From my own research, the downsides are:
  • 16GB RAM
  • Lenovo customer support possibly sucks
  • The construction quality on the power button can be a problem
(tip I found is to disable power button when in tablet mode as you are likely to hit it accidently - bad design).

Still a great price for these specs especially if you're after a 2in1 with a glass monitor that feels nice to write/draw on.

  • Is it worth saving $100 to get a fingerprint reader and unnamed "integrated graphics"? https://www.lenovo.com/au/en/p/laptops/yoga/yoga-2-in-1-seri…

    • +1

Looks like the only difference other than the fingerprint reader is the warranty and shipping time. Confusing!

I could be wrong, but the graphics would be the same, wouldn't it?

      • Some show up as "integrated graphics", some are more specific like "Intel Graphics (integrated)" or "Integrated AMD Radeon™ 780M" so they may be different chips.

      • +1

Yeah, I've been trying to read up on it, but the only thing I can find is that the 8840HS has the 780M as its graphics model. So it sounds like you're paying $100 for:

        • faster shipping (although I've found Lenovo to be slow regardless what you pick)
        • removal of the fingerprint reader
        • privacy shutter on the webcam
        • 1 additional year on-site warranty

which makes it sound like a corporate option (they want the privacy shutter and no fingerprint reader to control security).

        • Interesting. You are probably right here as most of the reviews I have seen list it with this card. If the CPU is AMD then likely the GPU is too. Strange

          • +1

@gacked69: Without the current 50% sale also being applied to on-site warranty, it would be roughly aligned with +$107 for an additional year of warranty.

    • Could ask chat about specifics and then compare benchmarks versus the 780M. I'd be lightly gaming on this so seems worth it.

      • +1

Yeah, I couldn't get the chat to open, and I'm not about to call them during black friday sales. I'll probably go for the 83DKCTO1WWAU3 instead, risk the GPU since I don't actually have any graphics intensive plans for it.

        • +1

They confirmed that it was 780M and you were right. But then, as it was also in my cart while I chatted, it sold out (edit: nvm, just bugged out). I'm happy with the +1 year warranty and that privacy shutter 😂

  • I hate that lenovo doesn't give you any option to upgrade RAM to 32GB, either through customising this on their website, or even self upgrading (coz of RAM being soldered)
