    Bargain price.

My problem with these types of studio monitors is having to run 2 power cords to power them especially when on a desk and one side is nowhere near the power outlet.

You can get a dual IEC cable like this. You can also get a triple cable if you have a sub.

  • Great value even at $300

  • Cheers! I only have RCA out but picked up KRK classic 5 inch pair for $259 https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/326111089231?_skw=krk&itmmeta=01…

What are these like 5 minute ebay deals?

    • Ebay randomly killed the BFRI30 code just 10 minutes after I posted this deal.

  • Bought a pair from Marketplace for $260, unbox one. Then I bought special cable, foam stand, $20 7th hand mbox music interface as per all the recommendations online. Then, they did NOT amaze me….

What were you expecting them to sound like? Studio monitors are meant to be more accurate rather than punchy and "fun". They'll also be missing the bottom end as they're meant to be paired with a subwoofer if you want lows.

      • I am not expecting fun, I know they are known for accuracy, which I prefer. But the sound quality is just not much better than those fun ones. Sorry I cannot really describe well lol.

        • OK that's fair then, I suppose there's a good reason why some studio monitors cost $230 a pair while others $2,300 each. :)

The holy grail of speaker design is to get a flat response curve over the frequency range a speaker covers. In practice that means the sound you put in is the sound you get out, no colouration from the speaker. Studio monitors are designed with the same goal. Achieving that costs a lot of money so REAL studio monitors you find in real studios are very expensive (thousands). Speakers that are labelled as monitors but cost 100, 200 or even 500 dollars are just regular cheap speakers being called monitors.

Sorry champ, I know you're desperately trying to rationalize your expensive investments, but these monitors have been extensively measured with proper equipment, and that says a lot more than your coping ever will.

      • but these monitors have been extensively measured with proper equipment,

More expensive studio monitors have also been extensively measured. e.g. this.

and that says a lot more than your coping ever will.

Not sure what OP did to you but you seem overly protective of a speaker.

So? What's your point squirt? You're citing ASR, but Amir gave a glowing endorsement of the LSR305P, so what's your point? At $230 these speakers are a bargain.

          • @Riceplate:

            So? What's your point squirt?

Calm down, these are only speakers, there is no need to get all worked up and resort to childish insults.

At $230 these speakers are a bargain.

Yes they are. But your rant above gives the impression that you believe these $230 speakers sound just as good as more expensive studio monitors because they "have been extensively measured with proper equipment".

@eug: That's just failing comprehension on your end. I was simply disputing the laughable notion that flat response can only be achieved by spending a fortune. Yes, I scoff at anyone foolish to believe such a thing, including you and your attempts to be more discreet about it.

Once again, the LSR305Ps are fine monitors and they are indeed flat.

There's flat and there's flat. These are clearly perfectly suited to you and that's great. Just bear in mind not everybody has the same standards as you - some people have higher standards, others have lower.
