  • Good price, bought these from a previously posted deal for around $110 a few weeks ago so kicking myself quietly

  • +2

Fantastic price. I’d highly recommend if you are a power user or multitask heavily; especially when playing games.

It’s pretty easy to go over 16GB utilisation these days.

  • you can get 3200s for >$80. why bother with this set? what's good/advantages?

    • +4

If you are using an AMD Ryzen 3000 or 5000 series CPU matching the RAM speed (3600mhz) to the Infinity Fabric speed (3600mhz) on the CPU will give you a slight performance boost.

    • +8

      This is also >$80…

      • woops, meant <$80, seems standard

    • +3

There is barely 1% performance gain when pairing a Ryzen 5000 series CPU with a 3600 MHz C16 kit over a 3200 MHz C16 kit. With this C18 kit, I don't think there would be any performance gain again at all.

    • The 3200/CL16 kit for $82 is a better buy

It's always easier to boot at lower XMP speeds and then overclock

Unless you're going for an exotic 4000+ setup on Intel, 3200/CL16 and the slightly faster 3600/CL16 are the sweet spots

        • @Bearlion how do you get the $10 off first order? I don't see any info on their website.

        • +1

The $10 discount appears to require a minimum spend of $100, as stated: 'One-time use only and with a minimum spend of $100.'

      • thanks for this, the NAB promo brings it down to $71.

Ive got 2 x 8gb 3600 and am using all the ram. If i could ask, am i better getting the 3200 or go with the 3600.

        Cheers.

    I currently have a G.Skill kit (G.Skill Trident Z Neo 32GB (2x16GB) 3600MHz F4-3600C16D-32GTZNC).

Would adding this Corsair kit to my existing ones work, given they have different timings (C16 vs C18)?

    • +6

I wouldn't recommend to mix different timings and different brands.
Buy two of these kits and sell your current one if you really need 64 Gb.

  • +1

Damn I haven't been in the custom PC game for a long time, last I remember I paid more than a hundred for 8GB x 2 years ago, god damn this is cheap.

    • +1

DDR4 is sort of previous gen now, it's a different story if you are working with a DDR5 system. But yeah this is still great to max out a slightly older system.

      • Oh yep DDR5 has been a thing for a while now. Lol.

  • Finally able to snag this. Been on my list for ages

  • Thanks op

  • +1

I’d probably go for 64gb for twice the price.

  • +2

My kit of this was binned as Micron Rev. E and good for 4200cl16.

  • Don’t know if I need to upgrade for 64 GB of ram memory from 32 GB. Any benefits?

    • You don't need it.

    • Depends entirely on what you're doing with the PC.

  • DANG! $81!!!!

That's cheap, 32GB of RAM in a Mac is $600!! God bless Bill Gates.

  • Currently using a Ryzen 5 2600 with 16GB and RX570.
Would this upgrade give some performance boost?
Mainly using ArchiCAD, Revit, Sketchup and Twinmotion for small to medium projects.

    • +1

If any of those are maxing out your RAM, and rendering gets offloaded to an SSD/Hard Drive (pagefile) then sure, it might help. Just remember Ryzen 1000/2000 series memory controller not quite as strong. May need to settle at 3200 rather than 3600, board/cpu depending

    • +3

Open Task Manager and see how your memory usage is when you've got a heavy workload going.

But I'd say it's cheap enough that there's no harm in just getting it for the sake of an upgrade. Isn't that what a bargain is all about, wasting money to say you saved money?

      • Memory is sitting at just about 50% with no real workload.
You recommend any monitoring apps besides the inbuilt Resource Monitor for Windows?

        • I once searched it a bit and wondering why it used 6GB ram with no real use. And ppl say it's cuz windows has some quick launch or some function that pre load apps or whatever. So when real work begins it will release some of it for the real use.

  • +2

You may want to check the QVL* with your motherboard maker if you're using Ryzen CPU. For exmaple, link to QVL for B550 Aorus Pro v2. If a 8gb kit is on the QVL then I usually assume the 16gb and 32gb versions will work just fine. If your ram is not on the list it just means it wasn't tested.

Pangoly.com - faster way to check compatibility with Amazon Products. example

*"A QVL, or Qualified Vendor List, is provided by motherboard manufacturers and lists memory kits that have been tested to work with a specific motherboard model."

    • Yes and noting that companies cant test for all ram / motherboard combos…I've found that
Ram companys also tend to have QVL for ram to motherboard compatibility.

  • Would be good in the Lenovo LOQ 4050 laptop using Ryzen 5 8645

    • No. It won’t work, laptop are either soldered or sodimm variant, unless you have LPCAMM2 laptop which you probably won’t.

    • +2

Not sure what kind of laptop will accept desktop ram, however. You'd need a hammer and a chisel at a minimum to slam it in.

  • Thanks, bought.

  • Already had 2x16GB 3200 Mhz. Reluctant to buy another set 3600Mhz but the price is good…

    • +1

Actually the 3200Mhz kit on sale as well …

  • I've currently got 32gb of CMK32GX4M2B3200C16 installed, would buying the above CMK32GX4M2E3200C16 be similar enough that it shouldn't cause any issues? Only difference is that B -> E in the code.

  • I just looked at the purchase price of my current RAM bought in 2018… can't believe I paid a whopping $249 for 16GB 3200MHz Gskill Ripjaws!

  • The other SKU (CMK32GX4M2D3600C18) is available for $85.5 from Amazon DE if anyone is still looking.
