this price is back from last month

This air circulator needs no introduction. If you have TGGC it’s a bit cheaper ($182) but you need to pick up. Next day delivery showing for me. Not the worst deal I guess.

    A $200 fan? wtf is this crap…

      Here we go

Could say the same about a $1500 gaming monitor…

        • +6

          👍

        • +2

Only of you've compared it to another monitor. If you don't know any better you could get away with a 720p 30hz monitor with a TN panel.

    • +3

      Needs introduction

      • -1

It's a fan with a DC motor instead of an AC motor, so it's a bit quieter and about 80% more power-efficient under ideal conditions. But it's $200. You could buy a $20 fan that moves the same amount of air and spend an extra $10 a year powering it, meaning it would take 18 years to make up the price difference. Even if you factor in needing to replace the cheap fan every few years and buy, say, three fans for $60 total, you'd still get 14 years of use before breaking even.

  • I came for the introduction,

but left with nothing but 633DC suction

  • Bought this on the last deal through TGGC. Extremely powerful, decent noise level, not too large, overall very satisfied.

Worth $182? Could go either way, but I’m very happy with my purchase going into summer.

    • the best part is that with a few aliexpress parts, you can power it from USB-C PD

      • I've got a 633dc and had wondered about this.
        Have you done it?
Can you point me in the right direction please?

        • +1

          yes done with a 533dc.

          1x barrel jack from aliexpress
1x round three way switch (on - off - on)
1x USB-C 20V trigger to barrel jack pin
          bunch of cables with plugs.

          undo screws at base.
cut cables, solder the plugs appropriately.
drill holes for the 3 way switch and barrel jack

          plug it in all together.
          voila

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/870707
search for my name for pictures of the fan

          • @FoxJump: Thanks heaps for that.

            Might copy your work!

            • @chewbot: please do!

there's even enough space inside to throw out the transformer and hide a powerbank in it completely.

      • To make it more efficient or just easier to power?

        • easier to power when camping.
because my ecoflow river2 battery inverter is very inefficient, this way i go straight off a powerbank or its usbc

  • Bought one from a previous deal. Been using it to bring air into a room once it cools down. Works pretty well, moves a decent amount of air considering the noise level.

    Overkill for the purpose? Maybe.

I bought one of these and returned it. Even loud on the lowest setting. My half the price Kambrook pedestal fan was still significantly better.

    • +2

Are you sure you got the DC model? I have one next to me and you cant hear a thing when it's on the lowest setting. That's one of the advantages of the DC model.

  • Tossing between a vornado or this ausclimate.
    Any thoughts ?
Ausclimate has more function but not sure about the strength compared to vornado?

    https://www.harveynorman.com.au/ausclimate-eco-smart-desk-ci…

    • Well I have an Ausclimate dehumidifier and it works ace for our bathroom with poor ventilation… so I guess it might be worth a go

      • Thanks for that ! Yes wasn't too sure about the brand . Might give it a go seeing it has more function

    • This Ausclimate model looks absolutely tiny (and way overpriced for something that small). The Vornado 633DC is big. There's no comparison, they're in completely different classes.

      • Ahh that's true. Definitely wrong class. This ausclimate would be more suited with 533DC. more curious on the ausclimate as can't find any review or post on ozbargain on it.
        Thanks for the reply

Thanks for bringing my attention to the ausclimate. I didn't know they had branched out. They have had a very good reputable in dehumidifiers for a while. And are Brisbane local - or at least used to be.

I have a vornado 633dc and love it. I already had 2 other vornado models when I bought it a year ago. One of which I have had for 17 years.

This vornado is super simple. One dial. No beeps. No oscillation. Can tilt vertically.

It's great because you can adjust it without it beeping and waking others sleeping in the room.

You can plug it into a smart switch or a dumb timer and it will come on at whatever level you left it on previously.

The ausclimate has me interested. But is the opposite.

Lots of smart features. Which is great. But also, more things to go wrong.

Also, I couldn't find any specs on how much air it pushes, or power usage, or how many watts the motor is, or noise levels.
Which is surprising. If anyone one finds them please let me know.

I was ready to get another vornado 633dc until I saw the ausclimate. Now I am less sure.

Also, the ausclimate is currently same price at amazon, so can give Gerry a miss if that works better for people.

The ausclimate pedestal version is allegedly $100 off if buying direct:

      https://ausclimate.com.au/products/ausclimate-ecosmart-pedes…

But, even slightly cheaper for $167 at amazon:

      https://www.amazon.com.au/Ausclimate-EcoSmart-Pedestal-Circu…

      • Yea I know right ! Hence tossing between the two. Seems like HN does it for $145 pre order.
I do have the 533dc for the bedroom on a plug timer and was gonna get another one but saw ausclimate in HN and has the extra function and remote- which may be better suited for living room or office

I've contacted Ausclimate to see if they can provide some more details. Fingers crossed.
