  It cannot be stacked unless you upgrade your plan. You'll lose the games you've had from PS+ for as long as your subscription is inactive. So, in that case, one day.

So it looks like if you want to continue your same sub you get zero discount. Mine ends on December 19th and last year I was able to stack for Black Friday with the 25% off. Now it’s just showing full price to get another year on my current tier.
Please someone correct me if I’m wrong, I would love it.
Or it hasn’t even started yet, because I can’t find anything on the site regarding Black Friday deals for subs…

As others have said, didn't work for me as an existing subscriber.
I'm thinking to create a 2nd account on my PS5 in order to sign up to PS+ as a 'new subscriber' so I can leverage the discount. The plan being the 2nd account just sits there unused apart from occasionally downloading a free game to the console, and the main account is actually used to play games including online.

Can anyone tell me if there are any negatives to doing it this way – apart from not being able to access my PS+ free games from the main account? I'm mostly interested in being able to play the games I've bought and own online with my main account.

  I think that you won’t be able to play them from your main account even though you have them downloaded. PS will only let you play games that u downloaded as part of your membership while that membership is active. I have about 100 games downloaded, but I’m pretty sure I’m going to lose access to them all once I don’t renew my membership in December.

  I did some calcs and assuming the upgrade difference is taken from essential and deluxe both at RRP and that difference is what you get 30% off on when upgrading from essential to deluxe then the final cost of getting essential for 20% off then upgrading to deluxe for 30% off is $147.46 making it a bad deal vs getting deluxe out right. Can anyone else confirm or correct my math?

If you upgrade from Extra to Premium it gives you a 30% reduction, then it also invites you to buy another years subscription. So existing users can take advantage of the reduction.

This might be common sense but seen some people asking this - if you still have time remaining on your current ps plus and just want to stack another year but it's only showing the remaining 'x' days. What i did was just select the tab in the ps plus section that my membership is on (essentials for me). There it'll say "Buy again" - the next payment date is a year after my current membership ends. It's not an upgrade but allows me to still get the discount for my current tier.

  That’s not working for me. It’s still showing full price. And if I try to upgrade from my current tier of Extra to Deluxe, it’s only giving me a discount for the next, like, 27 days until the renewal date (19/12/24) then full price after that. So I can pay $1.44 and get 30% off for 27 days and then pay $200. It’s bonkers.
  I feel like I’m missing something, or I’m going crazy. Or Sony don’t give a shite about their current subscribers 🤷

    This method doesn't work with upgrades. It's only for buying your current membership at the discounted rate. So for you go to the Extra tab and it should be there, read the dates carefully and it should say the full price isn't due until 12/2025 and you should get the discount

There is a $135 gift card on sb which would make it $129.60 + $2.87 = $132.47 for deluxe

I was about to do this but remembered had enough prezzie giftcards from work to use before expire

I think theres a challenge also to net you some extra back but I cant see if still available as I have redeemed it allready

I upgraded from Extra to Delux and now I can stack my account. I'm stacked up until 2027 and can do more if I want (I don't). Glad I don't need to worry about this for a while again. Shame Sony wouldn't give it to Extra users though.

I did have to upgrade, 41c for the remaining few days i could then buy deluxe at30% discount for x1 year then exit app, go back in and it allowed me to process an additional year, so could stack 2 years @30% off. I went back in and could jave done another year so i am sure you could stack more if you wanted. I couldnt do this by staying on extra unfortunately.

Current Deluxe member until mid December. It gives me the 30% off Deluxe, but unfortunately no discount if I want to downgrade my membership tier (which I wanted to do). This is how they get you and keep you at the top tier. Doesn’t make financial sense for me to downgrade now that I can get the 30% off so I’m stuck paying $137 per year (I stacked and bought 2 years to last me until Dec 2026).

For a casual gamer it’s hard to know whether to bother with the 20% discount for essential or just buy monthly and cancel until you know you have time to use it again. I haven’t had it for a while and the only real thing I’m missing is playing GTA online. Doing a few months over the Xmas break may be smarter me thinks.

Don’t forget you can stack them..

Once you upgrade/purchase a deluxe sub, you can go back in and “Buy Again” and stack them

I currently have 5 x Deluxe @ $140ish
