EDIT: It appears the BFDEAL5 code is glitching - it worked for me earlier today but won't now, reports below of it working for some but not others. It's meant to expire end of 02/12/2024 so not sure what's going on here unfortunately. Code now appears to be working again.

Original Post:

Quite a few hoops to jump through, some of which won't be achievable for everyone, but if you can - ATL? [EDIT: not ATL apparently, but close]

Deal breakdown for the 55":

$3,299 RRP
minus $1,204 for current Black Friday sale [sale price expires 3 Dec]
minus $100 for trading in an existing TV
minus 5% first purchase through the Samsung Shop app discount [may be able to replace with current 5-6% cashback deals, but the cashback sites do warn cashback may not be earned with unlisted promo codes, and BFDEAL5 isn't listed].
minus 5% with BFDEAL5 code [I believe this code expires 2 Dec, but not 100% sure]
minus 10% with Samsung loyalty voucher (request through live-chat, requires you to have an existing Samsung product, will ask for a photo of the serial number)

Stacking all of the above results in $1,615.95 delivered - confirmed, just pulled the trigger on it. The way the discounts codes stack is ( ($3,299 - $800 - $100) * 0.9 * 0.9 ).

You'll also earn 1615 Samsung Rewards points, which are worth ~$16 if you have an opportunity to later redeem them on another Samsung website purchase.

Prices for other sizes - for the following I haven't added to cart to double check (and can't now as I've used the loyalty voucher already), but following the same math as above gets:

65" - $2,180.52
77" - $3,508.92
83" - OOS

This is part of Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals for 2024

    Here we go again

    BFDEAL5 doesn’t work

    • Can't quite explain this one - it worked for me earlier today, but isn't working when I try and apply it again now. Based on comments here it looks like it's working for some and not others. Meant to expire end of today.

    • FYI it’s working again now if you were thinking of buying.

  • ill probably start buying samsung oleds in the future. they thought an item i had was a year out of warranty last week and were ready to pay out the full amount on it. item was in warranty as theyd already paid out the year before as the other one was faulty. if you got some time its a easy way to get the new model every few years hahaha.

    • +8

Two warranty claims in as many years doesn't fill me with confidence in the product. Meanwhile my 20 year old Panasonic plasma is still chugging away (and doubling as a heater in winter)

      • I'm sitting here with my 10 year old LG 60BP6600 plasma and very surprised it's still running. Looking for something bigger (77") and easier on the room temps. Not sure if I want to fork out for an OLED though…. :/ but i do like black blacks.

        • +1

Once you go OLED it's hard to go back (the plasma has been relegated to the bedroom)

      • +1

Yes, the Panasonic, Pioneer and Fujitsu plasma TVs were all Made In Japan to a high quality.
I think my Pioneer plasma had a 5 year warranty.

        • But have you heard about TCL plasmas?!

  • +4

Paid $3419 for the 77" back in June, so definitely not ATL

    • +7

If only the 77" of the S90D was actually QD-OLED and not W-OLED, I would've pulled the trigger. Better of going with an LG OLED C4 instead which can be had for a similar price when on sale for better realiability and build quality as well as DTS and Dolby Vision support

      • +1

I got the LGC4 55" from TGG who price matched appliancecentral including delivery. On top of the price match, the online payment link allows you to stack 2 TGG store cash coupons (worth $40) + I had CBA yellow reimburse $30. Final price including delivery $1800/=.
Note when placing the order tell agent NOT to send through "team global express" - they are the worst (no notification of window in the to expect delivery, customer service not reachable). Usually all other couriers from TGG were great, they even unbox set up and ensure TV works.
Got the TV today and Dolby vision is amazing on the OLED, will never sacrifice it with a TV that doesn't support it like the Samsungs.

    • Fair enough - edited the deal post to reflect.

  • how do you get the loyalty voucher from live chat? I ask them and they never give me any. Through every single deal

    • +2

Me + family members have gotten two in the past 24 hours, so maybe something in the script you're using? Got it first time for me, family member had to try twice. In my case I said I wanted to buy the Samsung product but it was a little out of price range despite current sales, and I'd heard they might be able to offer a 10% off voucher on account of already owning some Samsung products. Got given the voucher straight away from that (after sharing photo of serial number of existing Samsung product).

      • do you have to prompt them first with the serial number/ photo? I never get asked this

        • No, they asked me for the photo once I used the above script.

          • @ironclad: thanks, have copied it into notepad for reference. Appreciate you taking the time to explain this, thank you.

  • +1

Yea, waiting on the LG 77 C4 at circa $3,500 as it was on the 2/7/24 from HN/JB. Help!

    • +1

Try going in store to HN and just telling them straight up you want one for that price.

I went in yesterday for a 65 c4 and said I know exactly what i want and im shopping around and he told me he could do 2500.

Salesperson lottery but worth a shot.

  • +2

Decent deal, I got the 55 last week for $1450 using the codes above plus the 15% apology code from the S90C pricing error deal.

Picture is amazing, but there’s an ARC issue with an old Denon X1400H AVR :(

    • +1

Oh, that crazy S90C deal a few weeks ago was a price error wasn't it?

      • Yes, a lot of people were given 15% + 10% off codes as an apology (and they stacked with the 5% first app purchase & trade-in)

  • 55inch is oos and BFDEAL5 IS NOT WORKING. although it says valid until 2/12/24

    • It's still letting me add a 55 inch to cart.

Can't quite explain what's going on with BFDEAL5 though - it worked for me earlier today, but isn't working when I try and apply it again now. Based on comments here it looks like it's working for some and not others. Meant to expire end of today.

    • FYI it’s working again now if you were thinking of buying.

  • Got it for 1450. Trade in, first time purchase plus the vouchers I got from the cancelled deal. Delivery 9th…

  • +1

    Thanks OP, bought 65 inch

  • How are people getting the BFDEAL5 code to work? No good for me. I’m in the app and signed in.

    • FYI it’s working again now if you were thinking of buying.

  • +9

So after Samsung pulls the bait and switch with the S90C 55" and then claiming it should have been $1799, suddenly the the S90D successor model is being sold cheaper a week later. Samsung truly has no shame.

  • Not gonna spend any penny for Samsung woled :(

    • This is QD OLED. If it ends in WXXY it’s qd oled in Australia:)

      • +4

Yap, only 55in and 65in are qd oled not 77in.
I would like to get something bigger than 75.

Probably have to wait till Boxing Day to see any good deal for neo-qled.

  • BFDEAL5 not working for me either

    • Just tried again, it's working now

      • Was there any order you put the code in?

        • That's the annoying part, it wasn't working before so I pulled the trigger without BFDEAL5.

          • @Kenciah: It only works for me if i don't use a 15% code. If i then it the 15% code in, it removes the bfdeal code

            • @mthucs: Thanks for letting me know, at least I know I am not missing out, lol.

  • BFDEAL5 not working for 65" on web or app. Says expired.

    • +1

FYI it’s working again now if you were thinking of buying.

  • How much is 85 inches?

    • +4

      2.159 metres.

    • -2

Look in my pants and find out

      • +5

        you got long legs mate

      • wasn't that on 2.2 inches ?

  • anyone got a code I can use?

  • Which products qualify for a loyalty voucher? Are there any exceptions (eg accessories)

    • I think as long as you have one of Samsung product

  • Anyone get a screenshot of 55 or 65inch prices? Would love to use for a price protection claim.

  • Anyone has spare code to spare .. :)

  • Good deal for the S90D at this price. I paid about the same in June this year

  • +2.2% if you name your first born Samsung

    • WHAT

  • BFDEAL5 code not working

    • FYI it’s working again now if you were thinking of buying.

  • +2

I'm yet to recover from my trauma that i got into, after missing previous deal

    • lol, same, even though i could possibly get the 90C 55 for $1303 and 90D for $1448 with all the codes, not really looking to pull the trigger

      • Why the hesitation? If i had a code. I'd be grabbing it.

    • This is such a scam, samsung keeps doing this with their smartphones as well, they'll sell their exynos chipsets in the rest of the world while the USA gets the better snapdragons, and guess where most of the tech reviewers are?

    • -1

It's well known the S90D has a panel split in most regions, and that you're only getting the QD-OLED panel with the 55" and 65" models. It's denoted by the product code changes.

The brightness level on the QD-OLED S90D is also well known, and has been repeatedly tested at about 1200 nits peak on a 2% window when using a well-calibrated mode.

      • Your claim suggests that details about panel splits and brightness levels in the S90D series are "well known," but this is not accurate for the average consumer. Without proper due diligence or transparent communication from Samsung, it's unreasonable to expect typical buyers to be aware of these technical specifics. This highlights the importance of discussions like these, as they help educate and inform those who might otherwise remain uninformed.

        • -1

The average consumer can look up a review on the units and see this information. The split between the S90D models was noted at launch and the details were confirmed shortly after. The difference between the upper model and the lower model reflects basic product differentiation, as well as the complexity of the manufacturing.

It's not a lottery, it's a difference between the models. It's also why there's a 42" model in some regions, which is clearly an LG panel.

If you have an issue with how the panel is described on the Samsung website, unfortunately that's something you'll have to take up with the ACCC or another agency. Typically what happens over the life of the product is the peak figures go up as the manufacturing process is scaled and refined, and more of the run-off of the superior models is used.

If it turns out there are longevity issues showing up instead, the firmware will be modified to drop peak brightness a smidge in order to keep the panel in check. This is why if you go to many different TV pages, you'll see a distinct lack of this information; it's not just Samsung OLED models.

          • @jasswolf: While your points are valid, there are a few important nuances that many average consumers may miss:

Looking Up Reviews: Not all consumers are tech-savvy or aware of where to find reliable reviews. Even if they do, reviews might not explicitly mention panel splits or manufacturing complexities unless it's a focus of the reviewer. Most buyers rely on retailer descriptions or marketing materials, which often omit such specifics.

Panel Splits and Lottery: While it’s true that the 55" and 65" S90D models use QD-OLED panels and larger sizes may differ, consumers are not always informed clearly at the point of sale. If someone unknowingly buys a model with a different panel due to vague descriptions, it feels like a “lottery” to them, even if it’s technically part of product differentiation.

Manufacturing Complexity and Performance: Your point about manufacturing improvements over time is interesting, but peak brightness adjustments or longevity issues via firmware are rarely communicated openly to consumers. Instead, these updates can be interpreted as discrepancies between what was promised at launch versus the product’s real-world performance.

Transparency: The lack of clear panel details across manufacturers is a larger industry issue, not exclusive to Samsung. However, this doesn’t excuse the lack of transparency. Ensuring buyers understand what they’re purchasing upfront would eliminate much of the confusion.

While the ACCC or similar agencies might be the route to address misleading descriptions, it's equally critical for manufacturers to proactively provide accurate and detailed information about product differences at the time of purchase.

            • -1

              @ATB: https://letmegooglethat.com/?q=samsung+s90d+peak+nits

The rest of your post ignores the realities of modern manufacturing with cutting-edge technology. The obligation for the TV manufacturers is to hit an appropriate thermal and power spec that ensures the panel lasts a reasonable amount of time, and respects laws regarding power efficiency.

Best you can hope for is that LG lets them label the LG panel models as part of the S85 line-up in all regions, but currently they don't.

Just got it down to $1956 for the 65' S90D, Applied the 5% app discount, $100 trade in, 15% off code from Samsung chat and a 10% off for cancelling the infamous S90C "PRICE ERROR" not sure if I should pull the plug tbh.

    • What's the hesitation? I'm dying to try and get one of those cancellation codes and would pull the trigger myself.

    • With your all above voucher, can you stack BFDEAL5 code again? that would bring down another 5%.

    • Any tricks to get the s90c price error code to stack? I got one of them but it won’t allow me to stack with the already applied 10% off code

  • C4 is better than samsung at all sizes?

    • Qd-oleds are better so only @77+ inches then

  • +1

The 5% off BFDEAL5 code is now working for me, even though it didnt work when i tried earlier.

Just purchased the 65 inch for $2180.

    • For me it works if I put it in before the 15% code but then gets replaced by it. Did you do it in any particular order to get them to stack?

      • +1

I didn’t use a 15% off code. I used 10% loyalty, and the other discounts mentioned by the OP.

        • Ah ok. Thanks

  • +1

    Thanks OP!
    Just grabbed the 65" - $2,180.52
Got on live chat, had a chat with them, sent a pic of my Samsung fridge serial number, received a 10% discount code.
Used with BFDEAL5 and also the 5% discount code for first purchase in the App.

    • Pleasure! Glad it worked out well for you.

  • +3

Well done ironclad on posting a great deal and providing solid in-comment support.

    • +1

      Thanks :)

  • 65" sold out now.

    • +2

Keep an eye on it if you’re interested in buying - 55” apparently went OOS for a while earlier but then came back.

    • Damnnnn. I had it in cart but was waiting on codes.

  • +1

Damn that's a good deal on the 55". I got it for $1643 last week via Bing Lee eBay.

  • +2

Got 65” for $1,956.42 with 15% Samsung loyalty customer discount, 10% discount chatting with Samsung rep, 5% app first purchase and $100 trade in.

Got Q930D soundbar for $653.36 with the same discount setup.

    • Was the 15% from the q90c price error, or something you negotiated with support?

      • For me it was customer retention because I'm a big bitch who likes to raise a fuss over poor service

      • No. Samsung rep called me and said as you are a valuable customer, they would like to provide discount on Samsung products.

    • Did same for 77"
Gonna wait for a better deal on a Bar, I'm sure I won't notice until then

      good hustle

      • But it will be only woled no?

  • Any other codes besides BFDEAL5?
    Missed out yesterday

  • FYI ANC (Samsung's delivery partner) gave me a 6 week delivery time to Adelaide for a S95D due to the holiday period, puchased yesterday. This is despite it being in stock and selecting a time next week during check out.

    • Ugh, seriously? Did you reach out to them or did they reach out to you? I’ve not heard anything since ordering mine yesterday morning.

      • +1

I received a text the following morning saying the selected date was not available and to select another. Samsung originally offered 3 or 4 dates in Dec and ANC offered none of those. Reached out to them both and ANC could not deliver any quicker and Samsung "did not have a procedure" to deliver with another carrier. ANC said the systems were not linked so the samsung date is effectively a stab in the dark.
