For those paying in USD this is how you get the correct exchange rate in PayPal:

Setting overseas websites to AUD or letting PayPal do the currency conversion results in an inflated rate. To get the correct rate you need a card without international fees and do the following:

  • Set the website currency to USD
  • Checkout with PayPal
  • Select your card with no international fees
  • Click "See currency options"
  • Select USD to bill the card in USD instead of AUD
  • Proceed with checkout

How does this compare with QCY Melobuds?

  • +2

Why pay $28 (only accessible to cards with no internstional fees) when you can just buy from Amazon for $31 with faster delivery and easier warranty process?

    • +3

The 15.5% cashback is a decent incentive, we’re on OzBargain after all

      • so $24 vs $31?

one can deliver tomorrow and the other maybe ~2 weeks.

        • $24 is a great price for these

          • -6

@scottySK: not a big deal really

I have this and i think its worth less than $20

            • +6

@meong: I have this and think it's worth more than $40

              • -3

@scottySK: if you have been dealing with a few chi-fi you'll start having higher expectations

        • +4

Some people value the speed and convenience of Amazon and others might want to save a few bucks. Just providing an answer to your question as to to why some people might prefer this deal. Buy it from wherever you want 🤷🏽‍♂️

        Big deal!

  • +5

$31.11 on Amazon and you can change your mind or return without having to pay overseas shipping fee.

    • Same with this deal. Free 90 day returns.

      • Amazon's policy is much easier to deal with than Aliexpress.

For $3 difference without cashback or $7 with cashback its easier to just buy from Amazon.

        • +4

Sure but this is OzBargain where the cheapest price matters.

          • -1

@Clear: of course, hence why i didnt downvote this deal as it still constitutes as a deal but still not worth the hassle

            • @meong: After a combined 20.5% off with cashback and coins it seems like a hassle spending more from Amazon if there's an off chance you want to return them. When AliExpress would send you a return label anyway.

If the price difference after all discounts was closer to 5% maybe I'd be making such a big deal about Amazon returns.

Comes off as more than just trying to look at for people. More of a deep hatred towards this.

              • -1

@Clear: and how much is 20%?

                you're overthinking about "deep hatred".

I think you just feel challenged about this deal.

                "it's Ozbargain after all"

                • +1

@meong: It's true. This is OzBargain and it's all about the cheapest price. You keep bashing this deal and think paying significantly more for returns justifies it. You've already stated above you hate these earphones.

It's like those people who upvote all the Aldi deals at RRP because they're "limited". Just like all the milk in the fridge at the supermarket.

                  • -2

@Clear: Like i said, you are overthinking this and correlate this to "hatred" and "bashing". This is just standard Ozbargain interaction.

I did mention above I didn't neg this vote as it still constitutes a deal.

Direct your anger at people who abuse the negative votes.

  • What is the mic / call quality like?

    • +1

None of earbuds style have good mic. Unless you work in very quiet place , a $5 mic placed in front of your mouth always do better job than $300 earbuds mic.

      • This true but mostly for wireless earbuds.

Some of the wireds one can be okay if it has attachments for boom mic.

    • OK, with the usual proviso that the mic's a long way from your mouth so ambient noise is an issue. No fancy noise-canceling.

  • +1

My Nothing Ear pods melted (USB cable problem? Nothing problem?) and I replaced them with these.

They lack the fancy features like stroking for volume control, but they sound fine and the noise cancellation is really, really good. Better than the Nothing Ear.

I don't like the ergonomics of the case, but I'll probably 3d print a cover that'll make them feel more secure.

    • Which one is smaller, Space Travel or Nothing Ear?

      • +1

Pretty similar. The Nothing has a slightly longer stalk, but it's functional and transparent. The MoonDrop's case is larger.

  • Is this price over? Shows $30 or is it after the code which i thought only cancels out gst..
