      yeah thanks.
I see it a reason to stay with LP though. Big companies usually dont get hacked twice !!
Next time it could be a different password manager

I was a long time LP user. They got bought out by a private equity company a few years ago. Don’t mind that in isolation, but then read about the security practices and management practices that lead to the breach(s!). Immediately changed to 1Password.

If you have a family, 1P is likely easier to administer than most other options.

1P also does not store keys in the cloud which I understand is different from LP. I’m not a guru in this stuff but decided accept that this one thing I’ll have to pay a premium for in my life.

If I was looking fresh, I’d see what Apple’s built in manager was doing for free for their users now, or look into Proton’s offering. Bitwarden is also popular and has a cheap subscription.

Big companies usually dont get hacked twice !!

They have already been hacked multiple times:

LastPass has experienced multiple data breaches in the past, including one in 2015 that exposed user emails and master passwords.

LastPass experienced a significant breach in 2022, where attackers accessed customer data and user vault information.

      • If only that were true, for me a major factor is not just their subpar security protocols but also how they handled it

  • Wish they had the offer for renewals too … !!

I use bitwarden now after the breach….

Another vote for bitwarden. Feature parity for 99% of use cases and completely free and open source

        Same

        Bitwarden > Lastpass

I do too but supposedly bitwarden are being dodgy too without having all components open source anymore

    100% find something else.

Bitwarden or 1Password are definitely the way to go.

      Bitwarden is fantastic

  • If they get hacked yet again, all your most important data is at risk.

I moved to Bitwarden - it's free and excellent.
