NewsgroupDirect Unlimited Usenet - $7 Per Month

40

Quote…

"For a limited time our legendary unlimited usenet plan is available for only $7.

Never again worry about reaching your monthly allotment or using up all of your blocks. Unlimited means just that - superior usenet access with no monthly caps. This is $7 per month for life, not an intro rate.

The best features include:

1,580+ Days Retention
50 SSL Connections
30 GB of Online Storage
Access to NGD Member Rewards
Discounts on Ghost Path VPN"

The usual caveats apply these days about DCMA takedown notices and availability of indexing sites, but still a good deal I think for unlimited Usenet.

I would appreciate it if you used my affiliate link below. But feel free either way.

as for speed… no idea but no reason not to try out NewsgroupDirect for a month to find out.

    • @ravzter: they're also a Highwinds provider like newgroupdirect. Without going into too much detail I would recommend you avoid Highwinds. I bought a 2TB block of NGD a while back but still have more than 1.5TB due having difficulties getting content uploaded more than 2-3 days ago (I'm finding even 1 day ago). After some research I have a rough idea of which providers to go with but not 100% sure they're the right ones. For obvious reasons I won't list them but I do encourage you do research on other providers.

While we're on this topic can someone please PM me an alternative usenet provider? I know someone had PM'd a recommendation in the last NGD post.

P.S. Is anyone else getting tired of these NGD posts?

      • Really? I've found NGD & usenet-news both to be very good.
I'm not sure why you want don't want to publicly want to discuss Usenet providers, it's not like they're a state secret. There's only a half dozen or so actual backbone UseNet providers, the rest are resellers

        Here's the list
        http://www.newsgroupservers.net/newsgroup_server_resellers

        • Good to hear someone is getting their moneys worth :)

True, it's not a state secret. I don't know whether they already had it coming or whether it was due to the publicity but the major providers (such as Highwinds, Astraweb, etc..) have kneeled down to the DMCA. It's only a matter of time before other providers are affected.

Anyway someone has already commented further below.

What incentive do you get ?
    Just curious

    • You earn cash:

Personally, for the benefit of the Ozbargain community I would rather not publish an affiliate link (even if I have the option). An affiliate link would pretty much encourage me to post crappy deals.

P.S. See how tempting it is?

      1. Industry-Leading Payout Percentage

We give you 70% of all sales that come from your site, up to a $25/max per sale.

      • So if the OP rebates us, we can get Unlimited USENET for ~$2/Month?

    • Only reason he posts these deals.

Excuse my ignorance but what is the point in usenet now that all indexing sites are closing down? (apart from all the private ones)

    • umm there's still plnety of indexing sites. The issue is that the posts are being removed.

      • This issue (with public index sites) is enough to warrant making this purchase. Everyone does not have invites to private index sites anyway and don't suggest to CYO index site.
Besides, this post is not really a deal as it is offered quite often and can be had easily.

Umm the issue is nothing to do with indexing sites. They're useless if the actual posts are being removed from the UseNet servers. Just because a few popular indexing sites were taken down, that doesn't affect this deal (there's heaps of them out there with new ones popping up all the time).

I do agree that these NGD deals seem to happen every other day (personally I find the block accounts better value).

I suspect a lot of the usenet sites will be pumping out deals in order to retain customers. I also reckon the DCMA stuff is just a big bang scary people away & get some media coverage. The same thing happened with torrents, but they're still going strong.

    http://xsusenet.com/ Free 25gb each month.

I pay for premium. great retention and file availability

  • If you are looking for stuff like U F C - you need to make sure you pick a usenet host without automated DMCA takedown notices. These are typically hosted in countries like the Netherlands etc.

There are companies dedicated to detecting (c) content and automating the issue of DMCA requests to usenet providers. This effectively means you don't get the chance to actually download 0-day style content - it's busted.

See this company for example: morgan elligroup . com /?p=133

I think a good option is furk.net which allows one to download torrents without the peer-to-peer implications.
