What Did You Buy During Black Friday/Cyber Monday 2024?

What did you buy during Black Friday up to Cyber Monday in 2024?

  • I bought some goods from Temu with Credit back rewards trick + cashback that may result in Profit. I used the Temu credit back rewards trick to get Temu credit $50 from my purchase of $70.89. Cashback from Topcashback is $27.73 (pending). I am claiming the temu credit every day for 7 days as required to get the temu credit $50 to use for next purchase. So, $50 credit back later + $27.73 cashback later = $77.73 from my purchase of $70.89. Profit 😄 ? If I get this cashback without problem, that means I get paid for shopping :P

  • I bought Surfshark VPN with 100% cashback through Topcashback. I have NordVPN and PureVPN already with cashback too.

  • Then I bought another PureVPN 140% cashback through Topcashback US with a different account (purely for profit cashback). Hopefully no problem and the cashback could be withdrawed successfully later.

What did you buy during Black Friday up to Cyber Monday?

This is part of Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals for 2024

    Cyber Monday

What cyber Monday? Such lack luster deals today ,you'd think it was just a normal Monday on ozb

    • +5

Yup just a normal day, underwhelming to say the least. Zzzz.

Where are all the gpu, cpu, ssd or insert here pc part deals?

      Bought absolutely nothing today.

  • +5

No hard drives being the only thing I was looking for
    .

  • Nada.

There were two good deals on high-end gaming monitors posted here on the days leading up to B.F, but I'm praying CES in Jan provides better for cheaper.

Though I did get two Humble Bundle game bundles today, at least one was marketed as a Disney Black Friday deal.

  • +1

Samsung 85” QN90D for about 3300-ish from corporate partner store (I think it’s the same as their gov/edu store potentially?) Ended up being about 48% off “rrp” with first purchase plus BF discount.

Sonos Ray for about 170 from TGG with some store credit to burn stacked on an in store only coupon.

  • Im still waiting for my pre black friday purchase of Ubiquiti gear from Wireless 1 to ship…

  • I bought the Acer Swift laptop and stocked up on Iron tablets from Chemist Warehouse.

  • Liberty 4 NC earphones $90 (after TCB 20%) (to replace a stolen set)

Tridbit Stormbox 2 Micro portable speaker ($45 after TCB 20%)

Both above are the cheapest possible

  • Some AliExpress items on 11.11 and some basic minor personal care items from Amazon close to Black Friday. Nothing like last year. Honestly, this year Black Friday promos were quite $hitty.

  • +2

Also nothing. The only really good black friday deal was that $200 phone. Everything else you could have gotten any other day during the year. These so called 50% off an inflated MSRP don't count as deals. It needs to be 20-50% off the previously, lowest price. If not, don't list it on black friday or Cyber Monday.

  • Well I did shop at Temu with the 45% cashback - but guess what it never tracked. Quite a few people had the same issue. Lucky for you to have tracked successfully.

    • I guess you used desktop or apple devices for the cashback? I only use chrome mobile browser in my android phone for most cashback transactions. How long did you spend time until purchase? Maybe if the duration is too long, it may affect tracking 🤷 I am not sure.

I keep tabs open for the goods I am buying, empty the cart, login Paypal in a separate tab if paying with Paypal, then login Topcashback in a separate tab and start shopping. I just copy paste the tabs of the goods I am buying into the tab of Temu page and put them into the cart, then pay. Or if using Temu "claimcredit", I pick them up from the "claimcredit" page. The trick is to put them into the cart, then later remove them from the cart. Usually the goods will appear in the "claimcredit" page to be picked to claim credit back later after purchase. After that paying with Paypal or Google Pay for me.

Then go back to Topcashback tab in the browser to save screenshot of the Topcashback page that says "we've recorded your visit" just in case failed tracking. In the screenshot of my phone, the time is at the top. Also save screenshot of the Temu confirmation email as there's the time shown and Temu order confirmation number in the email too.

These are useful for missing cashback claim, I think as we can send PM to Topcashback rep too after claiming missing cashback in Topcashback page/app.

  • Nothing. Cashrewards is geo-blocked in Spain and I did too much travelling at the weekend to cope with the time difference and work out when the offers were live.

    • +1

I wonder if certain VPNs work to access Cashrewards there. This is one of the purpose of VPN …

No geoblocking from Topcashback US for example.

I am jealous with your travel 😄 Have fun with your travel there.

      • Perhaps I am not a true Ozbargainer as I have never bothered with a VPN. Better hand in my badge!

        • You can still buy VPN now ;-)
          100% cashback NordVPN through Topcashback
          100% cashback Surfshark through Cashrewards

      • +1

Too much hassle for saving pennies. Cashrewards was also blocked in the country i'm visiting and I didn't bother too. SB was apparently working though.

  • +1

Bought 2x Optus $320 365 days sim. It was on sale from Optus for $220 + Additional cashback of $100 from Cashrewards. So effectively paying $120 for the whole year. It comes with 280GB data (~23GB per month) + 800mins overseas call

    • I bought the same, $120 paid few months ago for my friend :)

  • I only ended up getting a Logitech G PRO X Superlight 2.

  • I bought 9kg of gas from bunnings via swap. No sale or anything.

Jokes bought a bunch of tools from totaltools :D

  • didn't buy anything apart from this: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/882172

would have bought more but didn't see too much that I needed

  • Missed out on the single good deal I saw. :(

  • +1

Bought a couple of lifetime subs to NZB indexers.

  • The sales were meh this year. But I did snag a Dyson Gen5Detect Complete for $695 after cashback.

    • -2

The price is expensive … So, it's a want, not a need.

Much cheaper is this for $327 sold by Dyson too through Catch, others are $337 at JB HiFi, The Good Guys, Harvey Norman, Kogan:
      https://m.catch.com.au/product/dyson-v7tm-advanced-origin-st…

      https://www.bigw.com.au/product/dyson-v7-advanced-origin-sti…
      $599 at Big W lol.

      • I never said it was a want.

Also Gen5Detect is a different model to V7.
        https://www.rtings.com/vacuum/tools/compare/dyson-v7-vs-dyso…

      • And a 12v ride on toy car is cheaper than a real car……. full size car price is expensive, just save money and buy 12v ride on toy car. Comparing two different products and pointing out at that one is cheaper and therefore the better purchase….. seriously.

And on that note, why would you suggest the v7 it is also a want and expensive, you can clean the floor with this, much cheaper. https://www.kmart.com.au/product/dustpan-set-aqua-41488669/

What is the point of your comment, especially since the person has already bought the item….

        • -2

          You compare apple to oranges.
I compare apple to apple and especially it's the cheapest from the same brand. I don't see much difference. If it's a robo vacuum that can clean by itself, it's better.

          • @neoleo: You totally compared apples and oranges lol

            • @buckster: I compared Dyson V7 over Dyson Gen5Detect. Not much difference in my opinion. So, it's apple to apple (vacuum vs vacuum from the same brand too).

              • @neoleo: Do you also compare iPhone 15s to iPhone 8s and tell people they got ripped off?

                • -1

@buckster: Nope, different generations. Unless you mentioned iPhone 15, Pro or Pro Max. But honestly most people buy iPhone because of conformity. When people see friends, neighbors, work colleagues use iPhone, they may get jealous or just want the same brand. Most people don't really need more than $1,000 phone honestly based on their use case that mostly for social media, watch videos, take casual photos etc. So mostly light use case anyway. This is also the reason I bought under $500 phone. I am Asian. I know that so many asians especially younger people want the latest flagship phones like iPhone or Samsung for example. I can buy the latest flagship but it's a want not a need. I don't want Samsung with slow charging. That's why I bought OnePlus phone with much faster charging 67 watts and still good for me. Previously I used Realme phone with faster charging too. Fyi, my phone has 1,600 charging cycle, while most phones only have 800 cycles.

        • I'm sensing some Dyson envy. Or maybe @neoleo paid too much for his one.

          • @tenpercent: There's a robot vacuum at home, but I am not the one who paid it, lol.

  • I always get a vistaprint wall calendar for the family with photos of things we did during the year, I also got an offset yoyo on sale for xmas present.

  • +3

    Sales were pathetic. Bought nothing.

  • I bought Doge, Ripple and Cardano.

    • If you have bought like 1 or 2 months ago, you are in big profit now 🤑

  • eSIMs, discounts weren’t great but left it too late.

  • +1

Hot toys Green Goblin - Hot Toys Miles Morales - Hot Toys Ladypool - Hot Toys Deadpool

    :)

  • A single pair of AS Colour track pants.

  • Too bad for you that credit adjustment will affect your cashback

    • Cashback only count for the amount not covered by temu credit if people also have and use Temu credit. I never do price adjustment. I got Temu credit from searching "claimcredit" or "credit back rewards" previously in Temu search bar or through Promotions in the Temu Message.

If you have a list of many more goods that you need/want to buy like hundreds $, combining temu claim credit + cashback could be better value for you if temu offer you big credit back like I got previously from $70 purchase, I got $50 temu credit.

      • Didn’t know about ‘claim credit’ - thanks for the tip

        • claimcredit without space

  • $29 airfryer from spotlight its ok..

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/882493

  • Spotlight beach cart ~$50

  • Cancelled my Telstra and got with Vodafone. But that was more because my contract ended in November.

Got a Roborock Q Revo Master

That's about it. There weren't any good sales. I bought other stuff but it was just RRP.

  • 3D printer, Bambu Lab A1 combo and 12kg filaments!

  • Nothing, except that I switched savings accounts from suncorp to mq bank

  • A bunch of Adidas. But some will be return due to fitting.

  • Stuff that I bought mostly Aliexpress and was on Cashback via Topcashback.

    • The last few months, I bought mostly from Temu with cashback too. Last time I bought another watch from AliExpress with small cashback too.

  • Ipad Air 11 M2 128GB
    Price $999
Effective 10% off Apple gift cards from Coles ($100)
    8% cashback from Shopback ($73)
Received $120 worth of apple gift card

Costed me around $706 that is less than discounted IPad10 256GB

  • Parts for a computer overhaul (not quite full rebuild). Case, additional SSD (will keep old drives too), motherboard, CPU, and cooler. Going to stay on my old DDR4 RAM (and consequently an old platform) because I'm too cheap to go DDR5 and will probably just sit on this configuration until it breaks.

    • Performance difference between DDR4 and DDR5 is not that much (I read the news), so it's okay to stick with DDR4.

      • Moreso that any further upgrade will necessitate again replacing motherboard, CPU, and RAM (unless it's just the GPU, but there's no point due to performance matching the CPU I'm getting)

  • Surprised nobody bought condoms at Chemist Warehouse 10% off plus 8% Westpac.

A $1 invested returns more than Nvidia shares

  • New pc from techfast
    Guitar pedals from Chase bliss
    Ikea bed textiles

  • omg too much really and probably the most I've spent for awhile (hopefully)
    blunt tempus
    skincare from the ordinary
    bellroy wallet
    car accessories
    amazon gc

I think total damage is about ~2-3k?

    • Crazy rich asian along with Fat horny ghost :P I wish I am included …

  • Lots and lots of board games but really looking forward to trying out the Kanto YU4s.

  • Grabbed a UK and US Audible memberships (using my AU login) 3 months ie 3 books for $2 (AUD) each month plus $20 credit which I used on their sale books.

Extremely easy to logout of my AU account and login to UK or US for the 10 books I got for $12, instantly cancelled the memberships of course so don't forget in 3 months time.

  • Bambu Lab p1s combo
    Gundam kits

  • Merged from What Did You Guys and Gals Get during Black Friday - with NO Regrets?

Was there anything that was 80% off?

From your experiences were Boxing day sales better? cheers

    • The $99 Pizza Oven - it's actually pretty decent and happy with it. Even though well aware the RRP is BS.

That's pretty much it this year I think. Nothing else seemed worthwhile. Amazon was a dud yet again this year, nothing special and pretty much normal sale prices.

      • Looks way cooler than my $29 Pizza oven from Australia Post, rarely eat pizza, getting gluten intolerance, makes me sleepy

    • +12

      Scrolling fatigue.

    • +2

Kindle. Solid price for a just released device, with the added bonus of 10% off at big w.

I'm guessing it'll be the same price for black friday, but I'm happy with it.

      • i got the scribe 16gb 2022 version for $347, which they're clearing out for the newly released 2024 model which is not a meaningful upgrade. I wil use it and then send it back for change of mind unless I fall in love, i have tablets for reading already.

    • +1

      Lucky

    • The FOMO was fun, bought a few items tho it wasn't a big discount but good saving regardless, otherwise I wouldn't purchase em at RRP.

    • Fear of yet another pointless BF post

    • +5

Meta Quest 3. Technically, it wasn't on sale (as I hoped it would be), but I instead I used that 10% off Amazon gift card.

It's my first VR headset and I've been using it every day so far, having a blast.

    • +2

Samsung washing machine for about $680 ($1199), the old one just just shat itself week before BF.

Also got refurbished (what ever that means) Microsoft Surface Dock for about $80 from Amazon. Now I got 3 screens powered by one laptop. Could add 4th but I'm out of table space :P

Almost got the Galaxy Watch Ultra for $639 with $60 trade in and $200 voucher included but backed out. Now I have the voucher and my card will be charged next week. Let's see if I get it on the Boxing Day if the price comes down again. Any reasons why I should get it? I'm an OG watch guy and have tried 3 times past 10 years to switch to a smartwatch and failed :D

      • +1

Any reasons why I should get it? I'm an OG watch guy and have tried 3 times past 10 years to switch to a smartwatch and failed :D

With a Samsung smartwatch, you have to recharge it every day. Do you like it or want to do that? Otherwise buy Garmin smartwatch like Forerunner 165, or Amazfit Balance, or Huawei smartwatch. If you need/want to use smartwatch for payment with NFC, choose Garmin (available in other brands too). Garmin, Huawei, and Amazfit for example have longer battery life like 1-2 weeks or even longer on certain Garmin.

Do you have a Samsung phone? You need a Samsung phone if you want to use ECG feature in Samsung smartwatch (same with Apple watches). ECG and other related features are useful as quite a lot of people in the world have heart problem. Other brands also have this ECG feature. If you have an iphone, Apple watch is the best in term of heart rate accuracy, sleep tracking, and have other useful features too. But apple watches have short battery life too as people need to recharge it every day.

Having a smartwatch is useful for health tracking, as fitness tracker, etc. A smartwatch will encourage you to be active, not sitting and sleeping all day :P

People are getting older … So, having smartwatch is useful too. True stories: when people got car accident or fall off the cliff and the phone is quite far from hand to get it, they used their smartwatch to call emergency number. Certain smartwatches have fall detection like Apple watches that can call emergency number (maybe check other brands too). Also car crash detection like in Pixel watches. Certain type of smartwatches have blood pressure feature like Huawei watch D2. For blood sugar measurement, I am not sure if there's any that is accurate enough.

Watch YouTube "the quantified scientist" to see comparison of so many smartwatches in term of heart rate accuracy for walking, running, weightlifting, and sleep tracking.

I have some watches too and Huawei GT-Runner as a smartwatch :)

        • with the amount of young sports people who drop on fields i almost think ecg should be a mandatory test growing up. could save a lot of people or atleast let them know

          • +1

@BuDWiZe: Yes, I agree. Cardiac arrest (different than normal heart attack) could happen to younger people too, not just old people.

    • +1

Pixel Watch 2 as my first smart watch. I've really liked it so far.

    • +3

      Happy with my bambu a1

    • +1

Got lots of stuff over BF. The Fit Bit Ace 2 seems great so far. We just got it yesterday but we can see how our toddler sleeps at night. A bit restless and woke up a few times but overall it looks like he slept pretty well.

    • +1

No raegrats for any purchases. Smart doorbell is great for watching the other packages show up.

    • +1

I got paid to buy a PS5. Best deal ever.

      • I'm sure Phillis is missing her air fryer.

    • +2

My favourite bubbles went to 40% off. Was great to stock up.

    • +2

      Nothing

    • Was there anything that was 80% off?

      • One of my Temu purchase was $0.01 from normal price $8.77. It's a man's pant that I like.

      • I bought Surfshark VPN with 100% cashback through Topcashback.

    • A new stove for the kitchen. One hot-plate stopped working during covid, and other failed about a month ago. It was good timing for a new shiny.

    • Bambu X1C with 2x AMS. Its great to just hit print and get a result. It was worth the upgrade.
