Good keyboard, but in less than a year many of the keys lost the letters.

    • +15

Really? I’ve had mine since 2020, daily driver wfh and still going strong with no issues.

      • Varies I think but seems to be fairly common. Have read posts about it online plus family and I have used these (including mini version) for several years and some are okay whilst others started to wear after about 1-2 years. 3 out of the 5 have worn in some capacity after 3 years or so. Still great keyboards.

Doesn't sound to be great quality then.

      • Same. Must be dirty fingers/hands.

        • -1

          Oils and sweat.

          • +2

@BadGiraffe: Second hand Audi card dealer told me,when I asked why the buttons where fades, it was a ladies car.

The oils in hand lotion dissolves the paint, might be the same with keyboards.

            • @Priester-Aus: This. We replace many laptop keyboards, mainly of women who apply moisturiser to hands regularly, the key markings slowly fade.

        • -1

Based on that logic all my laptops and previous keyboards over the years would have had some wear as well no? No keyboard has ever had this issue in my lifetime except these. Just because you haven't had the issue, it doesn't mean the issue doesn't exist. Either way, still love the keyboards.

      • I hope we are talking about the same product. I bought from this deal for $139.

    • +1

      Warranty that. That's pretty bad

    • +2

Do you have sweaty acid hands or what?

Been going strong on mine for a while now with zero problems.

      • How long’s a while?

      • -1

        2-3 years…

    • +4

      I'm lost for words

    • Been using one for almost 5 years, every day for about 10+ hours with some occasional gaming. Not a single key has lost any letters. I would do a warranty claim if it lost letters within a year. Logitech has been pretty good with warranty for me, replacing a MX Master 2s 1 month out of warranty with a MX Master 3 because 2s was non longer available.

    • +1

Same! I've had mine for about 2 years but I've lost about 6 keys fully and another 3 keys partially. This is a bit dodgy, I've never had a keyboard smudge out it's keys on me in 20 years through wear and tear. This is the only flaw, otherwise, the keyboard is excellent.

    • +1

Probably different batches manufactured in different factories, using slightly different dye. Mine is fine, too (~2.5 years).

Great keyboard, much better than the overpriced Apple ones and better for typing.

    insane on the membrane

    • +2

      Insane in the brain!

Any reason why it says for Mac? Can't you use this for Windows machines?

    • +7

You can. Just a couple of keys are different. No issues otherwise. Same Bluetooth connectivity etc.

    • Yes you can use with windows too. Typing from this keyboard now. Been using it for nearly 2 years I think. Never had any problem. Feel premium and worth every penny.

    • The Mac version doesn't include a bolt receiver, windows version does

      • +1

Yes it does. I received one today and it was included.

        • Ah right I think I was looking at the keys s product page, was it a unifying or bolt receiver?

  • +5

https://amzn.asia/d/9AUF9e1 - Amazon just priced matched it to $129 - (all time low is $119 on camelcamelcamel)

Once you go touch ID, every other keyboard becomes prehistoric. Obviously Apple locks down the tech so you can only get it with Apple Keyboards.

    • I'm selling my MX Keys for this reason, which I'm sad about as it is such a great keyboard, great tactile, backlit, looks great and after 2 years, not a single fingerprint or lost letters (white version).

    • +1

I’d agree if you don’t have an Apple Watch, although the watch can lead to unintentional unlocks

Really hard to go back to an Apple Keyboard after typing on one of these beauties. However, we have an issue with the keyboard forgetting Macs for some reason, which is slightly annoying to have to set up from scratch every now and then.

    • Weird, mine doesn't do that.

  • Good keyboard for anyone using macOS, MS windows. Surprised that some users report lost keys.
Mine is holding up okay. Didn’t use mine daily over the years. So less wear & tear. Dust, grime builds up of course.
If the mx keys comes with a built in Touch ID it’s game over for Apple brand keyboard. Why don’t they incorporate Touch ID ? Licensing issues? Apple won’t let them??
    I recommend this keyboard.

    • +2

Apple would never expose their core security to a 3rd party. Imagine the breach

      • +1

Doesn't seem a good reason, Microsoft seem to have figured out a way with windows Hello. More likely just typical Apple tax exclusivity

    • +1

If the mx keys comes with a built in Touch ID it’s game over for Apple brand keyboard
Why don’t they incorporate Touch ID ?

      You answered your own question.

    This or Keychron V6?
Need something for my Mac for video editing

    • +1

I've never tried one of these, but it would have to be something amazing to make me go back to a membrane keyboard.

    • I have a keychron and one of these. This one is miles ahead for productivity.

If you love the feeling of a mechanical keyboard and loves the idea of owning a mechanical keyboard, get the keychron.

      • +1

This might be a stupid question but how is this more productive? The function keys?

I own mechanical keyboards for my PC but just need something for my new Mac setup…

      • +1

This one is miles ahead for productivity.

        How so?

    • They're very different products with very different capabilities imo

Depends what you're after in a keyboard

If you don't care about all the 'custom' features of the Keychron then just get the MX keys.

  • +2

Would have been great if the MX Mechanical was on sale as well.

  • I got a mx keys s and mx master 3s and do not regret the purchase for a second. great keyboard.

  • I know it is not the same like this one as this is membrane one. I was looking for this one RK ROYAL KLUDGE RK96 https://shorturl.at/urrUv (Amazon link).

My main use is typing only, will not game with it. I type quite a lot everyday, and I prefer silent to low noise keyboard. I touch type, so I do not need to see the keyboard. My speed is like 65 wpm.

Anyone here can share their experience about RK ROYAL KLUDGE RK96 and Logitech MX Mechanical Wireless - Tactile Quiet. https://shorturl.at/S2vxX (Amazon Link)?

    • One thing you have to ask yourself is if you really need a wireless keyboard. I don't want to ever go back to a wired mouse, I find the feeling of the cable dragging distracting now, but I so rarely move my keyboard that I don't see any reason to have it wireless.

  • fwiw, this is the 'older model'. There is a newer "s" version, which has adjustable brightness level for back-lighting and use of bolt connector.
So it's probably a clearance / clearing out old stock.
