The End of Real Debrid + Stremio Streaming Solution?

Real Debrid has just announced the following notice below. Is this the end of Real Debrid + Stremio as we know it?

There are others like All Debrid, Premiumize but not sure how well they are compared to RB

Following a formal notice from the FNEF (https://fnef.fr/les-adherents/), Real-Debrid is strengthening its anti-piracy measures.

As you already know, we actively comply with DMCA and are already blocking a certain number of infringing torrents.

In the coming hours:

  • audiovisual files available on a number of cyberlockers listed on the USTR blacklist or listed in the European "CCounterfeit and Piracy Watch List" will all be blocked.
  • a filtering by file name will also be applied, in accordance with the request of the FNEF, this may unfortunately lead to false positives that we will process manually.
  • a blocking of all torrents hashes of private torrent trackers mentioned in cases at the Paris judicial court
  • a complete purge of files potentially cached on the previously mentioned criteria
  • the deactivation of the API endpoint /instantAvaibility
  • a blocking of counterfeit Kodi / Stremio applications to the extent that they are identifiable

      Is this true? They had already applied anti piracy filters on torrents but workarounds by devs of Kodi/Stremio addons made it work again. The next step would have been for them to purge all DMCA cached files and it would be over for RD. Unless they moved servers and won't delete cached files, is this confirmed?

        I just finished watching Joker 2.

        Wasn't aware anything was wrong with RD. Worked flawlessly.

          There have been changes due to formal notice and DMCA as OP information and the devs for numerous addons have already applied temporary workarounds to some of those changes (didn't work for awhile yesterday)

          Right now seems like they haven't purged any cached files which they said they will do, if that happens you should notice

          Same here. Been watching content through stremio for the past 3 days without issue.
          Had no idea of the drama unfolding until I saw a reddit thread an hour ago about it.

          Yeah the community have found out they purged only from some trackers from France and only some DMCAed content.

          And everything else is solved by using DMM.

          Nah i actually subbed 6 months extra couple days before and it was still working for me, was just downloading 500gbs of Roms using debrid in preparation for my Retroid Pocket 5 the past few days 😅

          But looks like they didn't move servers, they just complied to the government notice.

    I bought 6 months worth yesterday before I saw the news and my revolut account just notified me of a refund from real-debreid even though I didn't request one yet.
    This happen to anyone else?

    Considering RD still has alot (due to https://github.com/TheBeastLT/torrentio-scraper/issues/305 (which I don't think has been explicitly linked here)), but y'all are running multiple for the time being, could be a bit funky groovy for ya :)

    An FAQ by the Debrid Media Manager dev about the recent changes at RD

    Basically, DMM has evolved to have its own database of what is cached on RD. Others may follow. There’s really no need to panic and ditch RD just yet.

    Torrentio is also maintaining its own database of what is cached on RD

    As a naive approach to still have some indication of what's instantly streamable, Torrentio will maintain it's own short term cache of entries which were added to RD through Torrentio and were fully downloaded.

        I just tried a few random episodes from season one and two and everything played flawlessly.

        Hopefully it'll stay this way.

        That being said, Paramount Plus currently has a half price sale on their subscriptions, it works out around $5 a month for their top teir plan which is around the same price as the monthly fee for Real Debrid.

        Might be worth considering if RD goes down completely m

        I believe, copyright infringement check is implemented at file hash. So yeah 4k did not work, but 1080p worked. In their announcement, they did mention that they will be implementing hash level and file name based checks. So I am sure people will find a way around. Panic is not needed just yet.

    It's back working fine for me. Only had 5 days subscription so purchased another 3 months.
    Apparently those who got refunds can't re subscribe atm.

    Oh FFS. Been using this for a few months and it's been great. Still have 4 months left on my sub.

      I can confirm that season two is still available but whenever I attempted to play an episode of season one I am greeted with the following:

      "Torrent is being downloaded to Debrid…"

      What does this mean?

        Exactly that’s. It’s not in the cache, it needs to be downloaded. If the seeds are low then it can take quite some time.

        You should be able to log in to the rd website and see the speed and percentage.

    If anyone is interested, there has been an update of "DMM Cast" Stremio add-on. At the moment it only supports Real-Debrid but there are plans to support others.

    Any movies or series that haven't been working for you because of takedowns should now work.

        The add-on takes note of when a RD Download link is clicked. If it’s available for streaming practically straight away then it is added to a database of cached links.

    Has anyone else noticed that quite a few files have been removed from Rd?

    On many files I get a green screen telling me that the file is being downloaded to Real Debrid.

    My current subscription runs out early January, if this continues or gets worse I probably won't re-subscribe.

        When you select a show, most will give you difference RD+ torrent source, like lioness S1E1, the first one was blocked but the others are fine.

      It seems to be working okay for me at this stage but if it fails or completely disappears, it's always possible to use Stremio and Pirate Bay as an add-on.

      It's not as fast as Real Debrid but it is totally free.

      As I'm subscribed to Max, Prime Video and Apple TV I tend to use Stremio as an option for the odd content that I can't obtain from the services that I already pay for.

      I renewed for another month and then used points for a second month.

      I haven’t had an issue with RD since the announcement.

      If it continues to work I’ll go back to 6 month subs.

        My only problem is that I might need a new streaming device as my Firestick 4K Max struggles with large files especially Dolby Digital.

          My Firestick 4K Max also sucks with large files.
          I'm interested in an Nvidia Shield TV Pro, but a cheaper alternative is the new Google Streamer 4K. The specs look pretty good.

            @poisongodmachine: As I have cheap subscriptions to Prime Video, Apple TV and HBO Max, I'm going to take a break from Real Debrid until I get myself a more reliable streaming device.

            I might use Stremio with the Pirate Bay add-on for the odd content that I can't get from the above subscriptions.

            Stremio is too unreliable with large files on my Firestick and it's not worth the cost of a new media device.

              @Gigrantor: I have a firstick 4k max and it plays almost everything I throw at it. the only ones that struggle are some of the 80gb+ 4k Bluray Remux.

              nonetheless even the 40-50gb stuff are heaps better than Netflix and prime and I always get high quality no random low res mess.

                @OpayuOnam: My firestick has problems with just about every file above 30gb and also has trouble playing 4K with Dolby Vision as well as constant buffering.

                All of my lefit subscriptions play flawlessly.

                I might consider getting the new Google Streaming Box when it goes on sale but only if it can play everything I throw at it.

                  @Gigrantor: Are you sure it's not a router/wifi issue?
                  As I said I only have issues with a handful of very large files on my 4k max.

                  be sure to turn off "auto update" for apps in the fire stick as that background update can slow things up.

    Also, is it possble to get a different Debrid service such as Premiumize and use it at the same time as real-debrid?
