I should add to this, it has USB 4 which means you can hook up usb 4 and thunderbolt 3 devices.

Both other options from beelink and gmktec are cheaper for the same configuration. Artificial price 'savings'

This is a good deal if anyone is not sure.

Im not sure how this is a good deal when the GMKtec Gaming PC Oculink Mini Computers AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS 32GB DDR5 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD Windows 11 Pro Desktop Computers Dual NIC LAN 2.5G, WiFi 6, USB3.2, USB-C 4.0, BT5.2, DP, HDMI, Dual Fan

with double the storage and dual nic is $50 cheaper ….

Im also happy to be corrected if I am wrong …

    • I agree with chingy213 and pw2002au as I got the GMTek K8 last week for $760 after a few % cashback. It was reduced from $1,109 and only one unit left (mine!). Much faster than I expected.

Downside: the K8's fan is really noisy. I understand there's an updated K8 Plus which has better thermals. I had to change the BIOS to quiet and elevate the unit to improve airflow. Early days, so unsure how this will affect me, but it has no issues presently with virtualisation etc.

I considered a laptop like the Lenovo Ideapad Pro 5, but I saved over $500, don't have to worry about overheads like battery constantly on charge, less space needed, easier to upgrade or replace parts, and fits in my safe when I have to travel.

I don't know if this helps anyone. I know very little about computers. This is the unit:

  • My limit will be $450 for mini pc, if paying over $850+, will rather chip in just a little bit more and get a laptop with 8845hs instead. Down the track I bet laptops will have better resale value than these chinese branded mini pc
