  • $29 + $9 booking fees I guess
    Rorting the system

    • Cheapest way to get a ground pass for the 1st 4-5 days play when the best top-draw action is playing.
There are $19 GPs for Monday of week 2 but by then it's the abilities, juniors, and seniors on the outside courts.

      • Cheapest way to get a ground pass for the 1st 4-5 days play when the best top-draw action is playing.

Yes exactly. People need to not think of it as getting a ticket in MCA or Rod Laver which won't be the best seat. It's about getting a ground pass included in those tickets for $29 instead of the $49 regular price for ground passes.

        • "ground pass included in those tickets"
          Could you please explain further?

          • +2

@silu: All tickets allow you into the grounds whether you booked a seat in Rod Laver, Margaret Court, etc. A grounds pass is essentially an entry ticket into the grounds of the Melbourne Park. There are multiple outdoor courts (22 I believe) (+ a couple of arenas included) on the grounds of Melbourne Park. A ground pass doesn't allow you entry into Rod Laver or Margaret Court.

John Cain Arena is also available on a ground pass BUT they also sell reserved seating which are the better seats behind the baseline. Meh, not worth it.

A ground pass allows you access from 10am BUT if you bought a night session at Rod Laver or Margaret Court, I believe you can only access the grounds from 5pm.

It's confusing and gets more so every year. :)

No booking fees for Aus Open tickets.

  • Is this limited dates or can i get a finals ticket for $29?

    • +1

haha. Not likely for $500 to $1300 tickets.

      Examples from last year:

      Rod Laver: Day 2 - Day $89 Night $79. Day 9 - Day $99 night $149
      MCA: Day 2 - Day/Night $69 - Day 9 $59
      John Cain: Day $59 - Day 9 $49

      • Wait, so which tickets will be $29? Day 1 only?

        • +1

No, was a bunch of different days. I think all of the 1st week at least.

Yes, $29, those are the regular prices above.

I personally got Rod Laver, Day 2 Day session last year.

          • @neil: Looks like i was on the money, unfortunately😭

            I'll try again next week…

            • @King Steuart: Will there be another happy hour next week? I was looking for dates of Fri 17/Sat 18.. will they ever be discounted?

              • @Jhaaymes: That's what I gathered from the '4-5pm Thursdays in Nov/December' in the title. I assume more days and seats will unlock as we go.

  • Will Nick Kyrgios play?

    • Depends if he fizzles at the Brisbane International.

  • How much would a rod laver ticket go for?

  • +1

Does anyone know how many tickets can be bought in the one transaction? Hoping for day session, John Cain, for 8 people.

  • Will there be a special link to purchase these tickets? Or will the prices just be updated on the public Ticketmaster website?

  • This is a great deal. I've already jumped on the presale tickets for $10 ground pass general admission.

Might buy these for an additional day in the first week.

    • The 10 ground pass tickets, are they for the week before the open starts, or are there some for Monday 13th?

      • They are for qualifiers which used to be free. While qualys are technically part of the competition, its a way different thing then the 1st week of actual play. Way way less people, less vibe, and most of the good players enter the tournament without having to qualify due to ranking, so selling them as "Opening Week" is a bit misleading for me. Should say qualifiers IMO.

        • I remember going to a free qualifier before an A-League game at AAMI Park.
Now post-COVID, they charge. A League games/ memberships seemed to be 1/2 of what they cost now.
          Silly Sport Inflation.

  • Anyone have link to purchase tickets?

so, $29 is for first day only, others a bit more expensive, and it's only for 12-15 Jan

    • $29 for a Sunday is crazy cheap though.
Ended up with a Tuesday Rod Laver Day session for $40 concession ($49 Adult price) for a ticket that's OVER DOUBLE. No booking fees either.
Going on Thursday with someone to John Cain and that reserved seat costs double.

  • +1

Looks like it might just be for the 12-15th Jan at this stage.
Does anyone know if they released later dates in the future 'HappyHour' sales?

    • +1

Last year it was every Thursday and that was the 1st time they ran this happy hour promo. Might be different dates in future weeks.

Got 13th Rod Laver for $49. Not as cheap as last year but same price as ground pass so can't complain.

All set! See my fellow Ozbargainers in the Rod Laver Arena back row on 13 Jan night session!

Thanks OP! MCA for $55. A bit more exxy this year but landed a shaded spot!

  • Thanks OP.

Got RLA seats for the same price as the grounds pass (13 Jan) - $49.

Also got night seats for John Cain on 12 Jan for $29.

    Much appreciated!
