Hey OP - good deal. I bought it $455 a couple of days ago from Amazon. Your price in title is showing $440 - did you get it for that price? Amazon still showing $455 for me.

      Thanks - sorry fixed.

Yes great deal, especially when you factor in the cost of alternative printers only having starer ink (add $100+ to the price for ink)

Yes for sure an excellent deal. I have been watching for the past 3 months waiting for the BF sale. Was $589 for ages, then $6XX for a few weeks. I encourage anyone looking for a do-it-all MFC refillable ink printer to read through comments of old posts for this model. Seems to be rated very well for running cost vs functionality (as opposed to going as cheap as possible with mono laser).

        • You're watching for the past 3 months and missed the Prime Big Deal Days last month?

          • @O O: Yeah spewing I missed it. Need to up my ozB game.

  • This is tempting. I narrowed down my search to the 5150 and the 5800. The 5800 will cost more to run but the extra features are worth it imo.

Was a much easier decision when it was $669 vs $999, but I’m still holding out hope for a BF deal on the 5800.

    • What extra features?

      • I Believe the 5800 does duplex scanning.

However is that worth paying double for?

        • I've got that in the office, so probably not really for everyday personal use.

      • Extra / better features that would make a difference for my use case:

        • 25ppm for B&W / 12ppm for Colour vs 17/9
        • 4800 x 2400 dpi print resolution vs 4800 x 1200
        • Larger Paper capacity
        • Duplex scanning
        • Copy speed is almost double

I need speed, capacity and decent prints. Obviously at this price point though it's hard to justify for the majority.

  • Is this good for HQ picture prints?

    • Looking for a good home photo printer as well

  • Buy some 10% amazon gift cards.

  • I’m considering this or the 2850. Did you consider that at all?

    • Have a look at this link for a great comparison:
      https://www.epson.com.au/v2/ecotank/

The 2850 doesn't have duplex printing! (or ethernet port)

      • 2850 actually has duplex printing.

    • Good question. Also interested, so do share if you find a good comparison other than the one linked there. Even the ET-2810 looks appealing (same amount of colour prints but fewer b&w with the included inks)

I have an Epson 2810 eco tank printer. If ink tank printers are not used regularly, the nozzles dry out and stop printing (my current issue). The same nozzle issue happened on our cannon ink tank printer at work.

  • Bit of a niche question, but someone might have an idea.

I'm looking at printing colour on transparency film - in particular, using this product:
    https://www.amazon.com.au/Apollo-Printer-Sheets-Universal-Cl…

One of the comments there complains that "Works very well in a inkjet only. But not comparable with a eco tank printer. You can print on it but the ink never dries with the eco tank"

Can anyone imagine why that would be? In what way are these eco tanks different from inkjets? Epson's specs say minimum droplet size is "as small as 3 picoliters" for the 2810. I think they go about as low as 1.5 on some models - is that the difference?

    Thanks!
