Jackson Fast Charge USB-C Powerboard $21.50 (Was $43) @ Woolworths

520

I was looking for something to tidy up the office desk without having to worry about getting any additional USB hubs and I was eyeing one of those 2 outlets with 2 USB-A but it seems this one has an extra two outlets with 2 bonus USB-C for a little cheaper, it's no long compact but USB-C wins 🤷‍♂️

    • Would rather the usb-c ports on this one

        Same board, same item

He linked to QBagger's comment sharing this board on the other deal.

doesn't look like the USB-C supports PD? And with max 5V at 3.4A that's only 17w. Super fast USB-C chargers are around 25W so this one doesn't even come close. At best it will only do fast USB-C Charging. What a waste with the right components this should be able to do 100W USB-C to charge laptops as well..

Typical of most devices that give USB-C charging underpowered

    • Normal people will consider what else is available to call charging fast.

They're relying on the USB spec.

USB 1.0 and 2.0: A standard downstream port can provide up to 500 mA (0.5 A) at 5 volts, for a total power output of 2.5 watts
USB 3.0 and 3.1: A standard downstream port can provide up to 900 mA (0.9 A) at 5 volts, for a total power output of 4.5 watts
USB 3.0 dedicated charging and charging downstream ports: Can provide up to 1,500 mA (1.5 A), for a total power output of 7.5 watts
      USB Type-C 1.2: Can provide up to 3 A at 5 volts

So anything above 2.5W is going to be called "fast" in junk marketing.

If you need PD or proprietary fast charging, this one isn't for you.

  • Price matched this with Jbhifi but not buying it. DM me if anyone wants the link.

  • I price matched at Bunnings this morning.

Not even a single positive review on bunnings site.

      • JB's reviews are similar

Tried two of these, neither would charge from the USB ports, swapped it for a tapo board which works great

The usb ports don't actually work, have tried numerous cables and chargers with it. The overall powerboard also gets really hot. Seems to be poor quality, disappointing for the price.

Good unit could do with a longer cord as the suopled one is a bit short

Indeed, these Jackson 'safety shutters' have terrible reviews for making it really difficult plug things in

Thanks, your comment saved me from the troubles.

Great price for the features, but the reviews are universally bad due to the usb ports not working and the safety shutters making it difficult to plug in anything. I was looking for something like this, but will pass this one.
