Tesla Gen 3 Wall Charger $720 Delivered @ JET Charge

170

With the price drops of EVs,the benefits of FBT exemption anndd the $3000 novated lease tesla deal, surely a lot of OZBargainers have picked one up. if you dont have a home "fast charger" yet, this might be a good time. Its cheaper than the previous deal by $29 unless I can't count.

Honestly just changed some wording from the previous deal. stumbled across it looking at tesla accessories and checking old and expired links

EDIT: its cheaper at bunnings by $10 and you can stack it with gift cards courtesy to the comments.

This is part of Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals for 2024

  • These guys also have fairly predictable installation pricing that won't leave you guessing… or at a loss.
Some installers quote $1200 for install alone for a single run of 5m or less within the same garage.

Last time I got it for $1500 delivered and installed from JET Charge.

  • Woah that’s over 2k for a charger? Maybe I’ll just stick to the mobile charger

    • this might be worth a look.

im considering the Wallbox since it has solar aware capability, but wifi connectivity issue is a bit off-putting.

I've had an EV for almost a year. I don't have any requirement to move to any faster than 10A charging. You can get a 10A charger off Amazon for $150 these days (it's come down). I have it permanently setup in the garage with a neat wall holster to rack the charging head. I've never needed to charge faster but I do have a type 2 22kW cable in the car that I use occasionally at the free chargers (not really worth it to go out of your way to use) and the super chargers are nearby if I'm ever in a pinch and need to fill it up quick for whatever reason. To recoup the cost on a 7kW 32A charger + install would take a while. The opportunity cost of the money tied up is 30% pa minimum if you're on a Bitcoin standard (i.e a wall charger will never pay for itself).

      • i mean each to their own. im kind of on the fence because of im approaching a year of ownership and besides the occasional supercharging, its free and well integrated in my routine so its more of a nice to have in terms of convenience to charge at home

        • You can still charge at home. I just spent $150 instead of $1k+, and I take this charger with me on road trips to Airbnbs. I don't think the extra speed is necessary. When the car is idle overnight often for min 12 hours that's putting 180km of juice in it, which is probably what I use in an entire week. Having a fast charger makes no noticeable difference in my situation. And that's all it is, just weighing up your individual use taking into account mileage, time between trips, price of energy, i.e do you need to pump in as much as possible between the 11am-2pm free time, etc - maybe a fast charger is for you.

  • Instead of this, can I use 3xAA batteries? I don't drive much…

I can’t help but wonder what if people were offered to install a portable petrol pump at their home for, say, $1500, that could fuel their cars at less than $5 for 100km forever? Would they hesitate to make the investment or see it as a no-brainer? It seems like, with the right incentives and long-term savings, the idea of installing a charger shouldn’t feel so daunting.

Not having to go to the petrol station and getting 'free' charging from my solar are some of my favourite parts of owning an ev

  • if you don't have a tesla ev and do have solar then i'd go with an ocpp charger rather than the tesla one so you can vary your charging rate to match the solar excess
