The target offer $10 off $50 says that it doesn't apply for already-reduced items. YMV. I'm going to try it later today, so will report results. Thanks for the post, OP!

    • Hi, how can I get $10 off on every $50? Gift card?

    • True, but if you read that thread many people have received the $10 off on already discounted/reduced items. It seems it's a bit hit and miss.

    • +1

As far as I know "Already discounted" just refers to the clearance/purple ticketed items.

  • whats the original site? has anyone successfully picked up an iPad using this yet?

  • I pickup the 16GB wifi black one for $474 after the 5% discount.

    • Didn't you try to get the $10 Santa discount?

  • +17

I got 2 AMEX card, and ING Direct card for 5% cash back.
If I split the payment to 50+50 (AMEX) + 99+99+99+77.05 (ING), it will bring the price down to $405.35.
And if the secret Santa works, it will be $395.35.
And if I travel in a month, it will be $359.41.
But the question is, do I need an IPAD…

You sir (or madam) are a king (or queen) amongst ozbargain

    • -1

for you to win even more if i pay a bargain guru like yourself $450 cash would you do all those for us so you can make some sweet profit and some cc reward points?

    • American Express reserves the right to limit one $25 credit per Cardmember during the promotional period.

    • but splitting the payment would bring it under $300 hence no TRS?

      • +1

total amount still exceeds $300 on a single receipt/transaction

        • Time for me to get another amex!

But for now got ipad 4 down to $400. Happy with that

        • I can confirm you get a total of 10% off the Ipad using this deal (5% off) and staff discount card (5% only). Paid $585.20 for 32GB WiFi model.

    • Loll I like the way u break it down.

    • +1

Um, pardon the ignorance, but are you suggesting going to the counter at Target and convincing them to break up you payment into 5 or 6? Do they even do pay wave?

      • Yes, Target have paywave.

I'm interested to know if they will divide the payment method. Has anyone tried this?

      • They'll happily break the payment up. I did it with gift cards - it's the same for credit-cards.

        • Not quite. Gift cards need to be separate because you're paying the full amount - you can't charge $500 to a $100 gift card.

However, when you're actually using the same credit card they're going to look at it a bit differently.

        • Well I used to work at one and all you are asking to do is a 'split tender' it's just a botton in the computer system where you can elect how much you want to charge from the next tender i.e. credit card, if you say you don't have enough money on one card so you want to use two plus gift cards etc, then there should not be an issue what so ever, unless the person serving you is lazy because it requires a tad more effort and Christmas time is a nightmare at that place! lol

    • Subject to whether the staff allows you to split payments that way.

We are seeing more theory bargains, but whether it turns to reality that's hard to say until it's tried, hard and fast.

Good effort there with ozbargain spirit.

The answer is probably no you don't need an iPad. It encourages impulsive purchases though.

Not a bad thing to boost the economy if the merchant is local lol

I picked up a black 32GB wifi ipad4 and the santa discount worked just fine - thanks OP! Combined it with the AMEX deal on my 1 card (no split) and a few gift cards I had from previous offers.

    • +1

Well done. Thanks for confirming the Santa discount worked.

      • The sales guy reckoned it wouldn't, but it scanned fine.

OWS sales ipad as well, you may get one at $450 after price beat.

  • Wow good deal and with double staff discount on atm that would be 15% off. Think it's time to get an ipad:)

    • Double staff discount? Till when? please elaborate as I have a discount card too….

      • started on thursday and i think finishes on sunday, though could go till 24th like the current coles liquorland double staff discount which goes till 24th

        • As a token of thanks, from Monday 10 December until close of trade on Monday 24 December, team members will receive a 10% discount at all Coles, Bi-Lo, Liquorland and Vintage Cellars stores Australia-wide!

So it wouldn't apply to target :(

        • +1

Yeah ia agree i don't think Target would go till the 24th of dec. If it did im sure it would have been included in the colesforyou email along side the coles liquorland and vintage discounts. I would expect it to end today.

    • Spew it doesn't work out to that… Wasn't 15% off… I got a 16 gb wifi and got the target 5% over the weekend and then my girlfriends 5% on top, so got 10% off… Worked out to roughly $450 and I at least have it in my hands for Christmas.

  • 16GB Wifi are about $440 at shoppingsquare…

    • +3

add $38.95 for delivery does not work out any cheaper

Kogan $469 + $29 delivery, again no cheaper

Why buy from these sellers when you can get local stock cheaper? It's pointless to point out a cheaper price and not take into account their shipping costs. Many online stores advertise this at sub $450 but they charge an arm and a leg for postage.

  • Best deal on non-16GB wifi? not this deal.

Try Kogan or Shopping Square … still trying to find a winning deal on the 32GB

  • Target allows you to split the payment by any times and any method.

  • I got 32Gb Black Wifi version , only 5%off applied , " santa discount" did not count

      • +1

I asked about " Santa Discount " but was refused .5% off is ok . Let them earn something to pay their staffs ;-)

  • IPad 4 is pretty awesome for some stuff. I just think it's hilarious that ipad mini is excluded. IPad 4 that I have seen rated five stars versus do not buy for ipad mini.

  • Anyone tried to get Myer to price match yet? I have gift cards to use, will try today, hopefully I get a "can do" staff member and they have stock…

    • yeah i tried. they wont match any price below $498. they say $474 is below their cost price.

i'm not sure if you can stack the myer staff discount after the price match. If you can, you may be able to get an additional 10% off after the price match to $498, bringing the price down to $448

  • Officeworks also now have iPads just for your information :)

    • Officeworks only sell iPads online so the pricing is not competitive anymore. I don't think geor lowest price guarantee applies to online items either

  • Did anyone manage to get the 15% OFF With Staff card???

      • Thanks I had the same problem only got 10% am a bit annoyed at target, why give us 10% staff if it only worked on some things…grrr

        • Target had 10% off for staff for the weekend, nowhere on the flyer at work did it say was only some things..Yes Coles at the moment have 10% off till xmas.

  • Pink scarf, price matching is also for online orders at Officeworks, you'll need to speak to business dirrect for that over the phone, if it's a problem, have the item delivered for store pick and a team member staff can price match the correct amount, providing proof of where you are price-matching, and they"ll refund the correct value to you. Cheers.

  • lol they probably make zilch profit on this then. I'm pretty sure most stores look at about 3% on apple products
