@Laziofogna: Thanks mate, in this case, why some people prefer Disc is that we can use friend's game disc and not have to pay digitally in terms of digital console right? Like I am curious what's the preference and why?
@ARD: You spend $100 on a disc you play and have the option to resell, to lend to a friend, it stays with you forever. Digital you spend $100 and that's it.
@ARD: Typically new release games on disc in Australia are cheaper than digital. This is thanks to the competition between our retailers.
@Laziofogna: Yes and no. The disc now acts as a license key for most games. Even if you buy the disc, the PS5 still installs the game data and requires the disc in the drive to play. You can trade or lend physical games, which you can't do with digital versions. However, there's no guarantee that the full game content is on the disc, nor is offline play always assured.

It was ebay about 2 years ago. It was a 'flash' sale but everyone managed to get one I think, and they also started earlier than expected, everyone thought it was going to crash the server.
edit: November 2023. $506 fat disk with Spiderman 2. However, the Spiderman 2 game was the the 'wokest' game I've ever experienced, because unlike in Spiderman 1 where you just play as Spiderman, in Spiderman 2 you also have to play as random characters including an deaf black girl and do graffitying missions, Spiderman's girlfriend who is slow and weak but massively overpowered with a gun (did anyone ask to play as either of them?), there's a second spiderman Miles (which is not bad, but wasn't needed), the additions of missions related to black history that feels forced (like did anyone ask for the history of black jazz musicians, or how they contributed to modern music? Why is black Spiderman going on a monologue of that subject? Or did we really need a character in the game to tell us how his company uses 'DEI' hires as its strengths? Feel so forced PR… And as a reminder, this is a Spiderman game), and a mission where you help a teen ask out his crush, who by chance, turns out to be a guy. Like these are not statistically normal incidents, definitely feels forced and 'woke'. Spiderman 1 Spiderman (the white Spiderman) has taken a back seat in this game, and Spiderman Miles (black Spiderman) has stepped up here which adds some variety and added banter, and the game sets up at the end with the the white Spiderman giving the 'reigns' to Spiderman Miles, so we may see a more 'cool' and 'gangsta' (not because he's black, but because of his vibe including music) Spiderman in the future. Went off a tangent here but looking forward to Spiderman 3 but I doubt we will see as much of this 'forced' diversity in it with Trump in office now.
Just to be clear, I am not against diversity, I prefer it. But not when it's not natural and is forced to look normal like it does in the game; it doesn't reflect reality. Then again, we are talking about a 'Spiderman' vigilanty being reality…

Disc console has a physical disc drive. If you want to buy and try lots of different games, it can cost a lot less to purchase physical discs and then sell them/flip them/trade them with friends. If you purchase a digital console, you can ONLY play games through the PS store. If you intend on buying the PS Plus (Premium) subscription service as well, then it's saving a small amount on the initial purchase price.
Personally, I have a large catalogue of PS4 discs that I want to be able to play! Some of which you could buy on marketplace for cheap.

Yes and managed to price match at JB Hi-Fi along with discounted controller & dual charger. The title did not state “slim” but it’s actually a slim version with the bundle. The picture of the package checks out.
Why is this in the normal slim category?
Disc means you can purchase a physical copy of the game to play on the disc version. So in the future when the console gets older or there are discounts on physical copies of disc games you can purchase them for less. The disc version also has access to digital downloads for the games via the PlayStation store.
The digital version you can only buy games from the PlayStation store hence the digital version you can't buy a physical disc game.
BUT since this is the newer slim model you can add a disc drive by buying it for extra to make you digital ps5 slim into a disc version.
In my opinion though if you can get PS Plus for cheap (the online subscription) you wouldn't really need to purchase as many games as they are available through your PS Plus subscription.
On the original PS5 (Fat model), the digital model could not add on a disc drive. :)

What's the OzB sentiment on the Pro? I'm thinking since I have the nicest TV I've ever owned (75C855) I should capitalize on it's capabilities with the Pro. I don't currently have a console and mainly intend to play GTA6.

They're too expensive, but if you have a quality big TV IMO you may as well make it look as good as possible. I was holding out for GTA, but Santa ended up putting one under the Christmas tree and I've been loving it. Unless you're holding out for a special, I'd just get it sooner rather than later.
Yeah that's my thinking. It is such a nice TV that I feel almost obligated to get the most out of it. I guess that's value in it's own way.
I've enjoyed my pro since launch and think it's worth it. But really it doesn't play anything extra if the PS5. So it just depends if you value savings or performance.

If you don’t have a console and have a nice TV get the Pro. Some of the criticisms of the Pro are that it’s not worth the upgrade over PS5 OG.
With Death Stranding 2 exclusive in June, all it will take is rockstar dropping the second trailer for GTA6 in the next 5-8 weeks with a release date, there will be a swift run on PS5 Pro units globally. China had shortages of base PS5 during black myth, so it's almost a guarantee scalpers will hit the Pro leading up to GTA6. The chance to even buy one is basically all down to rockstar posting a trailer tbh.

2025 was always the officially slated release period. Take 2 CEO was only discussing the marketing campaign strategy last week. The leaks would have absolutely decimated their original plan so this is what we get. Momentum will pick up
2 weeks ago strauss zelnick strongly suggested the marketing will start closer to release and rockstars next earnings call is next month, so i expect we'll know soon. People will absolutely scalp the pro units in early spring if the trailer lands.
I recently bought the PS5 console with the Astrobot bundle. Everything looks great, but I’ve hit a snag when trying to redeem the code that came inside the package.
When I enter the code on my PS5 , I get this error:
“The prepaid card could not be redeemed. Please try again later.”
Tried a few times but no luck. I also tried with no luck from my ps app.
Edit: I’m posting this here because I was wondering – do we need to take the barcode sheet (that came in the box) back to JB Hi-Fi to get it activated? Has anyone else experienced this when trying to redeem Astrobot or similar bundle codes?
Haven’t found much help online, so hoping someone here can point me in the right direction.TIA
I redeemed my god of war bundle last time without issue, no it doesn't need to be activated and should just work.
Some tips:
- Ensure you’re entering the code correctly without mixing up characters like "0" and "O" or "1" and "I". Avoid including dashes if present in the code.
- Make sure you are not logged in to a US account but australia account as the code likely for aus region only
- Sometimes, PlayStation servers may experience temporary issues. Wait a few hours and try again.
If all fails, I guess will need to contact jb hifi for help.

Whilst I would buy digital games 95% of the time, I regret getting a digital PS5. It is nice having the option to get cheaper physical games and to play Blu-rays and DVD's etc.
