The End of Real Debrid + Stremio Streaming Solution?

Real Debrid has just announced the following notice below. Is this the end of Real Debrid + Stremio as we know it?

There are others like All Debrid, Premiumize but not sure how well they are compared to RB

https://x.com/realdebrid/status/1859673163681960169?s=46&t=v…

Following a formal notice from the FNEF (https://fnef.fr/les-adherents/), Real-Debrid is strengthening its anti-piracy measures.

As you already know, we actively comply with DMCA and are already blocking a certain number of infringing torrents.

In the coming hours:

  • audiovisual files available on a number of cyberlockers listed on the USTR blacklist or listed in the European "CCounterfeit and Piracy Watch List" will all be blocked.
  • a filtering by file name will also be applied, in accordance with the request of the FNEF, this may unfortunately lead to false positives that we will process manually.
  • a blocking of all torrents hashes of private torrent trackers mentioned in cases at the Paris judicial court
  • a complete purge of files potentially cached on the previously mentioned criteria
  • the deactivation of the API endpoint /instantAvaibility
  • a blocking of counterfeit Kodi / Stremio applications to the extent that they are identifiable

    oh ffs.
Can't they set up in a country that is outside the reach of these parasites?

    Discussion here: https://www.reddit.com/r/RealDebrid/comments/1gwnd3a/end_is_…

      • +8

Don't mind paying if I can get a refund if the product isn't as advertised.

      • +3

or you know, allow consumers to own products they actually buy.

  • +19

Surely they must have had a plan b in event of this

    RD: yes - dies

  • +2

Lucky I didn't kill off my Plex server…
    See how this plays out.

    • -5

At some point they'll come after Plex. Jellyfin will be the last stand.

      • +12

They won't do anything to Plex. There isn't anything illegal about it. The way some end users utilise the software is not on them.

          • +11

@miwahni: Napster was also helping the distribution as well.

If you notice its mainly the distribution that gets attacked.

  • +52

Knew this day would come, it had just gotten too popular

As someone on reddit commented 'When you hear your computer illiterate uncle talking about it at family gatherings, its gotten too big'

    • +1

I think that comment just about sums it up perfectly….

  • +8

Noooooooooo, I just renewed it for another 180 days just yesterday.

    • me too but last week lol

    • Get a refund

      • -1

I literally signed up for the first time yesterday. Does RD actually have a way to request a refund or just charge back through card?

        • +1

loads of people on Reddit have requested refunds with no issues through CS

  • -2

17 days left. not much time wasted.
This just makes me glad I keep adding to my Plex server instead of just streaming

  • So from further reading a lot of folk are just going to wait and see what actually happens. I have found another decent looking (so far) alternative JIC RD does go down.

    • What is the alternative?

      • I was thinking torbox at this stage.

  • +2

There are alternatives like Premiumize, Torbox etc but I haven't tried any of them. Can anyone recommend an alternative that they've personally used?

    • +1

I'm currently testing out torbox and it seems good. some people on reddit suggest that premiumize is better (more cached content), but its also 3-4x more costly than torbox.

      • Is Torbox equivalent of RD and can be used with Stremio?

      • I just checked both & for a 12month plan with fees included
        - Torbox $83.28US - $128 AUD
        - Premiumize $70EUR - $113 AUD

        • +3

Wow. torbox is expensive in comparision to RD

          • @Aap Ke Papa: Thats the more expensive tier. The cheapest plan is much cheaper. But torbox doesn't work well at all for now.

        • What a rip.

          Family cinema is cheaper $64US

        • It's cheaper than RD if you need simultaneous streams.

Also, that's the most expensive plan? Great comparison buddy

          • @TheFreaK: People don't even read the pricing plans lol. They just assume you need the most expensive. Pretty sure with torbox the cheapest will be fine for most basic users.

    • I'm finding totbox absolute garbage. Very few sources and most of them not working. Not sure if it's because I'm on free trial but it doesn't look promising.
Looking at alldebrid or premiumize next.

      • Just wait. They've had a massive influx of users due to the RD news. They bought more servers that'll be active on Monday. I recommend checking out the official discord, devs are super active.

      • Free trial does not have the streaming option.

        • It says 10 downloads per month?
But anyway, the amount of cached content is very disappointing.

          • @liongalahad: Yes you can download through their site, but the trial didn't allow streaming.

      AllDebrid

      • I have this. It’s slightly worse than Real debrid but hopefully stays up.

        • alldebrid is based in France too so unfortunately it's only a matter of time for them as well if they get popular.

  • I'm considering whether to try Torbox, or switch to Usenet and try Easynews…

    • +3

Torbox is great, but since this morning they have been getting slammed (naturally) thanks to the reddit forums so give it a couple days. I can vouch it works for me pretty consistently

      • +2

I ended up giving Easynews a try ($1.99 per month for the first year) and it seems to be alright as a backup - slower to load content, but once it does it runs well.

I've got a soft spot for Torbox though so tempted to grab a subscription for them too!

    • Torbox will be the next go to once it gets back on its feet

  • +2

Premiumize or AllDebrid. Premiumize is currently running their annual Black Friday sale. AllDebrid is a lot cheaper even at regular pricing and also normally have a Christmas sale, but they're also based in France.

    • +2

Alldebrid is also in Fance so buyer beware.

      • Premiumize also in Europe.

        • Pretty sure Premiumize is based in Malaysia

    • Torbox

  • 65 days left 😩

    • 159 days left :(

Been using Stremio + RD + Torbox for over a year now. RD was the GOAT of debris services, but TB is by far the second best choice

If you plan on jumping on TB, do it now whilst it is on sale but remember the following
    - most people are going to jump ship from RD over the next few days, so TB servers are going to be absolutely slammed! If it doesn't work, trust the process and wait a few days once TB settles down from the mass overflow currently happening

TB doest have the most cached content, and I cant even find if they have AUS servers but I have found it good over the last few months

    • +2

"TB doest have the most cached content"
This makes it absolute garbage for me, at least for now

      • This is one thing I’ve struggled to understand about debrid services. If they don’t cache content, what do they do that’s effectively different from a standard P2P torrent?

        • That do cache content. But the number of people using them heavily affects the amount of continuously cached content. RD was great as almost everything was cached all the time. TR is currently garbage and pretty much useless.

  • torrenting feature is still usable until RD figures out a solution

  • 105 days left, it worked yesterday but sadly not any more.

  • It's still working for me. Am I missing something?

    • +4

The torrentio developer has modified the add-on and it works again. But it's a temporary fix, as RD is planning to remove all copyrighted cached content.

  • Moving too

https://www.premiumize.me/help/article/device-limit - ‘parallel use is also possible and permitted’

    It not very clear

  • +1

    Lol, got 5 months left.

Surely RD will comply temporarily, while migrating operations to some other less policed location such as Laos.

Compliance shuts down their gravy train

  • i just checked my membership and i got 128 days left and 600 points. also i just opened up the app to select a movie gladiator from start 70gb played in 5 secs no issues, anyone else having problems? no problems here so far

    • It will work for now but soon it will be gone

  • can someone who is a pro make a table comparing Premiumize to All Debrid to Torbox?

  • +1

I got my partial refund from RD this morning (expires in Mar 2025). Just be polite.

  • Oh no! 😯

  • Just got 12 euros refunded. Took like 5 mins

    • I was surprised how quick RD are processing refunds. I got a response 45 seconds after sending my request through.

      • How did you apply for a refund, and what did you say? Thanks!

        • +2

          Support ticket

          Copy paste this

Could you please give me a refund for the unused portion of the XXX days that i have paid upfront?

Thank you. I hope to be a customer again in the future!

just did a bit of digging on reddit, someone did a complete comparison, bottom line is alldebrid is the best atm, wait till monday till torbox upgrades systems than someone will do another comparison, here are the results:

Comparison of RD Alternatives on Stremio
I have or just obtained a subscription to Alldebrid, Easynews, Premiumize, and Torbox.

I tested all of these in Stremio via the following addons:

    Alldebrid: Torrentio

    Easynews: Easynews and Easynews+

    Premiumize: Torrentio addon

    Torbox: Torbox addon

I was mainly interested in seeing whether for the content that I have been watching lately - mainly TV shows and anime:

    Are there cached links?

Are the cached links for high quality large files? In some cases, are there cached links for small files (where that was more suitable for certain devices)?

    Is the service fast?

Based on the above criteria, I rank these 4 services in the following order from best to worst:

Alldebrid: Generally, most cached content and fastest. <<winner>>

Premiumize: Lots of cached content, but slower than Alldebrid.

Easynews: Some "cached" content, relatively slow to start streaming.

    Torbox: Almost no cached content.

Based on the above and the fact that its regular price is quite cheap (paid $3.16 for one month), I currently lean towards just paying month by month for Alldebrid. However, I expect that it will be the next to fall given it's based in France.

Of course, this comparison won't be suitable for everyone, but can serve as one data point.

    Updates/Edits:

    • I just tested out Link-Debrid's and Offcloud's free tiers via Torrentio and can comment on how they do on cache availability for my content though not on speed. Link-Debrid came out middle of the pack comparable to or slightly ahead of Easynews. As for Offcloud, it's a bit of a toss up for last place between it and Torbox with hardly any cached content.

Can someone ELI5 to me the difference between Usenet and Debrid?
And if I get something like Easynet, Torbox or Premumizer do I simply get access to Usenet or do I need to do something else to get Usenet access?
Does Usenet with these services work the same as Debrid where you can stream cached stuff or you have to download them first?

  • Seems to still be working here! Hopefully that continues.

  • Thank god I didnt buy premium. Wouldve been another waste like many others.

  • I've switched to AllDebrid for now. Pay monthly because they are also France based.

    • How are you finding All Debrid as compared to RD?
Is there a step by step guide on Alldebrid setup?

  • +4

Was always going to happen, when random 50 year old men who can barely use their iphone are talking about how easy piracy is on facebook it was always going to get shutdown… You should at least have to put a little work into being a pirate IMO.

  • +3

When you got everyone boasting about it in ozbargain, it was doomed. It's like fight club, what's the first rule? No one talk about fight club.

    • +3

ozb is irrelevant lol. It was basically going viral on most forms of social media. Frankly it was too easy.

      • +1

yeh reddit and those dummies making short form content for followers and clout on youtube and tiktok

  • Not surprising

  • +2

Its working. They've moved the servers
