  • Is this the one where you can hook up the case to IFE on planes?

    • +5

Yes, the 3.5mm connects to the case and it becomes wireless. This was the selling point for me as I can plug it into my guitar and have some fun while others are sleeping.

      • +2

Some of the LG Tone units do this too.

        • I've had 2 pairs of LG buds, bought them mainly because of the ability to plug into 3.5mm for traveling. But the LG buds quality are pretty bad. Been looking for alternative. Hopefully these JBLs are better

I had a neckband which I loved but it broke and they don't make it anymore. I got these for a few reasons but fully regret it. The sound isn't bad, the mic is sht for meetings. The case is nice to make almost anything wireless but it doesn't stay in my ears. Its really #%×>@ annoying and I can't take these back to JB hifi. I would rather get the Boss earbuds. Once this special is over i will be posting it for sale on a forum. Oh, and I paid $399 for them.. well I'm claiming it from work but still. Geading to JB today to get their rediced price of $320. Wonder if they would price match this and then refund everything lol

    • Bose doesn't do anything spectacularly well compared to JBL. Might be slightly better noise canceling. Regarding meetings, it could be the computer that is screwing up than the earbuds. These should be perfectly fine for meetings

      • I think the youtube video review by dhrme mentioned about faulty mic as one of the 2 sets they received had pretty bad mic. On thr good set, the mic performance was actually better than bose qc ultra earbuds in both quiet and noisy environment.

Have a look at the video, maybe @RenVilo had a faulty unit. I would be chasing up JBL for warranty claim if it was indeed faulty mic.

      • The mic isn't faulty, its just not good quality. Keep in mind I'm comparing this to a neckband that had a mic on each side. I work from home 99% of the time and my job is basically meetings now so I need a mic that's good, not just ok. Its acceptable for me to use on the train or when I walk but I would have expected much higher quality. But I eliminated this issue by buying a Fifine mic. Got one for my kid and its amazing mic's and $100 so don't care about it.

Bigger problem for me on these are the way it fits. Its very touch and go. I've had it a couple of times now where if I press it on a special angle it will fit nice, but once I start speaking my jaw moves and it starts moving out. It doesn't really fall out completely, but enough to be very annoying. This is where I think the Boss would be a better fit due to the "wings" they have to press on the ear.

        • +1

Yeah if fit is an issue then your options before getting bose are trying different ear tips (something like azla sedna or latex type) or wing tips (not sure if these will fit https://www.amazon.com.au/Stabilizers-Earhooks-BlueBuds-Wire…)

          • @Redsin: Awesome, didn't know you can get these. Ordering some now :)

            • @RenVilo: Let us know your feedback please.

              • @Redsin: Will do. Getting it delivered tomorrow. Just hoping the case will still close and its not going to be a mission

                • @RenVilo: Fingers crossed 🤞

                  • @Redsin: So got it today, and it would have been awesome if I could put them on and use them. The fit is amazing but you can't put it into the case. There's no space for them when you put it int he case to charge the earbuds.

                    • +1

@RenVilo: If fitting in the case for charging is a dealbreaker (would be for me!), I think your best bet is trying different tips for fit.

I just bought a bunch of tips for my Denon Perl Pro (notorious for finicky fitment), and found Divinus Velvet (wide bore) to be best fit for me. Others like aforemention Azla Sednaearfit are meant to be great for fit (I havent tried those).

If you're really struggling with fit, foam tips probably most likely to work - but consumable.

(I also tried various Spinfit tips - CP360, CP1025, Omni. Each of which work better or worse one different TWS for me.)

                    • @RenVilo: Well if it cant fit into the case then it will be a hassle to put it on and take it off all the time. So as @caprimulgus posted below, try tip rolling, (ie different tips) as some would definitely give you better fit as they grip better to your ear canal. Also since they give you better fit, it will give you better passive isolation and improve noise cancelling as well.

Azla sednaearfit standard or asmr should work well as with others. I have feaulle latex h570 that i use for iem so i will give it a go once i get mine. Also with tips your left and right ear might require different sizes.

  • What is the obsession with adding a screen to everything, your earbuds charging case does not need it, it's just another thing that does not add value, shortens it's life span and increases the cost.

    • Don't really need a screen, but would love a battery percentage indicator on the earbuds!

    • +5

From what I understand it, the case is a transmitter, and supports Aurcast (new bluetooth codec that allows broad transnission to many receivers, like a radio station). And the screen is needed for connecting / setting Auracast settings (etc).

I think this was a legitimate complaint about the previous generation, which didnt have Auracast and didn't really need a screen…but this one with Auracast functionality has actually justified the inclusion of the screen.

(Just going by what I read about them, never used them myself. )

      • Yes, someone in reddit has posted that you can use the case as an auracast transmitter, he did a test to transmit audio from youtube to a jbl tour m2 headphone in auracast mode.

This earbud seems to be very underrated, a number of redditors and members on head-fi have praised the SQ and ANC of the JBL TP3.

Waiting for mine to be delivered, will see how it fares compared to with APP2, Jabra Elite 10 Gen 2 and lower end iem.

  • RIP just bought for $295 at a tax-free jbhifi

  • Quick research suggests these are great. I've currently got a Samsung S23+, but will likely get the next Pixel. Any reason to consider the Pixel Buds 2 Pro over these?

    • No Pixel buds pro 2 will be inferior to JBL TP3 in all aspects apart from size.

      • Cheers, I bought the TP3 this evening. I got JB to price match, and used 10% off cards from Coles. $255 out of pocket.

        • Awesome. Let us know your thoughts on thr TP3.

          Patiently waiting for mine :)

          • @Redsin: Returned to Amazon after a few days. Had issue with left bud using battery quicker and also fit issue with right bud despite using the largest XL tip. The in ear sensor is too sensitive and even slight movement of the jaw will stop the music which is very annoying. Sound wise is pretty good though. What a shame. Looking forward to receiving the Xiaomi buds 5 pro wifi version.

Just went to JB Hifi, bought this on 3 Feb for $399, they price matched JBL's website.

  • Thanks OP. The latte colour seems to be back ordered with expected delivery in Jul 2025! Who is going to wait for another 5 months!

Anyway Amazon has a preorder for the same price for black colour and 329 for latte. Delivery expected 1 March.

Preordered with Amazon as returns are more straightforward.
