Decent price if I had the need Iā€™d snap em up.

But does the subscription ruin the deal? My Arlo Pro 2 support ends in January 2025, and the free 7-day video backup may also be discontinued.

Haven't tried others but Google's default free 3h event playback seems enough for me. Sends notifications and has the option to save the clip to file

        • +1

          It's enough for us too

      • +3

Yes subscription ruins the deal, the 3h free footage isn't enough for most people.

        • +1

Yes., especially if event happens at night or when overseas planning to get Eufy

          • +2

@georgev: Yep, I ended up selling my Nest cameras for that very reason.

Edit: I got Reolink system now, haven't install them yet.

            • @batrarobin: Eufy or Reolink? Looking into getting batteries ones

              • @vision1600: Reolink, transitioning to the wired system.

                • +1

@batrarobin: Moat of their cameras seem to be wireless and with battery (except PEO ones). Trackmix is the only one I found that is wired and without battery.

I prwfer wired ones as they offer continuous recording.

        • +1

I have the subscription and three cameras + two doorbells.

Regret not because of anything else other than their glitchy performance, want to move away from them to hardwired its just they are much harder to setup

      • The value of the subscription depends on how many cameras you have. We have over a dozen cameras so $240/year for unlimited cameras works out to be less than $20/year per camera, or about $1.50 a month.

There's also a subscription that only keeps events without 24/7 recordings which is half the cost at $120/yr for unlimited cameras, which would better suit these cameras unless you keep them wired or have other wired cameras.

Might want to add the link for stock availability to your post:

    https://bunnings.youinstock.com.au/search/0397850

    • Thank you. Done

  • Half price basically. Good price if you can get hands on it. It's several years old now, there has to be a new model soon

  • Is Google going down the tubes or is it just their older home speakers? Mine seems to get worse and worse each day. Maybe making them shit so they can get me to move to something else.
If they can't do the speakers right I don't trust them to do the cameras šŸ™ƒ
Thanks op for the post still though.

Googles consumer electronics do not last, they dont make them "enough" money so stop supporting them properly ~ google home products are just disappointing now.

I regret kitting my house out with them.

      • I feel like it is not the support. They worked well, now but not so good. I feel like they are purposely updating the software to make them shit. Speakers themselves sounding perfectly.

Nest hub functionality has gone backwards. They have removed features and dummed the assistant down.

Think this is in preparation for an ai assistant subscription model.

          • @Mrdealz: Gemini is coming to nest speakers? Free?

          • +3

@Mrdealz: I dropped about $1k on Nest Protect smoke detectors because the "Works with Nest" allowed it to integrate with SmartThings to perform life saving automations in the event of a fire. Got them installed and Google announced they were killing "Works with Nest" and walling themselves off from outside platforms, thus negating the one selling point that got me to buy.

They stung me hard many years before that by killing off a service i invested in, twice in 2 transactions is enough. So i would never give Google another cent of my money. Jeff can buy a bigger yacht instead.

      • What security system do you recommend? Looking for battery ones like these that are well priced

        • I suggest using wired ones (without battery with/without wifi) if you want continuous recording. Battery ones will provide event based recording. Use a hub if camera could be vandalised, otherwise local storage on camera is fine. Reolink is a good cheap option for battery ones with hub and TP Link Tapo for storage on camera. Eufy is expensive and performs well.

        • Reolink followed by eufy

        • I have Reolink PoE with NVR.
Highly recommend. Works and no subscriptions

      It's not just you.

Used to love our Google devices - were really useful.

It's not that they've stopped getting better or improving, they are gradually getting worse and worse. I find myself speaking to the devices like I'm trying to communicate with someone that speaks broken English and even then it doesn't work 1/2 the time.

Or I'll give it a command and it will say it doesn't understand and then my wife says exactly the same words and hey now it works.

I'm pretty disappointed as we've invested quite a bit (financially) to end up with this substandard system.

  • Prices are wacky, going from $15 to $437

  • Can we price beat at Officeworks?

  • Why is it showing $200 in store only?

Although Artarmon shows 8 in stock, but the floor staff could not find any in store. Info for anyone is planning to visit the Artarmon store.

  • In stock at Indooroopilly in the Smart Home cage inbetween the checkout and the paint desk. Listed online and ticketed in store as $337.68.

Two or three units left in stock right now.

    Do your research.

Googles entire ecosystem doesnt work well or at all without internet. The cameras are not an exception. Some people have reported these cameras go offline, even when their internet seems okay.

Last I checked, theres no SD cards in these cameras so if you plan on recording, you need to upload to the cloud.

For me, this sort of dependency is a huge problem, especially for cameras.

Cheers OP got a set in Blacktown.

One set left. Top shelf left hand side beside the little section where they cut keys.

    Using 2 X two packs as a 4 pack.

The 4-pack was bundled as two 2-packs taped together, so my local store accidentally put it through as a single two-pack when they scanned the incorrect barcode, giving me the 4-pack at $216

    • Thats a real bargain
