-pitched whine. Wouldn't buy F&P again.

      • +3

        Try enforce ACL

    • -1

i'm having the exact same bearing noise issue. Will it stop to work or it's just the noise? I believe it's a matter of time before it seizes and the drum will stop to spin

      • This same model ?

        • old F&P 7 kg, that is around 8 years old now

  • +3

If you have AGL rewards you can get it down to even cheaper. AGL rewards has 4.5% off JB Hi-FI gift card (it shows 3% on AGL but if you click the link to buy it changes to 4.5%).

    • How quickly do you get these gift cards?

  • +4

I paid $1242 delivered, installed and old one removed back in September 2022.

Family use very regularly, no issues. Very happy with it. There was a promo back then with extended F&P 5 year warranty on parts and labour.

  • Would have got one but won't ship to Rockhampton or allow store pick up.

  • -5

How do I get the $809 price?

  • On their website they don't mention the country of origin? Are they made in China?

    • +1

Most likely. Apparently Haier owns F&P, which is Chinese.
I have checked a different 10kg F&P model at the store and it felt decently built. So did a LG and it was also made in China.

However, when I checked some other Chinese brands they felt a little flimsy. Front loaders are usually heavier but those Chinese brands didn’t not feel as heavy as F&P or LG, which lead me to think that they used less parts or cheaper parts. Mind you I am no expert and this is my first front loader.

      • I missed that Haier bought F&P. Way back in 2012 from Google. I did notice that some appliances look the same between the brands, but put it down to just subcontracted manufacture.

  • i wanted one of these in the past, I heard they crap now

    • How so?

      • Rust, bad auto dose, always out of balance.

  • The auto dose is shocking on this washer - I purchased this and a matching heat pump dryer.

The auto dose draw no matter how many times the replaced it or the inlet valves changed or I changed detergent would shot streams of bubbles streaming out of the machine.

Then there was the constant out of balance and vibration issues.

The dryer had the worst bearing noise.

Returned the units after dealing with F&P for 6 months with a LG 16/10 wash tower and have not looked back since. F&P are not what they used to be.

  • Front load washing machines seem like such duds

I have a f p top loader I bought of marketplace 10+ years ago for like $100 and it has never missed a beat

    • +1

More front load washing machine sales equals more comments.

No data on actual fail rates so most is just anecdotal.

      • Yeah fair enough
I just see so many comments about them failing
They are more gentle on clothes though and use less water

        • Wdym, I like my gym shorts drawstrings getting pulled out and stretched after getting tangled in my jeans.

          • @NatoTomato: This is certainly an issue if the machine is overloaded

    • FP top loaders a decade ago were class leading - not so anymore. Parent company influence is obvious - and thats speaking to the repair guy thet came out multiple times to fix my fp front loader which liked to create a bubble bath in my laundry.

76% on Choice, a strong score but it is not recommended due to the fact it has a sub 60% score on one category.

    Good points
    • Very good dirt removal
    • Excellent rinse performance
    • Has woollens wash (machine only)
    • Has extra rinse
    • Has internal light
    • Has detergent auto-dose

    Bad points
    • Only 54% for gentleness

    • Mate…any other commentary from Choice? Bought it last night but in double minds now to cancel

      • Message me your email and I'll send the review in full.

  • Our 2nd F&P 12kg front loader came with factory rust and black mould. F&P customer service said this is normal and Harvy Norman washed their hands with us.

Went onto facebook F&P page posted the images of our brand new machine within 30 minutes a rep called sorted the issue the next day the new machine delivered.

Try contacting F&P see if they can do a good repair or F&P facebook post warning people what happened just out of warranty and how long out of warranty.

Have this unit bought few months back for $1050 - the auto dose is terrible. Constantly leaves unused detergent or softener in the respective compartments. I’m now using the manual dispenser. Other than that washes fine and no bearing issue (yet).

    • Do you use powder or liquid detergent?

      • Auto dose only works with liquid. The recommendation for F&P was to water down the detergent even more. Didn't work - always ended up with bubbles all over the floor steaming from the auto dose compartment, even with a pressure regulator installed.

      • Only liquid. I’m actually curious how others with this model are working around this? I believe it’s only auto dispensing a very small amount as a result of the issue

        • Have you tried reducing the quality it disperses?

          • @riff.79: You mean quantity? I need it to increase as it barely dispenses

            • @Ashh77: Yeah quantity. I turn the setting down and I was still getting leaks and bubble baths on the floor, the default is 3, I set it to 1 and it was still a foam machine.

This seems like a bad brand to buy based on the comments. But if you decide to go for another brand… make sure to stay away from Samsung as well.

I have their 7.5kg "Bubble Wash" + dryer combo front loader and within a two years of use, the spider arms holding the drum corroded to the point where it broke off. The drying heater coil also stopped working.

I spent ~$170 on a new spider arm, and resetted the thermal fuse for the heating element myself….. and it's working okay now (caused by poor design where air is recirculated from the drum… but carried in soap and bubbles, blocking the heating chamber+heating element).

But if I wasn't skilled enough to do it, it would have been cheaper to buy a new one than get a technician sent out.

TLTR: Get a German made Miele or Bosch and you should be fine. Or get those really old LG top loader with the agitator pole in the middle… my mum's one is ~20 years old and works just like new.

  • Is there any 8kg Front load washing machine recommendations? Thanks

    • We have an 8kg Beko purchased 4 years ago. Nearly daily use washing heaps of kids clothes and it hasn't missed a beat. I think the current models are the same with some cosmetic differences.

They come with a 5 year warranty and are made in Turkey if that matters. If you go on YouTube the common faults are pretty much just nornal wear and tear - the front seal eventually gives up like most front loaders but you can replace it yourself cheaply.

  • I would not buy from F&P again.

Heat pump dryer had bearings issues and died twice within 2 years of purchase.

I'm currently waiting weeks on end for warranty repairs.
