  • Until Sony/LG drop their prices, I can’t see why anyone would purchase this over the TCL C855 unless they have money to burn. Almost $3k more for the Bravia 9 isn’t worth it.

    • +2

All reviews and comparisons I've seen seem to put the Bravia 9 above TCL and Hisense TVs for picture accuracy when compared to reference monitors. The TCL and Hisense tvs usually get much brighter but will crush blacks to have more constrast and lose shadow details. Also Sony upscaling also seem to be highly rated, which is valuable when watching on larger screens and watching lower res content.

      Example:
      https://youtu.be/SixONfjwb7o?si=Ac8muI-GcTQD7xFS

I think it all comes down to preference of picture accuracy vs more contrast/brighter panel.

      • +2

I’m not saying the TCL is better, it’s not. But I don’t believe the better picture accuracy and upscaling is worth $3000. Just my opinion. I’d rather put that money towards a decent sound system to go with the TV.

        • +1

Picture accuracy is quite important with HDR where inaccurate tracking of brightness can make an image look completely wrong.

I wouldn't buy any TV that presents content incorrectly regardless of how much cheaper it is.

          • @tp0: longevity as well, you can quite reasonably expect a Sony/LG/Samsung to last you 5-10 years.
Hisense/TCL can you really be confident in them?

77" LG Oled - is almost $1000 cheaper. Why get a 75" Mini LED when you can get a 77" OLED for cheaper???

    • +1

When brightness is the issue is the only answer here

    • +1

Some people really buy into the OLED FUD. Although those people usually also get tricked into thinking that TCL can somehow make a better TV than Sony for half the price.

      • +1

The best part of purchasing a TCL is membership of the cult.

        • I understand why people choose TCL, they are so good when it comes to bang for buck and will only get better.

Though it is almost double the price, I use a QN90D as screen presentation, quality, software familarity, etc is a treat and can totally understand those who have the more expensive Sony models as their premium models are gorgeous. A friend has one setup in their dedicated home theatre room for movie nights and it is pure quality.

    • Maybe its a typo and they are selling a micro-led TV?

Or you can get the Sony 83" OLED (seconds) -

I got the Bravia 7 75 for $2550 . Just get sony store to price match the lowest then do it again.
Just beware , it’s been 2 weeks since purchase, I still don’t have it and their support is woeful.

    • +1

Great job! I tried to get Sony to price beat TGG $2940 Bravia 7 75", but they declined saying they don't price match website errors. I ended up getting the box damaged from eBay instead.

    • explain how you did this?
I wanted the damaged box from Sony Ebay of roughly the same price

      • I would just get the eBay one as all the price matching was a hassle and took ages.
Got a box damaged ebay 65 not long ago and it was perfect.
