Original Coupon Deal

I'm looking for a replacement to the Lenovo Tab M10 I bought for $100 at Aldi early last year. I use it mostly at night to watch movies/series, and have been mildly annoyed by its screen backlight, so am inclined to get one with an AMOLED screen instead. I'd prefer one with a headphone jack, which this one lacks, but… it's an option.

Mod note: the description of the tablet, including its specifications, processor / SOC was copied from elsewhere and might have been inaccurate (e.g Snapdragon v Mediatek SOC) and has been removed. Please refer to the specification provided by the seller for more accurate info.

Impressive specs for price, anyone can comment on their experience with this?

Yeah looks decent. I love my older P11 Pro with OLED screen. Not sure if this comes with an official global rom or not. I flashed mine using the Lenovo tool and it gets OTA updates every now and then. Also I don't see AMOLED mentioned anywhere on aliexpress. The matte screen sounds interesting

For media consumption, I like the Yoga Tab Plus for the stand and sound quality.

    • By sound quality, do you mean the 8 JBL speakers? That would be lost on me; I hardly ever watch anything without earphones.

Do you use it in the dark? Doesn't the LCD backlight bleed in?

  • +3

Dunno if this is the Matte version as it says standard and the reviews mention bundle names with Matte in them. Then the bundle says global ROM too.

    • The description says "paper screen"; isn't that what it means?

      • +1

It's the Bundle that you want to look at as that's what you're buying.

        Bundle: Standard
        Color: Global Rom Green

        Compared to the reviews:

        Bundle:8G 128G Standard
        Color: Global Rom Matte

        • Good pickup - thanks Clear

  • The specs in the listing do not match your description at all, aliexpress shows a dimensity 7050 as well as no mention of an OLED screen.
Also I cannot find any tablet on gsmarena or lenovo's website by the name of 'Lenovo Tab P12 Plus'

I figured it out based on this listing. It's the Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad Plus that's been flashed with the ROM of the Lenovo Tab P12 (not P12 Pro).

Normally I'd be inclined to say fake dodgy Global ROM, however in this case the Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad Plus 2025 and Lenovo Tab P12 both share the same hardware, specifically the same MediaTek Dimensity 7050. This makes the two ROMs compatible and the fact that my listing linked above makes no mention of unlocked bootloaders this seems even more likely. Plus they make mention of the model name changing from TB372FC to TB370FU. The former is the model name of the Matte display version in both regions and the latter is the model name of the standard display in both regions.

So I think there's a high chance you're getting the proper Global ROM over ZUI in this instance.

Runs on Android 12, with promised updates to Android 13

Android 15 was released on 3rd September, 2024. Why are Lenovo so far behind?

    • +1

They're not. Descriptions don't get updated after they're written.

      • +1

So they come with Android 15?

        • +1

There's like nothing shipping with Android 15 currently and only a small handful of devices have received the update. I.e. Pixel phones. This tablet is supported until 2027 and currently has Android 14.

        • +1

Is there something in Android 15 you need ?

The important thing is that you get ongoing security updates - the days of Android versions adding exciting new features are long gone.

            @Nom:

Is there something in Android 15 you need ?

Just asking why a device is shipping with an OS release 4th October 2021, ie 3 years ago. It seems to me that the manufacturer is lazy in not updating it's software.

That speaks to the overall level of support you can expect on the product. Yes, including security updates. I know Android 15 was just released, so shipping with say 14 isn't such a big deal, but they haven't bothered to update their OS in 3 years, which I find concerning.

I know they are not charging "Apple" prices, so I should expect "Apple" level of updates, but is this normal for Android manufacturers?

            • +1

@Chris McMahon: Lenovo P12 was released July 2023 and shipped with Android 13. It was never running Android 12.

              • @Clear: So the description is wrong?

Runs on Android 12, with promised updates to Android 13

            • @Chris McMahon: Just noticed a typo and can't edit it.

              Should be:

I know they are not charging "Apple" prices, so I shouldn't expect "Apple" level of updates, but is this normal for Android manufacturers?

Is it Omled display or LCD, the listing says LCD

    • +1

LCD op should edit the title and description.
