[Refurb] Kogan 40" Curved Ultrawide WUHD 5K Freesync USB-C Monitor (5120x 2160) - $479.99 + Shipping @ Kogan

80

Transform your workspace with this 40” Curved Ultrawide WUHD Monitor, with a beautiful 5K2K resolution that delivers crystal clear images, and USB-C connectivity for a single-cable solution with rapid display and power delivery.

ATL for a new one is $579.99 so this is $100 cheaper for a refurbished model. I'm unsure about the reputation for refurbished items with Kogan.

  • I can't find the $579.99 for new 40" WUHD monitor, can you show me the link, please?

  • According to the spec sheet it's an IPS panel with a 75hz refresh rate. That's kind of ridiculous for something that size and res and so cheap. Very tempting…

    • It is Kogan though. I wouldn’t trust the quality of the screen despite what it says. A friend has an ultra wide from them and it all looks a little washed out.

      • That's the thing. It'll have bad motion clarity, or the colours will be radically off from d65, or the freestnc implementation will be busted, or the thing'll just curl up its toes and die after a few months. Still… So cheap… I just bought the lg 32gs85 for $550 and it's only 1440p. This thing is 2160p, the same vertical height and an extra nine inches horizontally. Buyer's remorse is biting hard.

        • Yeah I’m keen on this but very hesitant on the quality. Someone here did a nice video review of this or the 34” version (also 2160p) and they said the picture was great but everything else (OSD, controls, behaviour, plastic, build) fairly questionable. They said the panel is made by LG. Probably the same used in monitors twice the price. But if the power supply or video processing or use control electronics is cheap and nasty, it won’t last.

Edit: the other thing stopping me is I currently run 2 x 28” 4K monitors which is very nice and probably the same roughly as one of these Kogan units.

  • any other brands have their own version of this size?

  • Ughhh i wish this were 120hz or even 100hz

  • Haven't used this for gaming or anything, but for productivity usage, this monitor is awesome! Curve is way lower than the 34" ultrawide I upgraded from (will take some getting used to, after being used to the higher curve), but otherwise I have loved it (in the short time I actually got to use it before going on parental leave!).

I paid $599, so this is 20% less than what I paid - for my usage (90% productivity), I would probably take that gamble on the refurb!

Given the price of the alternative Dell/LG 40" 5K2K monitors, I was very happy with this!

If you want it for gaming, I'd say you're probably better off with a 38" (or 34") ultrawide.

    • Same as me, don't game anymore so just using this for WFH. Colour and brightness seems fine just had to get a new work laptop that supports the higher resolution of this monitor. It was also a bit picky about the USB C cable so really need to make sure you don't cheap out on the cable.

I had to return the first one that had a dead pixel but the replacement has been going strong for a few months now.

  • Any difference in picture quality vs Xiaomi 34" widescreen?
