Ozito PXC 18V 5.2Ah Cordless Ultra Battery And Charger Pack PXBC-520 $99 Delivered / C&C / in-Store @ Bunnings

510

Great price for a 5.2Ah Ultra battery and 4Ah charger considering the battery alone is $119.

The 4A charger manual states it will charge the 5.2Ah battery in 90 mins. The typical compact fast charger included in most kits takes 120 mins.

The 5.2Ah battery noticeably increased performance of my brushless recip saw and blower.

This is the first time I've seen this pack so I can only guess that it's a seasonal offering.

2x 4ah for same money a better deal?

    • +3

The 5.2ah are high current/high drain batteries. So not really comparing the same thing. These perform a lot better on a variety of different tools.

      • +4

Exactly this. If you don't have many batteries the 2 x 4Ah batteries is appealing. If you have a power hungry 18v tool and want better performance, may want to recharge a bit quicker, then this 5.2Ah pack makes sense.
I had 10 x 4Ah batteries before I took up the 2 x 5.2Ah trade in offer and it's a game changer. It really depends on the tools you have and your needs.

Which tools make the upgrade to 5.2Ah noticeable / worthwhile?

          • @MerlinKlendatu: What are you using them for? I got a 5, 4, 2Ah 18V of various brands, even 2 is fine for around the house stuff like drills. If you are tradie highest you can afford.

Gardening stuff usually needs the power too.

          • @MerlinKlendatu: I'm also interested in this for some of my skins.

I use the 2x18v pole hedge trimmer/chainsaw/line trimmer - much benefit here?

I also use 2x18v blower and the brushless multi tool.

          • @MerlinKlendatu: The 18v brushless mower, drop saw and chainsaw are much better with bigger batteries. All are basically useless with less than 4ah and are much improved with this 5.2ah battery.

    • Way better @ 8Ah, also better being 2 vs 1. You can have a spare charged battery on hand, or using while other is charging.

      • As @AmperSand said above, there are differences other than just the runtime. It may not matter for most tools, but if you have something high-drain (e.g. a cutting tool), you may see 'power' differences. With my mower (admittedly not Ozito), it can cut longer grass when it has the 7.5Ah battery in it than it can with a 5Ah. It surprised me initially (the brand didn't advertise it as high-drain or Ultra etc), but it's a fact.

      yes.
if you need this 5.2ah battery, you should just buy a makita or something.

IMO if you are trying to do serious work that require high current / high drain, then ozito isn't it. ozito is great for diy and non serious applications. fun tools.

i bought makita for more of the serious stuff: grinder, saw, impact wrench, blower, hedge trimmer, lawnmower, etc….
It is definitely worth the investment.

Pretty bad advice. Ozito sell a 400nm impact wrench skin for $190, plus the battery listed here and you're at $290.. the 330nm Makita is $369 just for the skin and they go up from there, sure they have a 700nm one but you're at double the outlay, $500 for the skin of a 1000nm… Plus batteries. These are for people who work on big machines for a living

Ozito can get a lot done and these batteries are actually monsters for the price. Use the money you save on buying quality bits for your tools. Ozito + craftright is a horrible combination, Ozito + Sutton/Diablo though? It gets everything done and it's people who think of Ozito circa 2005 who still talk shit about it. Be sceptical of the non PXC stuff sure, but this is Einhell with an Ozito sticker and sells at double the price in Europe

Without a battery teardown, every comment here is a guess as to what cells they are using and their C rating. All my original Makita ones use either Samsung 25R or Sony VTC4 cells.

Totally agree with you on PXC stuff; I would score it higher than Ryobi.
My workshop consists of 50% Makita, 40% Dewalt (mostly FlexVolt), and 10% PXC. I got rid of all the Ryobi stuff.

I think Dewalt even in 18V (20v) tools are the best in terms of performance, usability, and quality.
Makita seems to last forever, even tools that have been DIY repaired just keep going… but their performance is quite poor, and their designs are outdated.
PXC tools perform well but feel cheap.

My only overlap is 18v orbital sanders and the Dewalt is by far the best, and last Makita. The Makita is slow, heavy, doesn't collect dust well and was the most expensive.

For price-to-performance, PXC wins hands down.

Fun fact: You can use the Makita tracksaw on the Ozito track, which costs one-quarter of the Makita track.

  • What's a "4Ah charger"?

    • Simply put, it charges faster.

      • +3

        I think you meant a 4A charger, not 4Ah.

        • +1

          Correct, cheers

Would only bite at that price for 8ah like the Aldi one: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/870802

  • Is there a battery adapter for aldi -> ozito, i have some aldi ones lying around

  • Any improvements to the 36v wipper snipper?

Not that I have any complaints with it but if it could be better I won’t say no….

  • Keen on a better battery, but this would be the third charger I’d have.. just feels so wasteful.

    • +2

This charger is significantly faster than their black chargers which output either 1.5A or 3A, this has a 4A output

      • Ooh, good to know. I think I have a standard fast charger.

  • $20 for Ozito PXC 18V 2.5Ah Battery and Charger PXBC-25B - Kit.

Is this price normal? Seems cheap..?
