Hills 24m A-Frame Clothes Airer $20 (RRP $49.95) + Delivery ($0 C&C / In-Store) @ Mitre 10

1370

Was too slow to pull the trigger on this deal Hill’s Portable Clothesline $99 (RRP $249) + Delivery ($0 C&C / in-Store) @ Mitre 10 and went out of stock whilst in my cart.

Guess it was a blessing, as I wasn't wholeheartedly committed to spend nearly $100 on a clotheline/airer this early into the weekend.

Ended up landing on this $20 airer, which I found should do the trick. Seems like it's sturdy enough and will be a decent upgrade to the current flimsy $6 Kmart 12-rail airers we are using!

Edit: 30/11/2024 @ 6:39pm AEDT: Just a side note to also make sure you join the Mighty Rewards as well. I've just noticed that I've been rewarded with a $5 Mighty Blue Welcome Bonus, and together with the first purchase I now have $5.20 in Mighty Rewards. This would come in handy to buy a secondary one of these to effectively pay $14.80 for the second item, if you're in need of two of these. Otherwise, put the $5.20 into some other Cyber Monday sale item 😎

This is part of Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals for 2024

24m of drying space this is something extra ordinary

      Half Olympic sized drying power.

Ikea Frost is around $20 so this RRP feels inflated. The Ikea one is pretty sturdy too.

    • +5

Just Googled this IKEA Frost… This looks no better than the $6 Kmart flimsy as hell ones I've been using!

      • +4

Not even the same design. The Ikea one is much better.

      • +3

The ikea one is better and worth the extra over the Kmart one. The wires are stronger and have less flex so it doesn’t bend over time with heavy loads and become unstable.
Also the ikea one is more versatile and allows you to hang longer items without folding them over.

        • -2

          huehuehue…heavy loads. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

IKEA ones are the best ones. Made from proper steel rods. Super sturdy. Have 2 using daily for 5 years. No problems

        • +2

I had one for around 7 years & it was great. Just don't leave them outside in the sun for their whole life because it will make the plastic brittle & flake off.

@WatchNerd: The point still stands (no pun intended). OP listed a different class with a thicker and a more sturdy frame. Currently I use the one sold by ALDI for around the same RRP. Getting this one as well. Thanks OP, bought this one too. If the extra $1 bothers you, please buy IKEA ones.

@Ozsaver88: These replies are talking about the comparison between the Kmart & Ikea. But since you brought it up it's debatable whether the Mitre 10 one is actually better than the Ikea.

Looks like plastic connections (hinges) & thin wiring where you hang the clothes. Seen plenty of these thrown out in council clean ups because the thin wiring gave way at the welding points or the plastic hinges broke.

      • My kmart one started rusting through the plastic! 😂

      • Yep, I own two IKEA Frosts and they are perfect. Strong thick wire, folds flat, no screws, no plastic joints to break and it's tall enough to fully hang a double sized sheet. Not good enough? You can hold it down on a windy day using tent pegs. All this for $19. @AnDyStYLe is full of shirt.

The Frost is a bit heavy so it may not be suitable for everyone.

      • +1

The IKEA one is narrower than the Kmart one. It's a bit too narrow for my men's size t-shirts and polos, they wrinkle up at each end of the rod.

I don't mind because I'm not particularly fussy and I tend to hang them at the armpit point on the shirt, so any wrinkles that come through on the shirt are underneath the armpits anyway. If you're a woman with smaller sizes it's a no brainer, the IKEA is better.

  • Thanks Op just what I need ordered from local store for pickup. it takes 2-5 days to be sent to the store from their warehouse.

  • Many thanks, OP. 2024 is shaping up to be quite a year for airer deals!

    • Ha ha yeah there has been a frenzy of clothes airer deals lately!

  • Does anyone know how this one compares to the one posted yesterday?

I've got this one. It's quite sturdy, the lines are thick and the top bit is great for hanging shirts on a hanger.

  • Thanks OP, the SABCO one went out of stock at my local, so grabbed this instead 🙏

    • Had one of these for almost 10 years until the it got all rusty and the metal lines in the middle started to fall off.

I have that one. Main problem with that one is you have to balance the weight of the clothes, put too much weight on one side and it falls over. It also takes up a fair bit of space, you can’t really just put up one side unless you only use a few of the closer in racks

However it otherwise works fine. I prefer the X-shaped ones eg https://www.mitre10.com.au/hills-premium-bamboo-12-rail-aire…. (You can get it for 1/2 price on one of the Chinese sites) but it isn’t as good for large stuff (as it hangs over the lower racks). But more stable and compact

  • Got one. Thanks OP

  • thanks OP

  • I've had this very one for a while and it's fine for the task at hand.

  • Thanks OP. Just ordered one.
