I got one of these and love it, syncs to my phone with Bluetooth. Have found the results to seem accurate. The app is pretty nice to see stats. Good for summer weather . To check if I'm being tight with the AC or not 🙂

I replaced aqara zigbee sensor with this in home assistant and am convinced this is a better and cheaper option.

    • You did this with wifi version or bluetooth?

        • Second this, works like a charm. I got couple of these few weeks ago and was one of the most pain free setups in HA.

          • @punjabiz: I actually ended up buying the item the OP linked as they have a "matching" screen-less (tiny) version, one of which I have in a fridge and the other in our verandah.

My HA VM is currently dormant on my home server as I haven't had the time/will power to set about moving everything across. That day will/may potentially come, possibly.

Is this better than that? https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B09QBR7XJD

      • Do you also need to buy the switchbot wifi bridge?

        • I think you can, if you want to, but you don't need to. I'm looking to ditch my ageing, battery-eating Elgato Room/Weather sensors and both the Govee and Switchbot look very similar. What is swaying me towards the Govee the OP posted is the mini device they also sell https://www.amazon.com.au/Thermometer-Hygrometer-Connecting-…. I can definitely see a use for those and would prefer one app for all.

Govee do also look to have wifi gateways available but they appear to be US only, at this point. Happy to be corrected there though.

  • thanks bought one in white

  • Thanks bought 2. And refunded the other generic broken 2 I bought back in Feb this year from amazon that had died.

    1) what's the battery life like?
    2) wifi or ble? plan is to integrate into HomeAssistant

    • Not sure as only got it few weeks ago.

BLE for me as my HA machine has built in Bluetooth receiver. Very easy to setup.

I like the big display compared to the small Xiaomi ones.

    • I've been using these for 2 years, average battery life is 9 months for me (I mark in my calendar when I change batteries). At the moment the Govee H5075 (this model) and the Aqara Temperature and Humidity Sensor are my favourites for use with Home Assistant.

The Govee is great for when you want a physical display to look at (and it takes 2x AAA batteries, so it's cheap to run). The Aqara Zigbee sensor is smaller so it has no display and is great for smaller spaces such as inside my 3D printer, my fridge or inside a filament dry box.

Note that Govee makes a whole bunch of different bluetooth thermometers/hygrometers but the H5075 remains the best and cheapest by far in my opinion. The Wifi models (with no display) are useless, don't buy them.

  • DO NOT BUY. This thing only lasts 2-3 weeks on a fresh set of batteries, so you will be needing to replace them very regularly, each time your calibration settings are lost again. So you have to start all over again. Useless product as a result

    • There must be something wrong with your one or you are using weird settings which are high battery drain, I use 6 of these around my home with Home Assistant and the batteries last 9 months on average.

Can't find a single thermometer that will simply export to the local network or to a UI on phone or web browser directly. I really don't want to share temperatures with whatever company I buy the thing from. Other than trying to sell aircons, heating or solar I don't know what these companies can do with the info but it's still very off-putting. I guess I'd have to roll my own with something like a Pi and sensors to get what I want, and that's not work I'm willing to do.

Of all the data you need to protect, I don't think your room temps are one of them.

To some degree it's the principal and on the other hand I just want it to work locally without depending on a cloud service that can change/disappear at any time.

That said this is Bluetooth so if you setup home assistant and use it with this I think it can be achieved? I haven't done anything with Bluetooth integration before myself.

        • Despite the Bluetooth connection, you have to send yourself the data via the company's email servers. On every single one I've seen.

You have to buy a very expensive temperature data logger to get what I want, which is to have it write to local storage and allow you to connect and download the data.

          Ridiculous.

          • @syousef: Ah yeah that sucks. I have some Phillips hue indoor motion sensors which also measure temperature and that reports to home assistant completely offline/local. Might not be a perfect fit but I’m sure there would be similar products but focussed on temperature that work offline with home assistant (for a reasonable price)?

Edit. A bunch here if ok with HA: https://home-assistant-guide.com/guide/the-best-wi-fi-temper…

            • @jj8aus: Aware of it but thanks I might take a second look. Cheers.

        • There's a lot of misinformation floating around, I don't see why what you want couldn't be achieved in Home Assistant. There's a built-in Govee Bluetooth integration which recognises the Govee H5075 natively:
          https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/govee_ble

I hate unnecessary cloud integrations as well, the Tuya crap especially has sworn me off their devices forever.

@deadpoet: @syousef I finally got around to trying this switchbot version of this (someone shared in one of the comments above) and bluetooth integration with home assistant. Works like a charm! All offline, not internet access required.
