This one is is on sale for this price pretty often. That RRP must be BS.

    • apologies, RRP updated, it's actually $1599

      • Will the warranty be via kogan or Masimo?

        • +1

Hey Hopper, we'll cover the 2 year warranty (Masimo Consumer) based in Mulgrave VIC

  • How is this compared to denon AVRX1800H ?

    • +2

I have been doing a lot of research into this. The s970 he an additional HDMI out. The X series has better audio room correction.

Most people seem to feel that the extra watts would not be noticeable.

    • +2

it is an inferior lineup, and iirc doesn't have Audyssey XT room calibration

I compared both a while ago, read reviews/opinions, and opted for the 1800h, been perfect so far

I'm glad to hear this as I bought the x1800 today!

You had it cheaper on QLD Day.

I believe you'll find that is in USD and before import taxes. Also, US models are manufactured with a different voltage rating. I'd check before buying US version.

      • Yes, and image if the Denon models were multi-voltage, we could use the US models here for a lot cheaper and also get back the coax digital input and RCA pre outs that were removed especially for the Australian model.
Op, as the Au distributor, do you have some say with Denon, I really hope you convince them that Australians need the connectors on the back panel as much as our US friends, until then I'm sticking with other brands.

Thank you! I'll pass on the feedback.

          • @drezy: Thanks, It's in Denon's interest, people that are looking for these features don't always buy the top Denon model to get it, they will go to other brands where these features are available for the same sort of money as the lower-mid models.
Unfortunately the AVR-X1800H is also gimped in Australia for the same reasons.

The UK models (which use 230V 50Hz like in Australia) the AM and FM bands are exactly the same (Unlike the US and Japan models) - AM is 531-1602KHz with 9Khz spacing and FM is 87.5-108 with 200KHz odd spacing and 50uS de-emphasis, as a bonus, the UK models have DAB radio whereas Australia doesn't so I do wonder if the UK model's DAB would work here since it uses the same frequency band III.

Vastly inferior product, but at 1/8th the price, I have ordered one of these

    https://djcity.com.au/product/fenton-av550bt-5-1-channel-hom…

    It should arrive this evening.

If you want, I will let you know how it is.

Thanks qaz182 I'd be interested to know your verdict!

      • Well I did get it and using it right now.

The biggest issue for me was the fact it's listed as a 5.1 amp but only amplifies the 5 speakers and not the woofer which is a little dishonest.

I've also noticed the volume is weird, you'd think the centre volume knob would be the primary volume switch and be the same as the remote (which is the primary overall volume switch), but it's not. It's the front left and right speaker volume adjuster and there are 2 more (surround sound left/right and centre channel) smaller knobs to the side.

It also does have a cheapish feel to everything. I worry about the longevity it will have.

But at only $107, it was still probably a good deal

  • Surely this model is at the end of it's cycle, it came out in 2021 and Denon typically bring new models out every year or second year, this should be cheaper if trying to clear old stock and it has been had cheaper than this before.

  • Any offers on Polk speakers via Kogan? Possibly beating Amazon's pricing on the XT range of speakers?

    • Hi decryption, just matching their price at this stage.
