This is more for ergonomics than mouse tracking
How is that? I don't know anyone who has used them in years, so genuine question. Before optical mice, everyone used pads.
Are they popular with kids for playing FPS games perhaps? I may still have a few in the e-junk box in the shed :)
Without a mousepad you are likely to scratch the mouse skates, resulting in poor or inconsistent glide.
