  • I want to know what is the benefit for buying from Apple rather than from JB? JB gift card on sale frequently for 10% off. The only benefit I can think is use this gift card to purchase within game.

    • +1

If you want customised Apple hardware e.g MBP with more ram, can only customise at Apple

      • Or a foreign language keyboard.

    • +5

If you bought in JB, then opened it and changed of mind, nah they won’t honour it.
      Apple no issue

      • thanks

      • Speaking of that… I think the Genius Bar has mostly given up loan devices for repairs - they just ask me to purchase another laptop outright, and then return and refund on the day I pick up mine. (I didn't do that eventually, though) But apparently I'm not alone.

It's kind of funny that the guy just told me it's a very reasonable use of their terms of sales 🤣. Really can't blame them.

    • +2

BTO custom hardware, can use your education store discount, stacks with the current gift card rebates Apple are offering and you get a no questions asked change of mind return/refund/trial currently extended until the 8th of Jan.

  • I am upset there is no 15% off Ultimate or TCN on black Friday this year.

    • Never say neverrrr

    • There was 20% off on Nintendo eShop gift cards earlier this year. Last time was… last time.

The time there was 15% off (straight off) on Apple GC was nice, too.

    • definitely not with that attitude

  • What is it mean by up to 50,000 points? What if need to buy $3600 worth of gift cards? It will only apply 20x flybuys to first $2500? and normal flybuys to the balance?

    • Good luck finding $3600 of Apple gift cards in store. Last time this deal or the equivalent for the ultimate cards - they disappeared from stores before the offer even started.

      • There have been plenty of x20 points apple gift cards offers the past few weeks at coles, woolies and big w. I think there will be enough stock but might have to visit a few stores.

        • Yup, there was two rounds from WW and Big W in the last 30-60 days.

It's actually quite easy to do the full $2500 in variable valued cards where you can top up to $500 each - only 5 are needed.

Some promos may be limiting the bonus points to per transaction per day instead of per account. So it's very likely you can sweep the shelf of the same store if really dedicated.

    • +3

That clause is a little counter-intuitive, but from my experience with past Flybuys deals like this one at Coles:

      • You will earn 20x points (which equates to 1x standard point and 19x standard points), up to a cap of 50,000 Flybuys points per Flybuys account during this deal. This equates to $2,500 worth of Apple gift cards.

      • If you go over this cap during this deal, you will continue to earn 1x standard point per $1 spent, but no bonus points.

For example, if you purchase $3,600 worth of Apple gift cards during this deal and you use the same Flybuys account for these purchases, you will earn:

      • 50,000 Flybuys points for the first $2,500 spent, and

      • 1100 Flybuys points for the remaining $1,100 spent.

  • Can i pay using flybuys points or convert them into dollars and pay?

    • want to know as well

      • Pay for what? Coles groceries, yes, in store and online via flypay.

        • pay for apple giftcards

          • @etan: OK, presumably using the in store version then - flybuys dollars just works like an eftpos card so I assume it's agnostic as to wtf you're actually buying with it. No personal experience though.

            • @ely: You can only redeem $10 per day / store ? I tried on 2nd order scan doesn't even show up the instant $10 off.

              • +1

@dlovep: You need to convert your points to flybuys dollars in the app, have a physical flybuys card, and then can spend them as if it it's just money in your flybuys bank account.

                • @OzLocutus: Yeah, this is the way, then you can pay as much as you like - also my understanding is that the instant $10 off is a deduction from the price, which can sometimes interfere with minimum spends for e.g. the "spend $x for four weeks get y,000 points" deals, while the flybuys dollars approach do not.

  • If limit is 5 cards per day and I need $2500 do they sell $500 cards?

    • +2

Yes, Coles sells a $20-$500 variable load denomination, and you can load $500 onto that.

      • +1

        ty kind wookie

  • 50K points is worth $250 right?

    • +1

      Yep $250

  • Hi
    Thanks for the post!
Want to buy 10 GCs with total worth of $2K but apple would allow only 8 GC to use online? Could i buy higher denomination? For that should we approach service desk?
Also, for tampering cross check, is it allowed to open the GC packet before payment?
Where can we find more details in coles website
    TIA

    • +3

Just add money to your apple account

need to buy something at officeworks tomorrow i have onepass which is 5X OOTB but any deals guys for flybuys or gift cards?

  • +1

If you don't see any of the denomination you want see the staff they keep heaps in the cupboards. I got 5x 500 and got a Mac mini M4 Pro with 48GB RAM. Nice 20% saving stacked with Edu store, plus $27 from Shopback

    • Or could see it as about 50% off RAM upgrade which makes it a more reasonable upgrade

    • I haven't done this before. May I confirm the steps: I need to buy $1800 laptop.
      1. Access Coles to buy the apple gift card to load 3 cards of $500 + $300 gift cards= $1800
      2. Tap my flybuys card to receive the points.
      3. Buying my laptop from Apple Education store online by using the purchased gift cards.

I am getting total of 36000 points which equals to $180 saving in my flybuys.

      Thanks

  • I bought 5 x $200 gc yesterday but flybuys only gave me 1,000 points and some random 95 bonus points? Should I call them up?

    • +1

According to my reading few minutes ago, you are more likely to receive your bonus points on Saturday morning. It takes around 2.5 days to receive the bonus points. The standard points is usually arrive on the following day after 5pm.

    • i got some random 38 bonus points for $850 apple giftcards

    • I bought 4x $500 + 1x $200 yesterday, received 2200 points and random 95 bonus points too, I have already emailed them requesting for clarification, if they can't get it right I'll be very pissed.

      • Be patient. Bonus points can be allocated separately

    • It happend to me as well, I have 2 transactions one is $1000 and got 95 bonus point, another is $850 and got 38 points.
Their staff told me the points should be there up to 48 hours. I bought them on 4th Dec and it is already passed…

    • Also sharing my experience here. I bought $850 worth of card on the 4th, got 850 points + 95 points, but no bonus points.
Should we wait, email or call them?

    • Same here.. bought 2150, got 2150 +95 points. I bought on 4th Dec.

    • I also got 57 points for $1300. Based on the other posts, I worked out the formula is one gift card x 0.19, so in my case $300 x 0.19 = 57. If you got 95 points it was because $500 x 0.19 = 95.

Hopefully they fix this and give us the rest of the points soon…

    • Have you received your bonus points yet?

      • Nope, still no points since the Wednesday purchase.

    • same here, brought 5x $500 on 4th Dec. 95 bonus points allocated not 47500. Submitted contact form and waiting on reply now. Lucky I was looking at the activity tab this arvo.

    • +2

Update from my end on 8/12/24

The bonus points are still 95, no changes at all. I called them up and they said they lodged a ticket to tech to confirm if it’s a glitch and the fix would take 2 weeks. Now that everyone is getting the same issue, I wonder if they should give them a call again and complain.
It’s pretty frustrating on how they can’t get this task right, while they advertise it proudly.

      • Thanks for the update. I might need to contact them as well if I don't receive it by Monday.

    • Same here. Bought $60 on Saturday, only got 38 bonus points

  • If it’s like last time today you’ll get the other 19 bonus points per $1 spent in your Fly Buys account - give it time

  • Plenty of cards available at Coles Queanbeyan this morning of all values including variable.

    • 🤫 now all the people from ACT will converge 😉

  • I guess people don't buy the cards when they see that they don't give points. I could never find them before but now every coles has all the balances. I bought $3000 worth of gift cards 3 days ago and they haven't added any points yet.

    • Same thing, bought that early Wednesday morning but still nothing as of now

    • -3

Why are you all so impatient. You do realise Coles and Flybuys would be sued if they do false marketing. As of that's even the case 🤦‍♂️

      • If it takes a month for the points to realise, then i’m sure large percentage of the customers will not even consider this an offer.

It’s taking 3 business days and almost 4 calendar days, and still no points.

How does Coles stay competitive if Woolworths pay their points much quicker than them?

        • I honestly don't get the logic, whether it's 1 day or 30 days or 60 days, someone who bought $2500 gift cards will save $250. If the standard terms were 60 days til points received I would still take it to save $250

Is 60 days (or whatever days) really that much of an opportunity cost? I suppose maybe 5% of people can make $250 out of a $2500 gamble or trade

          • +1

@freelife: The issue is inconsistency. If every single customer gets the points in 60 days, it's ok. However it seems that some customers can get the bonus points within very short time frame but some took much longer without any communication.

          • +1

@freelife: You are quoting all sorts of numbers trying to be convincing, but each and every single word only and solely represent your personal sentiment which is not applicable to the general public. If you dont get why people are unhappy, move on with your life, don’t judge people who actually care the speed of receiving points.

Learn to agree to disagree. No one should adopt your theory of life.

            • @Smilence03: I can't believe how many people are whingeing and whining.

If anybody at Coles told anybody here that it takes 48 hours they are talking BS

I've collected over $600 in fly-bys points in the last couple of years many of them 10,000 points promotions and guess what it always takes about 3 to 5 days for them to appear. Everybody here needs to stop whingeing it's an official promotion in the catalogue…..

              • @Sammy Boi: Never had to wait 3 to 5 days (except may be, over weekends). Points are always there on the second business day. And I never had points arrive in ridiculous "instalments". This time it's definitely a glitch on the Coles side and I am not sure they are going to fix it for everyone automatically, so have to call and ask for it.

            • -2

@Smilence03: I'm just saying ppl ware complaining here like the promotion is a scam. I'm just saying a bit of patience saves the unnecessary worry. Literally the post we're both replying to said "I guess people don't buy the cards when they see that they don't give points." That's a stupid conclusion, no?

  • +1

Maybe I’ve been really unlucky but I bought 4 Apple gift cards from a NSW Coles today, and 3 of them had been tampered with, but not in the manner described in the post. They were $200 and variable load cards.

The serial number on the card inside matched with the serial number on the packet.

However the last digit/letter of the code had been scrubbed out and replaced with ‘N’ in all 3 cards.

The packets were sealed and I can’t work out how they had been opened to be tampered with.

    • I had this issue at Woolies. I bought 10x cards (day 1) and 2 of them were exactly the same. The store staff were really helpful and replaced straight away.
The second lot of 10x cards (day 2) had no issue (I'd already told them I'm going to add them all to my Apple wallet before I leave).

fwiw, Rewards points were added almost immediately to my account.

Then added all the gift cards to my Apple wallet, stacked with other discounts and bought a few items via Apple online store. Happy days!

    • Did the store help you to get replacement?

  • Random update: still have not received the points.

    • same here, bought on 4 Dec.

    • Same here, bought on the 5th

    • Same. No bonus points. Bought on 5th.

    • +1, bought on 4 Dec, only random points 95.

  • Has anyone had a response from Coles/FlyBuys on when they will correct the amount of award points given?

  • I have also only received 95 points per purchase so far. I purchased 3 x $2500 and have the same issue as everyone else. I will give it a few more days and hopefully they sort it out. As usually you get them within 1-3 days unless on a weekend. Just adding my name in the hat so others don't feel it's just them and start to worry.

  • Has anyone received the bonus points at all?
or anyone tried to contact flybuys to see what's up?

  • Had bad luck recently, It has happened two times that the payment approved but fail/declined at gc activation stage, have to go through manager or experience staff for refund process.

  • Just got many small amount gift cards and activated them all in front of Coles and they all good. Very luck. But Flybuy points not yet added.

  • Just chiming in with 38 bonus points for a $700 purchase

  • Can Apple Gift Cards be used to pay for AppleCare+ Coverage for a new device?

    • Want to know a definitive answer to this as well. From what I've read, you can buy AppleCare+ with a gift card only from the Apple Store. And to not add the Gift Card to your apple balance.

  • +4

After lots of back and forth with Flybuys support (horrendous) they finally came back to me with:

“ We have escalated your concern to our support team for investigation. One of the team will be in touch as soon as we have a resolution.”

  • Hopped on to ask if anyone else has been getting flybuy points issue and realised its become a whole thing haha. Glad I'm not alone

  • I bought 2x variable load Apple gift cards last night and I just received 20x points on both purchases.

Has anyone else just received all their bonus points?

  • Chiming in with 19 bonus points for $500 variable gift card
    Bought on 10th Dec
Will wait 3 more days and see

  • Just had a call with the Flybuys team and the acknowledged that they are aware of this issue, the team provided me the link below to fill out so they are aware that I’m one of the customers that have not received the bonus points yet, feel free to put your name in it too if you want.

    https://forms.gle/5AsdAw8W99vvxYw8A

    • Beware this could be a phishing link?

      • Mate what is wrong with you? You basically commented under my reply every time I left a comment, I was just trying to be helpful because most of us is having the same issue here, don’t be such a loser here

        • I'm just saying I don't know, there's no way to verify that Google Form is officially from flybuys? If it's legit then it is, but saying there's no way to actually check?

          • -1

@freelife: definitely phishing link, no logo, typo, anyone can create this form, big company like flybuys wont never use this non-professional form.

            • +1

@Andy Nguyen: Rubbish - it’s definitely valid. I just got off the phone to Fly Buys and they sent that text message with the link to https://forms.gle/5P7hDMgrFv21DQNPA straight away for me to complete
Don’t be scaremonger without facts to back it up

              • @Bodogbodog: This form is different from Marcus' one, Did flybuys create one form for each client? what a joke. it's better to contact them via official website.

    • It's odd they gave you a random google form when there is a query form for missing points on their website, just shows how messy they are internally.

  • Bought $2000 of Apple Gift Cards on 05/12/2024. Have also only been credited 76 bonus points, not the 38,000 per the 20x promotion. Have lodged an enquiry with Flybuys.

  • As we all know there’s an issue getting the 19x bonus points credited. Ring Fly Buys support on 131 116 - they’ll note the issue and send you a link to a google form to complete - https://forms.gle/5P7hDMgrFv21DQNPA - Note that form does lack a Fly Buys branding logo but I suspect that’s the fault of their contractor as it says “This form was created inside Probe Customer Management Pty Ltd”

    • They did say it will take up to 6 weeks for bonus points to be credited on their website? So I'm wondering if I should just wait it out.

      • I also bought $2K worth in the previous 20x deal in November (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/872978) and the 19x bonus points were credited correctly within 2 days of my purchase. It definitely appears there is some form of stuff up on their end.

Also worth noting the description on my Flybuys activity statement for the November 20x and December 20x purchases are identical "Apple Gift Cards Offer_bonus Points", however the December bonus points amount is incorrect.
