I use powerpal for this. Getting it to work with homeassistant was very hard, this looks like the pay-to-win option

if you could share how did you integrate with HA? I guess you used esp32 for Bluetooth proxy but how did you get api from powerpal?

      • It was very hard. You are right, I used an esp32 with Bluetooth and poll the powerpal for data. That gets pushed. I'll find my config for you

        • please and thanks.

        • Thank you so much!

So curious what you using the shellypro for?

Also did you install it into switchboard yourself?

actually, not really - this 3 Phase can be used for 3 seperate 1 phase circuits….
i.e. Solar production, Grid consumption and 'one other' (could be house consumption and grid, then math in home assistant to show self consumption vs grid)

Shelly Pro EM-50 is a single-phase, two-channel energy meter. It includes 2x 50A CT clamps.

Shelly Pro 3EM is a three-phase, three channel energy meter. It includes 3x 120A CT clamps.
This can also be setup to monitor three individual circuits on a single-phase power board.
^^This is is my use case.

    • Does this have RCM tick?

      • The ones sold in Australia do.
I expect this is applied per model so may be applicable

      • the german one, no, i have one in my spares box due to a miss buy last year

Does this have a RCM mark to demonstrate it is compliant with Australian regulations?

Personally I wouldn’t purchase something from Germany and install it in a meter box in Australia, it’s just asking for trouble.

Also nowhere on the description does it mention it is for 3-phase only.

    • Yeah, the other day, this was being asked on the HA AU/NZ facebook group that is it alright to import this product (or any shelly) from other countries. There was mixed answers, but mostly vaguely said no don't. Personally I think it's identical to the one you could buy locally. But need someone to actually confirm it has the tick logo…

  • Looking for something similar to control my hot water but single phase with an RCM tick. The dumb timer is no good due to low FIT and unpredictable rains.

    • you'd need to also order a contactor of a suitable rating to be driven from the 'dry contact' outputs of the SHelly device

i have for example a 4.8kW hot water sysem (20A)…
i'd need at least a 30A capable contactor which is de-rated for our Auzzie hot weather

So, This device + contactor + sparky to fit, perfect

don't forget also if you have a Controlled load plan, you can't switch your own hot water out of the circuit
if you want controlled load AND solar…….you need a tank with a fancy two element system, OR use a solar diverter / solar aware relay system that lets controlled load take over

      • Thanks for the headsup about the rating, didn't think of that but will keep that in mind.

I did have the hot water on controlled load but after installing solar, I got a separate sparkie come in to rewire the hot water cirtuit to the mains and install a dumb timer alongside the breaker for a few hunderd dollars. The CL line/meter now sits there not disconnected but I still pay for its supply charge ~12c a day or sth like that. I have read its costly to have the CL meter removed by energex. Now I wanna replace the dumb timer with something with WiFi that supports home assistant (catch power doesn't support HA yet)

        • there's solar diverters - Paladin, Solardiverter and catch, a little more expensive, but send EVERY watt to the hot water. the issue with standard relays is they're programmed to only send extra excess solar to the hot water…..i.e. 2.4kw, THEN you'll heat hot water…every kW before then gets dumped to grid!

          • @bleugh: would that also need a special water heater tank to support EVERY watt? The one I currently have seems to be about 15Amps but I am not sure if I can run it any lower with those devices, this is very exciting.

            • @MKBHD: not really, most are resistive element. YOu just gotta watch with old ones as they may not like it much

  • I see Shelly relays and this Power Monitor.
Is there anything from Shelly that does both Power Monitoring and Power Control Relay?

    • yes

    • Shelly PRO 4PM Relay Switch is ONE example of the multiple products in the Shelly range

      • thanks, will check it out

        • it's by far the best value one….I had 4 of them in my basket last year to buy,
BUT, only rated to 40 Degrees…
so, not suitable for use in my outside distribution box :-( and too expensive to move the box, so….no central power control for me! (I use an IotaWatt for monitoring though)
