It's probably worth price matching and beating at Officeworks instead but this is what you would be matching to.

Negatives of this thing is:

  1. The headband has a tendency to snap if you are rough with it
  2. The USB transmitter can overheat and disconnect depending on where you plug the transmitter
  3. The microphone has heavy noise cancelling, it works well and you sound natural even in very noisy situations but if you scream into it you will cause it to duck your voice

Positives:

  1. Simultaneous bluetooth and 2.4 GHz
  2. Planar magnetic drivers so they sound relatively good

    Officeworks don’t sell it!

  • a tendency to snap if you are rough with it

    things* tend to when manhandled

    • From a lot of reports online they will snap even if you aren't rough with them, they're just very cheaply constructed. Add on top of this the issue with them constantly disconnecting, not a very worthwhile product.

  • Disconnecting issues are a big one as this issue doesn’t seemed to be fixed

It uses a USB A dongle so you will need to plug it in the back of a PS5 Slim / PRO if you don’t use an adapter for the front.

I want to get a set but the disconnecting issue really worries me as it’s mention everywhere and apparently still not fixed

I think I might go with a set of SteelSeries Arctis Nova 5X for my PS5 PRO

    • Yeah there’s a pair of white 5X’s on amazon for $171 I’ve been eyeing off. The international delivery thing is annoying though - 6 December estimate. I ordered some on prime day and ended up cancelling 3 weeks later as there was no movement and I got the shits.

  • Is this anything special?

  • Never had an issue with it disconnecting, but the vynil is peeling off on my ears after 2 years. Whther there is any truth to the 3d audio, i am not convinced. I noticed games dont seem to have 3d headset options anymore.

    • but the vynil is peeling off on my ears after 2 years

Are you referring to the Pulse 3D? The Pulse Elite were released this year.

FWIW, I’ve had zero disconnection issues with mine. Adapter is in the rear of the console, with the console on top of an entertainment unit (not inside it) in a horizontal position.

      • Strange soo many people are complaint about this disconnection issue

I’d love to get a set but it’s very off putting to be honest

So you find the build quality bad? People and the poster mentioned that they break easy. I take care off my stuff but just wondering

        • I don’t have any complaints on the build quality thus far. Only had them a few months but. Can’t say I’ve tested flexing them or anything but.

For the disconnection issues, I believe those with it can use a USB extension cable of a few feet to allow line of sight to the adapter. That’s if you have issues at all.

    • The Sony Pulse Elite Wireless Headset was released on February 21, 2024.

    • I think you are mistaken for the OG Pulse headset. This one was released in Feb this year.

    • I've got the OG pulse 3D and never had connection issues. Very strange to hear this about the pulse elite.

  • Any advantage of this over a wired connection to the controller if an extra cable is not an issue?

I've got the pulse 3D. I was a big fan of wired connection for a long time but eventually made the switch. It is just cords. Cords break, Gaming headsets often come with longer than normal cables that get in the way a bit,

These don't have additional playstation physical controls which is a bit of a miss I think. On the pulse 3D I like having the voice mix volume buttons in addition to overall volume button.

The downside of wireless is keeping it charged.

I was very interested in the inzone h9 and this cause of the Bluetooth double function. There isn't a massive amount of gaming headsets which also do Bluetooth and liked the idea of trying to get it to all my wireless headphone needs. The advantage of inzone h9 is you also get anc (noise cancelling) which is another feature I think you'd struggle to see on a wired set (would need a power supply cable or battery which would be strange).

      • The downside of wireless is keeping it charged.

The Elites ship with a headphone holder that can charge the headphones via pins that are on the headstrap. If you’re prepared to drill into something to secure the headphone holder, then charging becomes pretty much a non event.

I did try some hardcore 3M tape but never had much success using that to keep the holder in place. Wasn’t much contact surface and it’d eventually give. Ended up screwing it into the side of a cabinet and it’s been fine since.

How useful that holder is will be subject to ones willingness to affix it to something. It’s a good option to remove the need to think about plugging in a USB cable every other session.

Ohhh should mention the pro with cords I feel is even cheap sets, I think the microphone sounds better. I don't really get it why these headphones make such a massive deal about their noise cancelling for microphones. It must be you need noise cancelling more when the quality is low and sound compressed, cause wired sets always sound crystal clear to me.
