The Ally is definitely a better choice than the MSI Claw devices. Even MSI is aware of this.
They already announced their 2nd gen device, showed it off at Computex and have also already pushed back its release to 2025.
I would still BBSS the extra dollars for a Legion Go (which I just did. Yay!!) or Steam Deck - or go the 2nd hand route - rather than go for the Ally at this stage.
I'm thinking about a steamdeck because the Ally X is too expensive and all the others mean you are tethered to a power point!
Whichever one you choose, how long the battery lasts depends almost entirely on how you use it & what performance sacrifices you're willing to accept.
For me personally, I'm basically permanently tethered to either a power point or a battery pack anyway.
If you get yourself a decent one of those you can ameliorate the power vs mobility equation.

You can get the original ROG Ally (UK version) for similar price on Amazon. It's a much better device despite its small battery and poor warranty experiences (Asus not doing right by their customers). These are just underpowered and performance per watt is sub par.
