I don't know who the Mirako Store is and if it's reliable, but for anyone that's interested in a review, this was great from Joshua Valour around a week ago:

Thanks, found some good info there. Btw I’d check out the comment section as well. It seems many were concerned or complained about QC of HifiMan.

You're better off having the hifiman from a reputable seller. You need the warranty for peace of mind. I have not got any problems from mine but you never know. I had the sundara and the Ananda

    • Josh is a good reviewer but I find I disagree with much of his reviews (e.g. the Focal Utopias). Just thought to share and remind people to branch out and watch many reviews from different sources because audio is a very subjective hobby and all our ears and tastes differ.

      • +2

I agree with you here, always important to branch and listen to different POV's. But I don't think he is wrong in regard to this review, really there is no competition with the Edition XS below $500, definitely not in Australian stores.

Whilst I haven't bought anything over a grand, I am glad I didn't jump on the Arya after I got the XS.
People who likes 'a lot' of bass can look elsewhere. But for balance I absolutely agree. The bass is there but no so much to cloud the rest. That said, I would rather buy locally for peace of mind even paying $100 more. My first order has to be returned. Lucky I got them from Amazon.

    Thank you OP, grabbed one!

these have great sound, but buy a $10 headband cover if you want to keep them around for a while

    • Sorry for my ignorance, whar headband cover are you referring to, and why is it necessary? Thanks

      • hifiman have a reputation for poor build quality and the pleather on the headband/earpads will start to flake off after a few years.

        • Ah ok. Are those headband covers the fabric button type that you see on aliexpress or amazon? Thanks

          • @Redsin: i use that one, but go with whatever's comfortable for you

  • If I got the HE1000, would I need to pay any import tax? Never used Aliexpress before so I'm a tad skeptical.

    • +2

Tax is included on everything purchased from aliexpress shipping to aus, but is only shown at checkout.

    • Make sure you're looking at least at the HE1000 Stealth!

  • +2

Great deal! Bought them for $500 and well worth it.

  • is this worth purchasing if i already have the sundara?

    • +2

If you can sell the Sundara, sure. If you want to keep both? Not really. Or maybe you can try this and sell it if you don't think it is a worthy upgrade for yourself.

Tonally it's mostly better, technically it's a fair bit better.

But you've now got the Ananda Nano, Arya Stealth and Arya Organic all at sane price points in this sale. If you have the desktop gear for any of those, they might be worth reaching for instead.

Just be mindful of which deals are accessible for cashback (still at 12% uncapped on two platforms), and which aren't, as well as eligible codes (based on price ex-GST & delivery) and the PayPal in 4 deal (very minor discount in theory).

        mmm.. lots to consider now.

        thank you!

If you bought your Sundara before 2020, you most likely got the older version of it and according to reviewers, it doesn’t sound as nice compare to the newer Sundara. That being said, many people still prefer Sundara over the edition xs. The main issue might be that Edition XS has bigger ear pads so depending on the size and shape of one’s head, some will get tighter fit than others, so sound will vary for different people. But edition xs excels also partly due to the bigger and taller earpad, because it provides a bigger soundstage. Most people notice immediately that edition xs has deeper bass, slightly less controlled mid range when compared to Sundara. Hope this helps. For me, I love Edition XS and totally agree with Josh’s review.

Really good price for these. I don't know about the seller. I love them and personally think they are a big step up from the sundara.

  • Anyone got their order shipped yet?

    • Mine shows as being picked up by the delivery company yesterday.

      • Thanks, good to see some movement. I cancelled it last night as there was no movement, reordered with another seller and then cancelled again this morning. Changed my mind and ordered Aune AR5000 instead this morning. It has been dispatched by seller, very impressive. I think AR5000 will fit my needs better.

  • Considering these are open-back, are they suitable for office use (assuming resonable listening levels? Also which microphone cable would be suitable? And does it benefit from an AMP?
