  • How does this compare to the Meater probes?

    • +1

I don't have the meater. I do have this. No complaints. I got 4 for less than the price of 1 meater. It's wifi from base to your phone. Meater is only Bluetooth (this has both) so range is shorter.

Relatively accurate when compared to other thermometers I have.

You do have to sink 90% of it into food. If you don't it's not measuring the temp of the food only

      • I got 4 for less than the price of 1 meater.

So each one is about 25cm?

      • What bbq do you use it for? I’ve seen reviews that the connection gets spotty when weber lids are closed

        • when weber lids are closed

that would act as a faraday cage….

@jv: That's right, I have this probe and signal will be lost unless base is close (<1m) and it happens in my Everdur and the oven. The Wifi connection makes up for it though. I just keep the base close.

Meater pro= much more expensive, calibration certificate, multiple internal sensors that are ±0.1°C, 550C heat resistant
Inbird= amazing for the price and your average bbq, multiple probes and standalone display

      • I must have triggered a snowflake 🤷‍♂️

    • At the top end of town you should be looking at

      Combustion Inc
      Thermoworks RFX
      Fireboard Pulse

      Definitely not meater.

    Wi-Fi Wireless Meat Thermometer

I'd be concerned about Russian hackers

Does this come with a firewall ?

    • Dear God imagine how bored the hackers would be listening to the shit the average person spouts whilst at a barbie. Endless repetitions of “can someone please get me a beer”.

  • You can’t beat meat heat

  • Some observations:

    • You can also buy 1x dual sensor probe in case for $80.
    • The 2x probe set has 1x dual sensor probe and 1x food only probe.

Where dual sensor probe means you get a food reading 0-100C and also an ambient temp reading 0-300C.

4 probe looking like a great deal. Some insurance if one dies.

    Uh Meat WiFi thermometer??

    what is this?! 😂

so like you're the husband in charge of BBQ, and the wifey: "hunnie you haven't been at the BBQ for 5 mins, are you sure you aren't burning the steaks on the BBQ?"
husbando: "it's fine I've been keeping an eye on the steak through my App".
    wifey: "huh what?"
husbando: "my WiFi probe App, look it's fine!". 😅

    • With meater, you can share the cook via link on your wife’s tv, if she doesn’t trust you:

      • I thought you made up "Meater". 😂

so it's actually a thing. you can monitor steak readiness through WiFi?!!

        • The Meater Block connects to wifi. The “normal” probes connect via Bluetooth but you can share a live link via the phone app and view it on any browser.

    • You can use it for steak but think more brisket, pork shoulder etc that takes 10hours of smoking to be ready.
