Is Apple pay just a checkout option same as PayPal etc?

I assume we can sign up for Apple pay without owning a single apple product?

    • You need Apple device to have Apple Pay as the card needs to be added to Apple wallet.

      • Why are Shopback finding new ways to made it harder to earn cashback? nobody in my family owns an iPhone

        • +7

They’re doing it to you personally

          • +2

@linkindan: Except they are doing it to a substantial chunk of their userbase. It's different to the bank account ones where you can just go and sign up for an account.

Maybe there's partnership to promote Apple Pay and the funding that pays for this bonus cashback comes from the said partner?

      • I had an old card registered to ShopBack that it said was active for the Apple Pay deals. I removed it and added the newer card (which is already active in my Apple wallet) to ShopBack, and the Apple Pay deals are now greyed out with a message saying I need to add an eligible card.

Still waiting for my 10% CB from Apple Pay from the last SB deal 3 days ago. The standard CB tracked overnight, but no Apple Pay CB.

    • Any luck with tracking? Still waiting on a similar deal

      • No luck at all. I lodged a claim over a week ago and haven’t heard back either.

  • Side qn: for these new ApplePay platform, say if I choose to pay with my StG card via Apple Wallet, would that mean I can double dip the cashback? 10% via ApplePay offer + 2% via StG offer? I wonder 🤔

Can use partial payment with gift card and balance on Apple Pay and still get cashback?

So to clarify, to get the 10% CB, is it necessary to use a Westpac/St george card with apple pay, and have that westpac/st george card linked to your Shopback account?

Or is any card with apple pay sufficient? And would I need to link the random card with Shopback?

    • Great questions. Still unanswered. The latest Apple Pay deal suggests that the card must be linked to ShopBack, but I'm not sure where that came from because you have to have a linked card to buy gift cards.

      • Having a closer look at it tonight, the Earn More section shows Apple Pay section and the details of deals in there say that the card must be linked to ShopBack. So the conditions have been tightened up for the current deals.

  • 20% seems to still be going - unclear whether they extended it or if is a glitch

Could be their banner was wrong, it's out of working hours though so a rep probably won't be able to confirm.

Website is 11.59pm and app says 10pm so who knows ¯_(ツ)_/¯

  • Paid $110 with gift cards and $2.29 with Apple Pay via Safari on my Macbook. Thanks OP.

  • I had to use the ebay app to make the purchase with apple pay. It has not yet tracked. Anyone tracked yet?

    • I have had to lodge an enquiry.
