  • Can I pay the difference with Afterpay? I.e. Samsung Galaxy S24 5G 256GB $1787 - $1200 = $587 through afterpay in store?

Trying to use my partner's $30 off first afterpay order discount to squeeze just a bit more from the deal

    • Yes.

    • maybe get 2 plans so you dont have a difference?

  • My 2 years JB plan has just finished 2 days ago, and I’ve just checked that I have $0 cancellations fee payable if I do it now. So is it possible to go in store and get my current plan cancelled and immediately sign up this new plan? Many thanks

    • No, as you are not a new/port-in customer.

    • port to superloop its close to instant then go in and port back

  • Random question - does JB price match Amazon ?

  • Hmmm, cancelling the plan gets the Samsung S24 Ultra 256gb for $1,476

    • It says new/port-in on the title…

  • Does anyone know if its hard to pass a credit check while on jobseeker? My experian is on 850 atm

  • Any idea is this is similar to the $1350 for a pixel 9 pro? I missed out on the other deal the other day.

Get $1350 off a Google Pixel 9 Pro Phone◊ when you switch your number to JB HI-FI Mobile on a $89 plan over 24 months#. Plan reverts to $99 per month after 24 Months.
    - $89 per month plan over 24 months. Plan reverts to $99 per month after 24 Months.

    • Similar but you are getting a gift of $1200 to use towards anything at JB - in this case, the other deal would have been better if buying the Pixel.

      • do you happen to know if the $800 repayment would also be applicable if doing this 1350 off pixel deal? i cant seem to find that written anywhere.

        • Most likely. The voucher repayment fee is based on the plan and for the $89/99 it is $800.

        • Yes, I have done it

  • Hi guys, new to this.

How do you pay the Maximum Voucher Repayment fee? Is it out of your own pocket or is it deducted from the $1200 gift card voucher?

    Thank you.

    • +2

The $1200 is a JB Gift card used only for purchasing goods from the store.
When you sign up to the plan and cancel, you will get a bill from Telstra pro-rata the maximum voucher repayment fee i.e. $800.
You will not be able to use the gift card to pay for the bill.

      • Thank you. Appreciate it!

        • You can always look at selling the gift card on marketplace at for about 15 per cent below face value as 10 per cent below is common now through the gift cards offered at coles when they run their sales.

      • The t&c dont mentions the $800 fee cant find where this num is coming from

im planning to get my wife iphone 16 pro max 1Tb, how is this deal worth better if we buy outprice with boost mobile 12 months prepaid sim

  • Can't believe I waited for this for a few months only to have my nbn fixed and the Telstra modem decided to work in backup mode again. Guess I'll be buying someone's jb hifi gift card instead.

  • So is there a dummies guide to how this works? Im having a brain fart day as ive got a 6 month old and running on f.a. sleep.

    Buy phone on plan.

    Cancel plan

    Keep phone and pay outstanding.

Where does the voucher come into play, is that offset by total cost or does that go towards phone? I dont really want the voucher for a future purchase offset on total cost.

    • You get $1200 gift card not a phone.

When you cancel, you keep the gift card but have to pay $800 cancellation fee + pro rata of the $89 cost (if cancelled within the firstmonth).

I managed to port out from existing JB plan to an amaysim esim this morning, and then get the deal at lunch.

    • Did they ask any questions?

      • Nah he had a conversation with another guy, who was like 'whatever' he is not a current customer.

    • I just wanted to say:
@RustyBBag: You sir are a legend ! I didn't think it was possible. But I've managed to pull this off today !

      • +1

Hahaha yeah I was like 'worst case scenario I'm with amaysim until boxing day'

  • Where in the T&C does it show this Voucher repayment fee cap? When I look it shows below but can't find where it states the cap.

"The Voucher Repayment Fee is a pro-rata amount, equal to the total amount of the base
Voucher divided by 24 and multiplied by the months (or part months) remaining in your
Voucher Term. For example, if received a voucher with a 24-month Voucher Term, then in:
    (a) Month 1: You will need to repay 23/24 of the Voucher you received;"

  • Random question. Can I use the 1200$ voucher on the phone itself or just future purchase?

  • Anyone ever get them to do this over the phone rather than in-store?

  • Done one this morning for myself. Cancelled within the hour.
    $766.59 charged as exit fee.
Now asking a Question for my brother.. currently with Boost..
Can he get a new number instead of bringing over the existing number and still get the gift card.

    • +1

      new number no problems

    • Did you get the $89 back?
Have tried twice via chat, no dice…

      • Yes. Was only charged $766.59. Guess I was lucky as only a few are getting this.

        • Good to know, will give it another shot and see if can get an agent who is able/willing to refund, cheers!

      • I got chat to refund me today. They were more than happy to do it

        • Further to my response above, this is making me rather jealous…

          • @hubs1982: @hubs1982 any luck at all? Have tried 3x, no luck lol

            • @discountdiva: No luck, have given up.
For the record, signed up on Friday 29/11, cancelled via JB Hi-Fi app on Saturday 30/11.
The $89 is still "pending" at my credit card account.

              • @hubs1982: @hubs1982 If it makes you feel any better, I had no luck chatting 5x so giving up now. Lol still a good deal as I needed to make a huge purchase

Mine’s the same- signed up 29/11, cancelled 30/11
                Perhaps they’re getting more strict

                • @discountdiva: @discountdiva I know they have access to the history of the conversations and so they know that their colleagues have declined previously.

No idea what the criteria are and why some can get the refund and some can't…

  • activated 3 services, 1 still progressing so I have not received the gift card for it yet.. anyone in the same boat?

The first 2 went through without a hitch

  • +1

First time doing that, all went very smoothly:

    1. Walk into JB to sign up a new number (I’m existing Telstra customer), all done in 15mins

    2. An hour later, chat to Telstra app and cancel the service, with quote ‘ You won't be charge for $89 since service will be cancelled. Just the $799.92 ETF’

    Easy $400 profit for 1hour effort. (1200 gc - $800fee)

    • Does it work on the good guys?

      • I don't think so. They may ask you to pay $1200 back (or 1200 x (23/24)) to be precise.

        • why do you say that?

          • @SlanZ: Because I asked the guys at good guys and they told me I would need to pay full amount. I could ignore them but the fact that they are saying like that doesn't give enough confidence to go with them.

      • It should work. See here https://www.telstra.com.au/help/critical-information-summari…
By canceling you have to pay 800$ it says

    • What do you mean you won’t be charged $89? You have to pay that in store.

      • I have no idea, there’s no charge on my credit card. Maybe I’m an existing Telstra customer?
In my account, I only have an outstanding invoice of $799.92 due on 13/12/2024

        • That’s awesome! I guess the staff member forgot to charge you the first month’s plan fee. WINNING!

          • @Maths Debater: We did setup the DD together, again I have no idea what’s going on here. That said, it does save me the trouble of getting that charge refunded.

        • Yeah I am not sure what happened either… So I cancelled today. Got told it wouldn't be refunded so I have 766.56 (pro rata). I wasn't charged in store (existing Telstra member with billing cycle not yet up) and I don't see any forthcoming or existing charge for $89. Just the termination fee and my other plan.

      • I've done 2 of these plans in the last 12 months or so. Both times I've not paid upfront.

Was existing Telstra customer for both sign-ups, new number each time and they were put on the same bill cycle as my normal service. $799 cancellation fee.

Likely something to do with being an existing Telstra customer. (Edit: Although I 'think' I have seen some comments in previous deals where they will still charged up front so who knows….)

If you need to pay the upfront fee, their system will prompt it and the sales rep 'should' inform you.

  • How long after cancelling before you get the $800ish bill?

Easy $800 profit though, got the TCL tv cheap 🙂

    • You get the bill immediately and get around 14 days or so to pay.

    • Didnt get the bill until the day after, have 14 days total until i have to pay. $799.92 per number i cancelled. I already had a jb hifi $49 a month plan and they let me sign up to 2 more. Could have apparently signed up to 10. Was very easy through the app to cancel both plans. Messaged through the chat and asked to cancel. $400 profit per plan.

    • Generally by the following day.

  • Does anyone know if good guys one have any catch?

  • Awesome, got it from JB hi-fi Capalaba. Will get Christmas gifts and school device sorted with this

  • So could you technically sign up for two new numbers. Get the 2x 1200 gift cards.

Cancel each of them with 2x $799 bills totalling $1598.

Then use the 2400 in gift cards for an LG C4 priced matched appliance central at 2600 and pay the 200 difference?

    So all in 1798 for a 65 C4?

    • Yep I did this last month to get a TV

      • Can you get two numbers in same name or need someone else ?

        • +1

Hey yes, I know already past but you couldve signes up to multiple numbers in same name. It says up to 3 but they told me in store they could sign up to 10. You can cancel them same day through the jbhifi app real easily.

        • All under the same account I didnt even bother porting my phone number over. Just got 2 new numbers

  • (profanity), man, I bought it yesterday…

  • Does this deal come around often? I'm not ready to jump on this yet, and was too busy at work to get to a JB today. If I had have remembered or been able, I'd probably just buy it and decide later if keeping.

  • Just another saving idea comes to mind, using the This week’s Coles Mastercard deal to payout the outstanding ETF due in Dec
This cards has plenty stock in Coles due to low return% popularity

  • Anyone has done the deal with the good guys?

  • just got this done right before my JB closed
left with $1200 gift card and paid $89 in store
chatted with JB hifi app and cancelled: $766.59 ETF
chatted with telstra app: was told my $89 in store payment was pending but since the order was cancelled it would be automatically refunded. kept the chat records in case

bought a edge 50 neo for $335 after missing out on the $200 ebay deal this morning!

    • You are lucky!
Have tried with at least 6 different agents on the JB Hi-fi mobile app and none of them would refund the $89 in store payment…

      • have you tried the telstra app? not sure what difference it might make
I just said I cancelled my plan due to unforeseen circumstances and that I hadn't used it at all and if they would please refund the $89

        • Not yet, will definitely give it a shot, cheers!

  • Seems to be back today at $1100 instead until Tuesday. Not quite as nice but still decent

  • Hi im still confused on how this works. I know that we will get $1100/$1200 GC but we have to pay $800 exit fees. The thing is we still have to pay $800 in advance and get $1100 gift card in return. I know its $300 profit but if we dont need or buy anything from JB often, its not that good right

    • you could sell the jbhifi GC in classifieds for 10% off and still pocket ~$200 for each connection. so its about $600 if you get 3 connections for minimal effort…

  • @Spooke512

I bought three SIM cards on a $99/month plan and received three $1200 gift cards (one per connection).

I was charged $99 on the spot for the first connection.
For the second and third connections, no amount was charged upfront, and the total amount you will pay today displayed as $0.
After returning home, I canceled all three plans on the same day.

    Voucher Repayment Breakdown:
The voucher repayment amounts varied between the first connection and the other two:

    First Connection (charged $99): $766.59
    Second Connection: $799.92
    Third Connection: $799.92

So far, I haven’t been charged the $99 monthly fee for the second and third connections.
I believe that if the monthly fee is not charged at the time of cancellation, they calculate the voucher repayment assuming the full 24-month term. I also hope that they won’t charge $99 now that all three plans have been canceled.

    Total Payments Summary:

    Initial Payment:

    First Connection: $99
    Second Connection: $0
    Third Connection: $0
    Total Initial Payment: $99
    Total Voucher Repayment: $2366.43

    Grand Total:
    $99 (initial payment) + $2366.43 voucher repayments) = $2465

    BUT

My friend did the same thing, but he was charged $89 each for all three connections on the spot. We were both new to Telstra and had never used their services before. Any idea why I wasn’t charged $99 for the second and third connections, but my friend was? This might be helpful for someone to avoid the $99 upfront charge if we can figure out the reason or if there’s a specific sequence to follow

    • No idea why that would be the case. It could be something related to the credit check, but it's hard to know.
I have noticed when putting them through some get charged some don't, but I cannot see anything on my side that would determine that.

      • made the payment using my credit card, while my friend used a debit card to set up the account, not sure if that could have made any difference.

  • I am on a $99 plan that I took out in a jb hifi store just over a year ago. I have been able to monitor and access this via the Telstra app. I received an email a few days ago from Telstra saying they were moving me off the Telstra $99 plan and onto the JB hi-fi $99 plan. I’m wondering whether the cancellation fees for the JB hi-fi plans in the future will be different. The main difference is that I will be paying for my service in advance rather than in arrears.

  • I was charged $89 and cancelled the service same day.
The first person I asked to refund, they told me this could not be done.

Waited 2 days, tried again - First person in chat refunded me the amount.

This is how the convo went:

Me: hi, i signed up for a telstra service through JB hifi but i had to cancel due to unforseen circumstances a few hours later. i was charged 1 month in advance, I was wondering if this could please be refunded as i did not use the service at all.
Telstra: On checking, I could see that you have activated and cancelled the JB Hi-Fi service on 30/11/2024. Also, I could see that you have $89 for this service. - I will process the refund amount and get back to you.

  • I just used vanilla visa giftcards to pay the ETC.
Use this link, the JB mobile payment link didnt work for me. Hope it helps anyone who took advantage of this deal

  • Bugger!

Just signed up to this finally and now it looks like I'll be out of the country in 13 months.

24 month contract locked in with this.

A ny idea if I keep it for 13 months and then cancel it I still keep the voucher and just pay contract cancel fees?

    • You can cancel today, keep the gift card and pay (800/24) * number of months left.
      If 23, (800/24) * 23 =766.6

      • Cheers for the maths.
        Appreciated

  • The offer has been extended to the 29/12
