Im interested to know how you use them
Simple. just need to put in on your face
These sunglasses can take pictures, record videos, play music, answer calls, and let you interact with Meta AI to ask questions. For example, you can look at a sign in another language and say, "Hey Meta, what does this sign say in English?" The device will translate and read it aloud for you.
It works similarly to the Rabbit R1 AI device and can be incredibly useful if used effectively. However, if you don't take advantage of its features, it may just feel like an overpriced pair of sunglasses with unnecessary tech.
Comparing it to that Rabbit thing I see as a negative
Can they be used without a FB or Meta account? In other words, do they need "activating" before they work?
I want to use only for recording video to the SD card, completely offline.
Edit: apparently it's not possible, and further more: "you need the Meta app to install, activate, and re-authorize the glasses every 28 days"… LOL that's so lame. Needing to "check in" every month, like reporting to the divine leader.
What else did you expect from Meta lol
Is this a new version that just been released?
Correct
Perfect! These will be great for filming all my kindness content this holiday season. So excited to exploit help vulnerable people.
I have the transition pair so i use them alot for work so i can still write emails, do teams meetings etc. without holding the phone or using buds. It's way comfier as you have nothing in your ears and the sound is very clear. The mic is also really clear for the person on the other end of the calls/meeting. I also use them for happy snaps and videos while on holidays in the situations where you don't have time or can't get to your phone to record. The AI in the glasses work like an assistant as well which is incredibly handy at times when you need to know an answer on something, weather etc. on the fly.
I suppose you can't use it in a dark environment?
Lowlight video recording work relatively well but pitch black i'm unsure sorry.
How's the battery life on them?
Depends on how much you use the functions. But on/off phone calls and the odd video recording i'll get about 5 hours. They charge straight away when you put them back in the case, and relatively quickly. You get i think 7 charges from the case before you have to charge the case again, the case takes USB-C.
I'm sure that you are referring to multifocal or progressive lenses instead of "transition".
You can get them with prescription lenses but i just have the transitions ones - https://www.ray-ban.com/australia/electronics/RW4006ray-ban%…
How good is the transition? I looked at transition lenses a long time (10+yr) ago and they just didn't get very max dark and didn't really do as advertised. But rather stayed not quite clear 90% of the time. How are they nowadays?
I was a bit disappointed with my prescription transition lenses. They work well for the sun blocking factor, but fashion wise they don't seem to go all that dark. You can still see my eyes through them.
I got the green transitions, though I read after my purchase that the brown might be darker.
Now I’m waiting for amazon to give me a sale on the quest 3. :)
Enjoy, perverts!
DIY POV movies
those ones?
Besides being a pervert at nudist beaches, what exactly are these for?
being a pervert at clothed beaches
can you claim private insurance with this?
Yes you can get a prescription pair from certain optometrists that sell Ray-Ban. You should be able to claim part of the price on your private insurance if your health fund has that option.
$450 just the for the prescription lenses apparently :(
Wondering if I should wait for the next model 🤔
is there a new model coming soon?
Looks like they are only a year old and they are releasing new features (including an update in Sept), so I guess not yet
I've noticed they have updates about every two months with new features being added most of the time.
The other style G15 green is cheaper, but can't find out if they're polarized as well or not.
I'm not sure if the G-15 is, but this model does - https://www.ray-ban.com/australia/electronics/RW4006ray-ban%…
Imagine paying for the privilege of gathering data for the Zuck so he can train his Ai … Zuck thanks you for your service!
They will be giving these away for free in time no doubt.
I’ve been using this as my main glasses and have been loving it. I mostly use it to listen to music or podcasts while working.
Camera wise only use it to record moments with my daughter; like when you pick them up at childcare and they run towards you, or recording them while on the swings. Really good quality as well.
I reckon for retail workers that are not allowed to work with airpods should buy these to listen to music while working

Edit: Nope, not associated Mod Edit: Removed association.
For those who do make a lot of calls, this is the one. Better than any AirPods or even the very capable Shokz OpenComm and its boom mic.
Incredible microphone pickup and background noise cancelling on these so your voice comes across clear to the other person.
Can get same 20% discount on the Ray-Ban website, plus an additional 12% cashback through ShopBack! Ends in 6days
Just recently bought it from Myer online and they had 17% off from shopback too. It has luckily been tracked so that’s an additional $60 off.
I wish Amazon had all the options. No options for the Headliner low bridge fit transition glass model.
these does not comes with polarized lens right?
They are polarized.
You can find more details on the meta website - https://www.meta.com/au/smart-glasses/wayfarer-matte-black-g…
Get a size larger than your usual. The legs are thick, so they press against the sides of your face. If you normally wear an M in Ray-Ban, go for a Large. Alternatively, Ray-Ban offers a 15-day money-back guarantee, so you can try them out and return them for a larger size if needed.
These sunglasses don’t just take pictures, record videos, and play music—they also function like the Rabbit R1 AI device. You can ask questions about what you’re seeing or about anything else. The device continues to improve, and I hope it will soon include real-time navigation with voice guidance.
Should have read this before buying. The M is too tight for me. Was banking on the easy returns policy they advertised on their website but forgot to factor in the fact that they don't have an exchange policy only refund which means if I return I would have to re order large size at full price. Literally weeping right now.
I think I read they extended the refund policy for the holiday period too.
I see a different colour at a cheaper price (but lower RRP). https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0CGXX2HG5?th=1
Is this different one in terms of its functionality or just different in terms of colour/finish?
yeah different colour/finish. I tried them yesterday at sunglasses hut store and didn't like this version.
Wanted the low bridge version but only left Green glass :/
same price on rayban website.
Started looking into these yesterday, must be a sign to grab a pair!
Hope the AI detects toilets, changing rooms, etc. and disables taking photos and video
You watch people shit?
I'm not a fan of people installing surveillance everywhere and uploading pictures of me onto the internet, and I'm also not a fan of shoehorning AI into everything and processing pictures of me with AI or forcing me to use it. I want to be able to opt out of both of these.
Gonna get these for Japan, super keen. Yello has 20% off full priced items over $125 at The Iconic, but with the recent amazon gift card purchase, this is a no brainer.
Just bought a pair of these with prescription transition lenses a few weeks ago.
I love them. I use them in place of earphones whenever cleaning the house, doing chores, working on the car, etc.
The first person video is fun and gives a pretty unique field of view you otherwise wouldn't capture with a smartphone. But it's pretty limited due to the extreme wide angle - like a GoPro strapped to your face.
I've found it very handy when I'm driving for reading out text messages and writing simple replies as well.
I typically don't wear them for social events, nor work, for obvious reasons. They have a bright LED that lights up to inform people you are recording, which helps with the creep factor.
Though I still haven't found a use for the AI feature. I'll look at something, like say, a car and ask "Hey Meta, what am I looking at?" - it will reply "You are looking at a car". "Thanks Meta"
Hi, can you elaborate the process of getting prescription lenses ? I'm still confused reading on the Internet.
So I just buy the glasses , and bring it to an official retailer to change to prescription ?
you can order prescription lenses when you are buying the glasses itself. If you want the rayban prescription glasses then Opsm can do it or any third party retailers like optically. I can’t find transitive lens options at OPSM hence ordered directly from Rayban.
How's the inbuilt stabilisation software on these? The Oho ones (at least the cheaper variation) on Amazon have massive camera shake when walking.
Hows the weight of these and strain on your ears when wearing for a period of time for working?
I have a set with my script. They are great for walking. Taking video at concert and just talking on the phone.
Just don't be a creep. Normal morals to live your life by right
How's the speaker? Does it use similar tech like in the bone conducting headphones?
No it actually has a speaker that sits just above your ear it's not bad . Certainly not as good as bone conduction. However great for being able to hear the world and your music or podcast.
Worst experience is on a plane, not a good headphone Replacement on such a noisey environment. Outside of that pretty happy with it. They do have a little weight but I was expecting such things.
I would refuse to talk to anyone wearing these. It'd be like someone holding up their phone to record you non-stop. No thanks.
This definitely falls into the 'something I never thought I needed or wanted, but tempted by Ozbargain' category for me!!!
Myer, Sunglass hut and OPSM all have the same discounts at the moment
359 at Myer. Got the transition version, they ran out of stock in store. Ordered online at the store. $431.20 for the transition lenses
I have a pair and rate these! They won't be for everyone but for me it was money well spent.
