I've had my A900x for probably 10 years and love them . I've replaced the foam covers twice .
Would these be a worthy upgrade / sidegrade ? or should I just buy another set of ear pads ?

I’m not an expert but isn’t AD900X one tier up from AD700X?

      I think buy pads.

      • A900x is closed back whereas the AD900x is open. I can't say anything about the differences between the two, but I have owned the AD900x for a few years, upgrading from the 700s.

        • Correct A900X are closed back , I bought them so I could listen to them in bed but they do leak quite a bit of sound , ended up with in ears for bed .

    • If you want an upgrade, get the hifiman xs for 350 or so on AliExpress.

  • Good price for a good quality headphone but these are limited use. I had these many years ago for a brief amount of time, it's the only pair of headphones I've ever old.
Excellent highs, great mids, very airy and wide, however the low end is non-existent. I'd only recommend these for vocals, podcasts, audio books and some types of music that would match.

Also, if you have a smaller head, there's a good chance these will slide down due to the split headband. There's some mods you can do, the easiest one being an elastic band, but best to try on first if you can.

  • Not an audiophile but I've had these for 10 years and they've been solid but not without flaws. First is that even with a larger head, these do slide down so used some clothing elastic on the wings to tighten things up. The cable was also overly long and eventually carked it so I did the removable cable mod.

  • I bought these for FPS gaming many years ago. Returned them within the week, not my cup of tea (they pretty much have no bass and with the wide soundstage people's footsteps that were very close to me sounded very far)
